Different fruits and vegetables have different storage needs with regard to the humidity level. To give you an example, items like lettuce, spinach and berries prefer high humidity (over 90%), while onions and squash prefer lower relative humidity (under 80%). A helpful trick to remember which produce loves higher humidity is to think of what items are kept on the sides of the produce aisle in the grocery stores where they receive frequent "mistings" of water (these like high humidity), and which are kept relatively dry (these prefer lower relative humidity).

Question

Loose part in Freezer bottom / Freezer Temperature Set / No Egg Storage Unit

1. Upon close examination of freezer compartment bottom while exploring features I found a part laying at bottom of freezer. It is a straight steel rod 26 11/16" long, of 1/4' cubic cross-section just like the complex curved rod that is at back of pullout freezer drawer. Where is it supposed to go? Unit seems to work fine without it.
2. Freezer temp can only be set to -8 F rather than the instruction booklet -14 F, is this a misprint in booklet or is there problem with temperature setting unit?
3. I received a silly-useless wine bottle U-shaped rack rather than the advertised egg storage unit which I could use and find actually useful. Can I purchase one from Samsung, and if so HOW?

Otherwise the product seems EXCELLENT and we are very happy with it.

Thank you for the questions. The black bar in your freezer is the index roller, which can be fixed by following the instructions in the online Troubleshooting Guide. Follow the link below, then select "How To" > "Metal Black Rod Lying In The Bottom Of My Freezer": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

For assistance with the temperature and the missing egg container, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further. Incidentally, the wine rack can also be used to store 2-liter soda bottles; perhaps it would be more useful to you with that purpose in mind.

Samsung does not have an official recommendation one way or another when it comes to the use of surge protectors. If you live in an area that is prone to power outages and surges, I would suggest contacting your local power company, appliance retailer or electrician for help determining if you would benefit from using a surge protector for your refrigerator. If you do, please be sure to select a surge protector that is rated appropriately for your product's electrical rating. The RF267AEWP is rated for 115 volts, 60 Hz and 11.6 amps.

There are a number of factors that can effect the through-the-door ice and water dispenser's ability to work properly. Please check the following:
- Is the water supply valve turned on, and are hoses free of bends or kinks that could obstruct water flow?
- Is your home's water pressure at the recommended 20-125 psi?
- Is the door closed? Water and ice will not dispense if the door is open.
- Is the water filter installed properly, with indicators aligned in the proper position?
- Have you pressed the Ice/Water button until the Water icon lights up on the control panel? Be sure Child Lock is not engaged, which would disable the dispenser.
- You may need to press the dispenser lever for an extended period to give the water time to make it through the lines. Once water does start to come out, dispense 5-6 gallons to bleed the air and dissipate any residual taste of plastic from the new lines.
- If water still doesn't come out, try removing the filter, even though it's new. A clogged or partially clogged filter can restrict water flow and would need to be replaced, regardless of age.
- Check the water line connection to the door located under the left door hinge cover to make sure it is engaged and free from obstruction.
- Make sure the refrigerator and freezer temperatures are set to the recommended 38°F and -2°F, respectively.

If, after checking all of these factors, the water still isn't dispensing, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

While it is important to use a water filtration system to prevent the buildup of mineral deposits or other debris from clogging the refrigerator's water lines, the RF267AERS dispenser should work without a filter cartridge installed. If you presently have a filter installed and the dispenser is not working, it is possible that the filter is clogged or partially clogged and needs to be replaced. Try removing the filter and dispensing water to determine if this is the case. If water still won't dispense after pressing the lever for several seconds (to allow air to pass through the line), try raising the refrigerator temperature. If the temperature is set too low, the storage tank or lines can freeze. The recommended temperature is 38°F.

Other factors that can prevent the dispenser from operating properly include insufficient water pressure or blockage in the water supply lines; or a break in the water line connection to the door dispenser. Check to make sure the water supply valve is turned on all the way, that there are no bends or kinks in the water line leading to the refrigerator, and check the water line connection located under the left door hinge cover. Instructions for removing the hinge cover and for connecting the water lines to the refrigerator can be found in the user manual.

If these suggestions do not help you resolve the issue, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

If your RF267AERS is dripping water into the dispenser tray, it's possible at least one of the following things is happening:
- there are ice fragments remaining in the dispenser chute from the last time crushed ice was dispensed;
- there is air in the water line;
- the water filter is clogged or partially clogged and needs to be replaced;
- the door flap leading from the ice bucket to the chute is stuck open due to ice buildup.

If, in fact, the water in your ice tray is not freezing, please try lowering the temperature to a maximum of -2°F for the freezer compartment and 38°F for the refrigerator. Otherwise, please refer to the online Troubleshooting Guide, which can be accessed through the following link, then select "Water And Ice" > " Water Is Leaking" > "Water Is Dripping From The Dispenser: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

If these tips do not help you resolve the issue, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your RF267AEBP. Samsung refrigerators are equipped with on-board diagnostic systems to help technicians determine where a fault lies and how to repair it. Unplugging the refrigerator may clear the code, making it difficult to diagnose. I would suggest contacting 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

Frost in the freezer results from the moisture in warmer air condensing on the cold surfaces in the freezer. While a small amount can be normal if the freezer drawer is opened frequently and in very warm, humid environments, excessive frost can be caused by either the drawer not closing properly or by inadequate ventilation, as you noted. Please click on the following troubleshooting link, then click on Operation > Freezer > Frost in the Freezer: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

I'm sorry to hear the water tastes badly. Bad tasting or bad smelling water is most commonly experienced with the first few gallons of water the refrigerator dispenses. Samsung recommends you dispense 2-3 gallons of water after you initially set the water line up to flush the system. If your refrigerator is not brand new, and you are experiencing an odor in the ice or water, replace the filter. The filter may not be clogged, but it may be contaminated with excessive impurities. After installing the new filter, flush the system by dispensing approximately 2-3 gallons of water.
