Question

Problem with water/ice buildup - bottom of fridge - just above freezer

Just recently we have had significant water build up underneath the sliding drawers in the fridge portion of our french door fridge. The water then turns to ice, and occasionally turns partially to water - enough to leak down the fridge and ruin our wood floors. Please help troubleshoot.

Thank you.

Thanks for the question. To turn the icemaker back on, press the Ice Off button again. If you hold that same button for 3 or more seconds, you'll engage the Child Lock, so be sure the Child Lock is not engaged when trying to turn the icemaker back on; the padlock icon would be displayed if the controls were locked. If the icemaker does not fill with water automatically, press the Test button on the side of the icemaker, which should cause the tray to rotate and fill with water. If it does not, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

Instructions for removing/replacing the refrigerator door handles on the RF26VABWP can be found by clicking on the link below then selecting "Usage ► > How To ► > How To Remove The Refrigerator Door Handles": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

Samsung does not recommend removing the EZ Open Handle on the freezer drawer due to the complexity of the mechanism and difficulty of replacing it correctly. It is advisable to remove the drawer front instead, if necessary.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. It's not unusual for a small amount of crushed ice to dispense when cubed is selected, particularly if crushed ice had been selected previously. However, if your RF26VABWP is consistently dispensing the wrong type of ice, or if it mixes the two, please click on the link below then select "Troubleshooting ► > Water And Ice ► > Ice ► > Ice Maker Is Dispensing The Wrong Type Of Ice" for troubleshooting assistance: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

Answer this Question

answer 1
The RF26VABWP is designed to produce approximately 5 pounds of ice per day under ideal conditions. If your production has dropped significantly just recently, I would suggest checking the following:
- Your refrigerator temperature is set correctly at 38°F, but the recommended freezer temperature is -2°F. If it is set higher than this, it could effect ice production.
- Is something pressing against the lever that detects when the ice bin is full? The icemaker will not produce ice if it detects a full bin.
- Have you tried pressing the Test button on the side of the icemaker to reset it?
- Did you bleed air from the lines after replacing the filter by dispensing up to 6 gallons of water?
- Is your home's water pressure sufficient? In order for the ice maker to operate properly, water pressure of 20~125 psi is required. Under normal conditions, a 6 oz glass can be filled in about 10 seconds. Please check the flow rate from the dispenser to determine if the pressure has somehow changed.
- The Power Freeze feature can help increase ice production by running the compressor for an extended period of time.

I hope these suggestions help to increase your ice production.

Answer this Question

I'm sorry to hear your RF26V is not making ice. There are several factors that can effect the ability of the icemaker to function properly, including:
- Is the temperature cold enough? Samsung recommends setting the freezer at -2°F.
- Is the icemaker turned off? The icemaker can be turned on or off by pressing the Ice Off button on the control panel. Make sure the Ice Off icon is not illuminated on the display.
- Is the feeler arm that hangs under the icemaker stuck in the "up" position, which would indicate to the icemaker that the bucket is full and to stop making ice?
- Is the water connected, the valve turned on and hoses unkinked and free of obstruction?
- Is the refrigerator set at the recommended 38°F? If the refrigerator is too cold, the water line could freeze.
- Is the water filter installed properly and locked in place? If the filter is clogged or partially clogged, it may need to be replaced.
- Did you bleed the air from the lines by dispensing 6 gallons of water from the dispenser since installing or replacing the filter?
- Did you press the Test/Reset button on the icemaker?

If, after checking each of these suggestions, the icemaker still isn't functioning properly, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. Under normal conditions, a 170 cc (5.75 oz.) cup should fill in about 10 seconds. If yours is running very slowly, following are the items you should check:
1. Is your household water pressure the recommended 20~125 psi (pound per square inch)?
2. Is the water valve turned on the whole way?
3. Is the water line bent or kinked?
4. Did you bleed the air from the lines after replacing the water filter?
5. Does the cup fill at the appropriate rate when the water filter is removed? If so, then the water filter may not have been installed properly, or it may be clogged, and needs to be replaced.

I hope this check list helps to resolve the issue. If not, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you further.

To reset the filter indicator light on your RF26VABWP, press the Ice/Water button for at least 3 seconds. The light should change from red to blue. If it does not, service may be needed. Please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

At the recommended 20-125 psi water pressure, a 6 oz glass of water should dispense in about 10 seconds. If yours is slower than this, please check to make sure the water valve is turned on all the way and the lines are free of bends or kinks that could obstruct flow. Try bleeding air from the lines by dispensing 5-6 gallons of water. If, after air is removed, the water is still coming out slow, try removing the filter temporarily. If water dispenses faster without the filter, then the filter may be the cause and may need to be replaced again. If the water continues to run slow without the filter installed, please submit your contact information to our support team through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.
