Just had the service guy come out today for a ice-maker issue and asked him about the 3 inches of solid ice under the cool select pantry. He said that it as a clog in the drainage something or other. Do all refrigerators look that cheap on the inside? The exterior looks solid, but what I saw made me have second thoughts about Samsung. Now I am looking to replace my ice-maker, but can't find the part number.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. If ice is forming under the Cool Select Pantry Drawer, it's possible that your refrigerator temperature is set either too high or too low. Please adjust the temperature to 38°F, if necessary. The water that is freezing may be the result of condensation or it may be an indication of a leak that may require service to repair. Try wiping up the water and waiting 24 hours. If water has accumulated there again by the next day, your refrigerator will require service. Please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Though it's true that the Power Freeze and Power Cool options can help speed the rate of cooling, Samsung recommends allowing the system up to 24 hours from the time it's first plugged in to reach the set temperature. Please keep in mind that the variance between the set temperature and the room temperature may vary quite a bit from one home to the next.

Question

My Ice Maker is not working properly

For the past month the ice maker has been getting slower and making a knocking sound as it's working.
I recently pulled the device out, cleaned it, checked it and reinstalled, it is now trying to fill with water and get halfway through and a bell tone goes ding dong then shuts down again, is my ice maker toast or is there a quick repair or cleaning technique needed.

The water filtration system should have a new filter put onto it. I have noticed several months ago that the Samsung replacement filters being sold at Lowes had the same replacement part number I had been using in the past, but they seemed to choke the system, slowing down the flow of water. I replaced the filter again and the issue went away, so try replacing your filter and se if it solves the problem, if not, you may need to contact a repair man. Hope this helps!

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your icemaker. If you've recently replaced the filter, please try dispensing 5-6 gallons of water to bleed air from the lines. If the filter has been installed for a while, consider replacing it since a clogged or partially clogged filter can hinder water flow to the icemaker, then bleed the air from the lines. Press the Test button on the side of the icemaker. If the tray still won't fill with water, your icemaker may require service. Question

fridge operation problem

I have a model Model RF267ABRS French door fridge.

We have had this problem, since it was new, 7-08, but it has gotten worse.

It collects an excessive amount of water under the Cool Select Pantry Drawer. We have to remove the drawer monthly and mop up the water with a towel. It completely soaks a large towel.
If we don't do this regularly we have water on the floor.

Please help.

Question

Has anyone else noticed that the stainless steel door has buckled in several places?

I first noticed this on the left door with the dispenser unit in it. A large indentation appeared about day 4 after delivery. I wondered if it was because it was getting cold. Now, over time there are several indentations on the other doors. We have no children who live here; it is only two 60 year olds who do not use the refrigerator all that much. Also, the ice dispenser is good, but the water dispenser has always been lousy.

Considering the refrigerator is the first appliance you see as you enter our home and you can see it from the master bedroom down the hall, this appearance problem is not good advertising for the Samsung French door units.

I also noticed a small indentation on the ice maker door, below and just right of the ice/water dispenser a few inches above the freezer door. It appeared to be delivered to my home in flawless condition. We first noticed this about one week after delivery in Jan. of 2010. Now 6 months later, there have not been any more indentations any where else on this refrigerator. We also have no idea how this indentation got there. (No kids, or animals-just my wife and I - both 50+) . We love our refrigerator except for this cosmetic defect. Is there anything we or Samsung can do to fix this very small indentation. Our neighbors, family and friends all notice this flaw in our otherwise perfect new kitchen that includes the Samsung suite (Induction range, microwave and dishwasher) of stainless steel appliances.

The RF267AERS is the recently upgraded version of the RF267ABRS. It has all of the same great features as the previous model, with a few improvements: LED lighting, increased energy efficiency, updated handles to match other Samsung kitchen appliances, and a new track on the upper freezer drawer to allow the drawer to extend fully. Some of the features that have been so positively received in the past that have not changed include the great use of space, beautiful design and Twin Cooling™ system which keeps food fresher longer and reduces odor transfer between refrigerator and freezer.

