Question

Wter dispense problems

The water dispenser will just stop working. I have fixed this in the past by removing the filter and putting it back again (several times). I have followed all the instructions, changed the filter, have checked for kinks, made sure the temp is not too cold etc.....This is now the third time it has happened and i have only owned this since 6/2010.

Have you checked the water line connection located under the hinge cover on the left refrigerator door? Instructions for removing the hinge cover and checking that connection can be found in the User Manual (within sections for removing and reattaching the doors). The manual can be downloaded as a pdf file for your convenience. If this does not solve the issue for you, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

How do I clean the straw that dispenses the water?

It has gotten a buildup of nasty stuff around it. You can see it, but can't reach it. Also the water flow has gotten really slow.

I'm sorry to hear the water dispenser spout is dirty. Since the water that is dispensed through the spout is filtered, I'm not sure how it could have gotten dirty inside, but would not suggest removing it since this would likely effect the warranty if your refrigerator is still within the covered period. You could try cleaning the hard to reach areas with a cotton swab or pipe cleaner. Changing the filter regularly should help to prevent debris from getting into the water line and dispenser.

I purchased this refrigerator RF26XAEWP last year and love it. I noticed on newer models they have the "quick space shelf" to allow for tall items and more flexability. Can I get those shelves for this model and if so where cn I purchase them?

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your icemaker. Since the icemaker is cooled based on the freezer settings, raising the temperature in your refrigerator will not help to defrost it. I would suggest turning the icemaker off, then removing the ice bucket to clean it out before replacing it while you await your service appointment.

The change filter light will gradually change from blue to red. when it is red, this indicates that the water filter needs to be changed. once you have changed the filter, hold down the filter button for 3 seconds and the light will return to blue. this lets the refridgerator know you have changed the filter so that it can begin measuring the use of your new filter.

Question

Why after I replaced the water filter, do I have no water dispensing and ice maker creating tiny ice cubes?

It has been getting increasing worse with each filter that we replace. This is the 4th filter in a year and a half. If we line up the filter at the correct location on the filter it doesn't work at all.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. After replacing the filter there may be air pockets in the line that need to be flushed through by dispensing as much as 5-6 gallons of water. If this isn't done, it could lead to slow water flow, gaps in the flow, and interruptions in the icemaking process. If you've flushed the lines and continue to have issues with the water flow, but the valve is turned on all the way and the water line isn't kinked, your refrigerator may require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit your contact information to our support team through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Thank you for contacting Samsung customer!

We recommend you review the animation in this support article:

http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber/popup/iframe/pop_troubleshooting_fr.jsp?idx=409980&modelname=RF26XAEWP

If the bucket is not budging, it could frozen in place. You might check to see if there is any ice buildup in areas that would be keeping the bucket from being removed.

How do I get to these areas? it is an enclosed unit. How do I open it?

Thanks.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

If your product is beyond the one-year parts & labor warranty coverage, you can use a hair dryer to help melt the ice build-up. If your product is still within warranty coverage, you can file a service request to have an authorized technician come out and repair the issue.

Question

After cubes are made, they all melt together in the tray. HELP!!

When our ice maker makes cubes, they will be ok unless they sit there for a few hours then them seem to all melt together in big chunks. We have tried turning the freezer to be colder, thinking that it was too warm, but that didn't do anything to fix this problem. It's almost as if it will make the ice cubes, but water is still pushed out and onto the cubes and makes them all stick together. We have to empty the entire ice maker everyday into a container because most of it is in huge pieces. What can we do to fix this?

If your ice maker will not crush ice, remove the ice bucket, place the ice in a suitable container. Rinse out the ice bucket with warm water, allow it to dry. Put the ice back in the bucket, and reinstall the ice bucket. Check to make sure you can switch between cubed and crushed on the display panel. Choose crushed and dispense some ice.

For low ice production, please see the Low Ice Production article in the Troubleshooting Guides, or FAQ's.
