Question

How can we fix a gap in the bottom of the doors?

We just received our refrigerator this morning. The fridge is completely level, however there is at least a 1/2 inch gap between the doors at the bottom and about a 1/8 inch gap at the top of the doors. We can see into the fridge at the bottom of the french doors so cold air is escaping. How can we fix this?

It's normal to have a small gap between the French Doors since the door gaskets on Samsung refrigerators are designed to seal against a hinged vertical strip attached to the left door, rather than between the doors themselves. That said, if you can see into the refrigerator from between the doors, it sounds like the vertical strip is not closing properly. The top of the vertical strip should follow a track at the top of the refrigerator cabinet as the left door is closed if it's aligned properly. If this is not occuring, it's probably because the door is hanging too low, which can likely be corrected by raising the height of the left door using the "fasteners" that came packaged with your refrigerator (see attached image).

Please refer to page 16 of the User Manual for instructions on how to make minor adjustments to the doors.

If this does not resolve the issue for you, I would suggest calling 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can further assist you.

Thank you,
Ms. Samsung

The RF26XAEWP's Energy Saver button turns off the low-wattage heater that helps to evaporate condensation between the doors. Condensation is more likely to occur in hot and humid climates or seasons. Samsung has given customers the option of turning this heater off to save energy during dryer seasons, like the winter months, or for those who live in dry climates. When Energy Saver is on, the heater is off.

The RF26XAEWP has one icemaker which is located in the upper left corner of the refrigerator compartment and supplies ice through the door dispenser. Samsung's "Dual Ice" models with icemakers in both the refrigerator and freezer compartments include the RF268 and RFG298.

If your ice maker will not crush ice, remove the ice bucket, place the ice in a suitable container. Rinse out the ice bucket with warm water, allow it to dry. Put the ice back in the bucket, and reinstall the ice bucket. Check to make sure you can switch between cubed and crushed on the display panel. Choose crushed and dispense some ice.

For low ice production, please see the Low Ice Production article in the Troubleshooting Guides, or FAQ's.

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with the water dispenser on your RF26XAEWP refrigerator. Please check to make sure the Water function is selected by pressing the button on the control panel. If necessary, try raising the temperature of the refrigerator to 38°F; if the refrigerator is too cold the water lines could freeze, preventing the flow of water to the dispenser. Next, please check the water lines under the left door hinge cover to make sure it is not pinched or damaged. Instructions on removing the cover and checking the connections can be found on page 13 of the user manual which can be downloaded as a pdf file from this website.

If this does not resolve the issue, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can help determine whether service will be necessary.

After 5 months, it is possible that your water filter is clogged or partially clogged and needs to be replaced. Be sure to dispense 5-6 gallons of water after replacing the filter to bleed air from the lines. If this does not correct the issue, try the following:
- Make sure the water filter is installed correctly with the indicators aligned.
- Make sure the water valve is turned on all the way and there are no bends or kinks in the lines that could be obstructing the flow.
- Make sure the Water function is selected by pressing the Ice/Water button.
- Try raising the refrigerator temperature if it is set below the recommended 38°F. If the refrigerator is too cold, it could cause the water reservoir to freeze.

If, after checking all of the above, you continue to have this issue, your refrigerator will likely require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

I have followed all the instructions, changed the filter, have checked for kinks, made sure the temp is not too cold etc.....This is now the third time it has happened and i have only owned this since 6/2010.

Thank you for the question. Please check the following tips for resolving your issue with the water dispenser:
- Is the source water valve turned on all the way?
- Is the water line free of bends or kinks that could be obstructing water flow?
- Is the water filter installed correctly with the indicator marks aligned?
- Are the water lines under the hinge cover of the left door attached correctly (this can be an issue especially if the doors were removed for installation)?
- Are the refrigerator and freezer compartments set at the recommended 38°F and -2°F, respectively? (If the temps are set too low, the water line could freeze.)
- Did you select Water on the control panel by pressing the Ice/Water button until the Water icon lights up?
- Have you tried to bleed the air from the water line by pressing the dispenser lever for an extended period of time?

If these tips do help you to get the water running through the dispenser, you may need to dispense as much as 5-6 gallons to fully bleed air from the lines. If water still won't dispense, try removing the water filter. If water dispenses without the filter in place, then the filter was liked clogged and should be replaced.

If these tips do not resolve the issue for you, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

Question

Installing water filter, the lock symbol will not line up to the arrow on the refrigerator

Apparently we never had a filter installed in the fridge, I asked the installer when they delivered it and was told yes the filter is there it is very small so you don't really see it...The light on the fridge never showed red to indicate that a filter was needed. My daughter was here at Christmas and she wanted to know why we didn't have filter in the fridge..So now I need major help to figure out: why the filter won't fit, and why did the fridge not show that we needed a filter..
PLEASE ADVISE AS TO WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS REFRIGERATOR.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. If the refrigerator has been used for a long period of time without any filtration system, it is possible that there are mineral deposits in the lines which could make it difficult to install the filter. First, try shutting off the water valve to the refrigerator to alleviate the pressure in the lines. If you are still unable to install the filter, following the instructions in the User Manual, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further. The User Manual is available to download as a pdf from this website for your convenience.

I'm sorry to hear the water dispenser spout is dirty. Since the water that is dispensed through the spout is filtered, I'm not sure how it could have gotten dirty inside, but would not suggest removing it since this would likely effect the warranty if your refrigerator is still within the covered period. You could try cleaning the hard to reach areas with a cotton swab or pipe cleaner. Changing the filter regularly should help to prevent debris from getting into the water line and dispenser.