It's also worth noting that both of these models are part of Samsung's award-winning line up of refrigerators that have been recognized by JD Power & Associates with the Overall Customer Satisfaction Award for five consecutive years now: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Question

We bought our refrigerator a couple of months ago and followed all of the procedures for the ice and water dispensers. I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. Since the water filter is the only part of the refrigerator which could have an impact on the taste of your water and ice, it's likely that the taste is either being effected by something outside of the refrigerator (such as the pipes or water lines leading to it), or the filters themselves. I would suggest removing the filter temporarily, and tasting the water after running a gallon or so through without the filter. If the "metallic" taste remains, then it is likely coming from your pipes. If you prefer the taste of the water without the filter, then you could choose to use the refrigerator without the water filter cartridge installed. However, it's important to note that Samsung recommends using either an external filtration system or the refrigerator's water filter to avoid problems that could result from the debris and minerals from unfiltered water clogging the water lines in the refrigerator.

LED lighting has become very popular, and many customers do prefer it due to both its appearance and its energy efficiency, which is why Samsung has come out with new models that include this feature, like the RF267AERS. Unfortunately, the RF267ABRS cannot be retrofitted with LED lighting, and Samsung does not sell a separate LED lighting fixture capable of being installed in a non-LED unit. Making such changes would likely impact the warranty.

Great question! The reason for the two sets of dimensions is that many standard cabinets that are above the refrigerator are only 12" deep, so do not extend all the way to the front of the refrigerator where the hinges are located. Even full-depth, 24" cabinets would sit behind the hinges of the RF267ABRS, which is 29.1" deep to the front of the refrigerator's case. It may be desirable for the refrigerator to be recessed so the hinges fall below the cabinet if the cut-out area is deeper than 24".

Please keep in mind that Samsung recommends leaving at least 1" above and behind, and 1/2" on each side of the RF267ABRS in order to provide adequate air circulation for the cooling system to work properly and most efficiently. Based on this recommendation, you should have at least 69-1/2" in height available behind the hinges in order to accommodate this model, or 71" if the refrigerator is to be recessed fully below the cabinets.

Thank you for your consideration!

Water pooling underneath the Cool Select Pantry Drawer could be caused by condensation or by a leaky component. Please click on this link to the Troubleshooting article on this topic to help determine the cause and resolve the issue: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

Once the Troubleshooting Guide opens, click on Water And Ice > Water Is Leaking > Water Is Underneath The Vegetable Drawers (this applies to the Pantry Drawer, as well). I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue with your RF267ABRS icemaker. I would suggest checking your water pressure to make sure it's within the recommended 20-125 psi; make sure the water valve is turned on all the way and the water lines are not bent or kinked in any way; and try replacing the water filter. If these suggestions do not resolve your issue, your refrigerator may require service. Please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can help determine whether service is necessary, and what your options are.

There are a variety of factors that can effect your icemaker's ability to make ice. I would suggest you visit the Troubleshooting Guide through the link below, then select "Water And Ice" ► "Ice" ► "Test the Icemaker/ Ice Maker Reset Button Location (Revised)": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

The above article provides instructions for locating the reset button. If this does not resolve the issue, please read some of the other relevant articles in the Guide for additional suggestions related to checking the water supply and pressure, the water filter and making sure the set temperature is cold enough. Please make sure the icemaker has not been turned off by pressing the Ice Off button, as well.

In answer to your question regarding the feeler arm, it should be down if the level of ice is low, and should only be raised by the ice cubes as they accumulate in the bucket below it.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. This inconsistent water flow may be the result of a partially clogged filter, air in the lines, or the water line connection may need to be checked. If the refrigerator was recently installed, or if the filter was just replaced, it is likely there is air in the lines causing the issue. Try dispensing 3 or more gallons of water to bleed the air from the lines. If the problem persists, try checking the wiring and water line connections under the left door hinge cover. For instructions, please refer to page 13 of the User Manual.

To determine whether the filter is the culprit, try removing the cartridge temporarily. If the water flow is consistent without the filter installed, you'll need to replace the filter cartridge with a new one.

If none of these suggestions help you to resolve the issue, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.
