Questions & Answers for samsung 25.5 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator

Question

Ice forming inside back wall of refrigerator

Ice is forming inside back wall of refrigerator at the exhaust ports. So much ice formed that the fan stopped turning. I unplugged the refrigerator and removed the inside back panel exposing the fan and radiator fins. This whole area was covered in ice. I defrosted all the ice with a hair dryer, replaced the inside back panel and plugged it back in. I hear everything working and I feel cold air coming out the ports. Everything seems to be working okay. This is the second time it has happened. First time was about six months ago. What would cause this condition?

Question

New samsung fridge lights on inside and temp readings are right but why doesn't it have cooling power?

Fridge was just delivered yesterday and have been on the phone with the retailer about how to set the temps. after the retailer store hours it still didn't feel cool at all even though the readings said the temps were what they were supposed to be. We will be calling our retailer today. I haven't got to unload my food yet since delivery yesterday. I hope I can soon. I hope it's something simple.

Question

Is there any way to defrost my RF266AERS fridge? (Freezer section is OK)

Within 3 months of installing my fridge, the fridge coils frooze up stopping the fan & the unit got hot. The repairman took about an hour using a hair dryer to defrost the unit, then removed the plastic/foam back plate exposing the fan, & spent another hour to complete defrosting the coils. Around every 3 months, this happens. I have defrosted this three times so far. Well, it is frozen again & I an really getting tired of it. Through the Samsung Service Center, I set up to have the repairman return. the repairman told me it is out of warranty & I would be charged - again, only to defrost the unit. I cancelled the service call.
This unit needs a defroster. How can it be done? Can one be added? Thanks,

Question

Side clearances

When I used your Refrigerator size selector guide, the RF263AERS was listed. I purchased the RF266AERS which has the same dimensions as the RF263. Now I read in the owner's manual (which is the same as the RF263) that I need 2" clearance on the sides and top. My cabinetry will not allow this. Can you tell me why the selector guide said I could install this refrigerator in the space I have? What are the consequences of not having the 2" clearance?
Thank you.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

We have conferred with our resident home appliance specialist and he said that the clearance is required to provide the necessary air circulation. Another way to describe this is that the heat produced by the unit when in operation needs to be able to dissipate.

Question

Loose part in freezer tray

Hi

I'm having heavy frost buildup in my freezer. While following the procedure outlined on the website to remedy the problem (leave freezer door open and wipe frost clean with a towel), I noticed some pieces lying loose in the ice tray - see attached picture. Can someone help identify what these are, and where they need to go?

Thank you for contacting Samsung. This refrigerator uses 470 KWh/mo. I don't have details on its surge amount; however, I'd caution against attempting to power the surge based solely on a generator. You may wish to consider using an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) in conjunction to handle the surge. Thank you for being a Samsung customer!

Question

RF266AER vs RFG 293HAR

I noted that both of these refrigerators are about the same size. Why does RFG293HAR have capacity of 29 cuft. whereas RF266AER only has 25.5 cuft??
Can someone please double check that RF266AERS TOTAL DEPTH WITH HANDLE installed is 33", not 35 5/8" (I would like to buy it, but space is tight!)

Thanks for the questions. The larger capacity of the RFG293HARS is made possible by special insulation that enables thinner walls without compromising the effectiveness or the efficiency. Because of this, the RF266AERS and RFG293HARS do have the same outside dimensions. The depth of both models with the handles is 35-5/8"; the 33" measurement does not include the handles.

Question

Confusing Depth of RF277AERS

I see several depths listed for this model WITH THE DOOR HANDLES ATTACHED. What is the true TOTAL Depth of this fridge?

Owners Manual says "Depth E" is 35 5/8"
Samsung website states:
Product Dimensions with Handles: 35 3/4" (W) x 69 3/4" (H) x 33" (D)
but the drawing on top of the page shows: 35 5/8"

What is the Depth with Handles ON: 35 5/8 OR 33 inches?

The depth of the RF266AERS (there is currently no model RF277AERS) with the handles is 35-5/8".

The depth with the doors but without the handles is 33" (not everyone counts the handles as part of the depth of the refrigerator). The case depth (no doors or handles) is 29-1/8".

answer 1
It's normal for a few drops of water to come out after dispensing, so you should continue to hold the glass there for a couple of seconds. If the dripping seems to have increased, it's possible the filter is clogged or partially clogged and needs to be replaced. The filter is designed to last about 6 months, but may need to be replaced sooner in homes with higher than average water use or a high level of impurities in the water supply. After the filter is replaced, be sure to dispense 5-6 gallons of water to remove air from the lines. Air in the lines can also cause the dispenser to drip.

If the dripping continues and is constant, service will likely be necessary. If this is the case, please submit your contact information to our support team through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.
