Question

Vents in Refrigerator and Freezer are covered with ice

This is a problem we have had previously and had to pay a lot of money for a technician to repair it. The same issue is happening again. All of the vents in the refrigerator and in the freezer are covered with solid ice. Because of this, both the refrigerator portion and freezer portion does not cool down to proper temperature. We have spent over $600.00 to fix this problem already and it is happening again. I am very upset that this is happening and that the parts associated with the problem are not covered under warranty. I don't understand why these parts wouldn't be covered since it seems to me that it is a defrosting issue and without the refrigerator defrosting correctly, it can not operate the way it is suppose to operate. At this point I am frustrated that I purchased this refrigerator and wish I had gone with a different brand. I don't know what to do now to fix this problem. I am not going to pay another $600.00+ to fix something that was already worked on and supposedly fixed.

Question

Light for water/ice dispenser and alarm go on and off randomly

We have had the fridge for aprox 4 years. Today the buttons on the display stopped working randomly. The water/ice dispenser light goes on and off randomly and the alarm will beep randomly. By randomly I mean there is no set time between occurrences. Could happen back to back 5 or 6 times or could be 2 or 3 minutes between occurrences.

The only way to stop this is to enable the child lock when the buttons actually respond.

After changing filter and flushing for 12 minutes, water looks dirty.

Question

Freezer works fine, fridge doesn't do anything

My refrigerator doesn't work, at all. The fridge is set to recommended setting (-2 and 38), the freezer is exactly where it's supposed to be. the fridge is about 55. I put my hand on the plastic panel in the fridge where the fan / condenser coil are in the fridge part, and it was not cool, and the fan was not running. What do I have to do to fix this problem myself? I already sent a service request out, but with 7 people living out of that fridge, I need it fixed like, 5 hours ago!!

Question

Refrigerator is operating very loudly?

I am having a few issues with our refrigerator. The issue that concerns me the most is recently I noticed it running very loud. The loud noise stops when I open the doors. I tried to troubleshoot the issue via the troubleshooting guide on this website but couldn't find any info that relates to the type of noise that my refrigerator is making. It seems to be coming from the motor. The temperature of the fridge and freezer has also been affected. I'm afraid the compressor may be failing? I did notice that today the noise is nowhere near the loudness it was yesterday. The temp seems to be getting closer to what the display is set to. There is no error codes registering on the display. I also noticed frost on what I believe are the vents in the fridge. Today that frost is disipating. I don't know if there is a way for the fridge to work out the issue on it's own or how or why there is a difference between the way it was operating yesterday and the way it is operating today? Also, the light on the display panel for the cubed ice has been out for awhile. It didn't concern me because the cubed ice was still operating correctly. I'm not sure if I should continue to be concerned about this issue or not?

why is refrigerator making a loud humming noise when closed?

when we open it it stops, but when shut it starts back up again, just started about 5 months after purchase and is slowly getting louder. Also the bottom icemaker stopped working,and drips water which then coats the ice container with a layer of ice.

Thank you for contacting Samsung. Be sure that you are pushing the correct buttons for the option they are wanting to select. Certain icons, like the temperature display, will disappear after several seconds in order to save energy. The display will then reappear when the appropriate button is pushed. Some icon lights remain illuminated all the time, while others disappear. This is normal.

Make sure that the unit is not in Child Lock Mode. Child Lock will disable the ability to select anything on their display, and therefore even though they push a certain button, the icon will never illuminate.

If after checking these things, and if everything else on their display works, and the rest of their unit is working properly other than a single icon that does not illuminate, then your unit requires service. Please complete a service request here: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/request
