Yes - the ice maker simply doesn't work as it's supposed to. I've followed the initialization instructions twice, and the thing still doesn't work. I reported this to Samsung, and they sent me a new ice maker. I followed all the instructions very closely for initial set up again, and it still doesn't work properly. I pretty much ONLY get CRUSHED ice. Very seldom do we see an actual cube when it's set on cubed ice. Low production really isn't a problem for us, I just hate crushed ice.

It is not unusual for a small amount of residual crushed ice to dispense before the cubes, if crushed had been dispensed previously. However, if ice continues to be crushed despite cubed being selected, your refrigerator may require service.

To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

If you use crush ice often, you have to clean out the chute. If you do not the small pieces will add up. At some point it will freeze up the mechanism that switches it from cubed to crushed. Then you will have to take out ice maker, and make sure the mechanism has all the ice out of it. This should help your cubed ice to work well again. I like crushed ice sometimes, but I just quit using the crushed good luck

There are a number of products available at your local appliance, hardware, home improvement or even grocery store specifically designed to clean real stainless steel. Simply follow the instructions on the package. Another option is to apply a small amount of baby oil to the stainless finish using a clean, dry, lint-free cloth. This will not only clean the stainless steel, but may help prevent fingerprints from recurring.

The best solution we have found to date is to use the wipes for stainless grills. IMPORTANT. Then you have to follow quickly with a microfiber cloth to avoid the streaks.

Microfiber Cloth and Distilled Water.

If clear of electronics panel, use a dedicated spray bottle and distilled water. If around panels, spray the cloth, not the surface.

No streaking (from chemicals in ordinary tap water).

Samsung does not have an official recommendation one way or another when it comes to the use of surge protectors. If you live in an area that is prone to power outages and surges, I would suggest contacting your local power company, appliance retailer or electrician for help determining if you would benefit from using a surge protector for your appliances. If you do, please be sure to select a surge protector that is rated appropriately for your product's electrical rating.

Thank you!

Question

What is the color and material on the sides? HELP!!!

What color or material is on the sides? If the sides are gray is the material similar to stainless steel? Cabinet color says stainless steel. Do the sides look like they are stainless steel even if they aren't actually stainless steel? Please answer as soon as possible as I am replacing a GE Profile fridge that has gray material sides that do not go with my decor. Does Samsumg make a french door fridge with stainless steel sides or even black sides in a 24 cu side or larger?

The cabinet sides of the RF267AERS are a textured metal material, painted gray in color. Samsung doesn't make stainless steel "wraps" for the refrigerators, as this would significantly increase the price. We no longer make Real Stainless or Stainless Platinum refrigerators with black sides either, since most customers prefer the closer match of the gray sides.

The RF267AERS will sound an alarm when either door or the freezer drawer is left open more than 3 minutes. This alarm is initially set to "on", but can be turned off by pressing the Alarm button on the control panel. If you've had the door open more than 3 minutes and the alarm has not beeped, then try pressing the Alarm button to turn this feature back on if it had been turned off.

Question

Do we need to do anything when we shut off our water?

Just bought a Model RFG297AARS french door stainless refrigerator. We live six months in Florida and six in Michigan. When we leave Florida, we'll shut off all the water in our condo. Our new refrigerator will be left ON (and there'll be some items left in it). With the water off, is there anything special we should do with the ice maker?

I would recommend shutting off the ice maker as well. If you don't, the ice maker may continually run the water pump trying to fill the ice trays up. If that happens, it could really shorten the life of your ice maker.

In addition to shutting off both the water and the icemaker, I would suggest emptying the icebucket to prevent any ice left there from forming a block that could damage the icemaker over time.

Question

What is happening to my freezer?

The last couple of days, when I open the freezer compartment, there is a lot of frost, primarily on the left side. The plexiglass front of the pullout shelf is covered in frost. Yesterday, I removed most of the frost, but it's back today. Heck, frost didn't build up that fast in the regular (not frostfree) freezer I used to have. What do you think is happening? Is there probably a blockage somewhere, or something else, that is easy to fix?

Frost in the freezer results from the moisture in warmer air condensing on the cold surfaces in the freezer. While a small amount can be normal if the freezer drawer is opened frequently and in very warm, humid environments, excessive frost can be caused by either the drawer not closing properly or by inadequate ventilation. It isn't unusual for the icemaker to stop making ice if the filter needs to be changed because of the filter's effect on water pressure. After changing the filter, be sure to bleed air from the lines by dispensing 5-6 gallons of water, then pressing the Test button on the side of the icemaker.

Question

White powder in the ice cubes

Has anyone else seen white powder in their ice cubes after they melt?
I get a fair amount of white powder in the ice cubes that can be clearly seen after the ice starts to melt in a glass. I've changed the filter, ran a gallon of water thru it and still get the same white powder. The cooled water from the refrigerator is fine. It comes out clear and there is no white powder in it.

The Deli drawer can be removed for, say, cleaning, but the Veggie/Crisper drawers cannot be moved down to create more space.

If the Deli Drawer is not an important feature to you, then perhaps you would like to consider the RF26XAERS. This model has most of the same features as the RF267AERS, but no Deli Drawer. You can view more information on this model by clicking here: http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/.... Thank you for considering Samsung!

Question

How can you fix the water drip from the water dispenser on the door?

We just bought the refrigerator because it is highly rated, good looking, and spacious.
BUT...the water dispenser has a drip. We have emptied gallons of water to get rid of any air in the line and it still drips. We have checked and tightened the water entry line in the back of the refrigerator. We had someone work on the installation who is knowledgeable but we have this drip problem. I have seen others complain about it online. Do we have to call in a Samsung service repair person? Will the repair person be able to fix the drip?

I am disappointed that this problem is occuring and hope we will be able to fix it soon.
Thank you for any help.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. There are a couple of possible causes for the dispenser dripping more than just a few drops after being used. One possibility does involve bleeding the air out of the line, which you've tried.

Following are the other two tips to try prior to contacting Samsung for service:
1. Try replacing the water filter, regardless of age. A clogged, or partially clogged, water filter can cause the dispenser to drip.
2. Clean the ice chute, which leads from the internal icemaker to the door dispenser, so it's free of any residual ice chips. If there is ice left in the chute it can drip as it melts. This happens most often when dispensing crushed ice.

If, after trying these possible remedies, you continue to experience this issue, please contact Samsung for service either by submitting an online service request through the link below, or calling 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

Water pooling under the refrigerator drawers may be an indication that your refrigerator requires service. Before requesting service, please try wiping up the water and rechecking after 24 hours. If the water does not return, then it's possible the water was caused by condensation from the doors having been left open. If the problem recurs, then your unit likely requires service. Please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. Frost in the freezer is likely caused by either the drawer not closing properly or by inadequate ventilation. Please click on the following troubleshooting link, then click on Operation > Freezer > Frost in the Freezer: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

After following the instructions provided, if you continue to have this issue please contact Samsung through the "Create online service request" link, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

The RF267 comes with one icemaker in the refrigerator compartment, and Samsung does not make an icemaker that can be added to the freezer compartment for this model. We do, however, have another model, the RF268, which has two icemakers factory-installed: one in the refrigerator and one in the freezer. This is called a "Dual Ice" model because of this feature.

Samsung also makes a Dual Ice model in the 29 cubic foot capacity series, the RFG298.
