Question

How screwed am I if we don't have the recommended clearances around the refrigerator?

Refrigerator is set against a wall with custom cabinetry on both sides and above. There is very little space around it for air circulation. It was installed about two weeks ago and seems to be functioning just fine so far. Redoing the cabinet to create space on the sides and above is out of the question. Is the circulation issue serious enough to justify modifying the floor or rear wall with venting to allow some circulation?

Thank you for the question, and for choosing Samsung. The clearance recommendations are intended to optimize the refrigerator's performance and efficiency. Providing less than the recommended clearance could impact the performance of the cooling system and increase energy consumption.

If your ice is wet, lower the temperature 2°. Check the freezer door seal for rips, tears, and deformities. Make sure your freezer door is closed properly. The freezer door rollers may not be indexed properly. To reindex the freezer door rollers, open the freezer drawer about 8" amd then slam it closed. This action will ensure the door rolloers are properly indexed.

If the suggestions above do not solve the issue, it may be a good idea to have a technician look at your refrigerator. To initiate the service process click the following link, or cut and paste it in your browser: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/o...

The slide-out shelf from the RF267 does fit the RF263 and RF266 models, and the part number is DA90-04915A. Please visit SamsungParts.com or call 800-627-4368 to speak with an agent for pricing and availability. I would recommend confirming this part number with them, as well, prior to placing the order.

To help the doors on your RF266 French Door close more easily, you may need to adjust the leveling so it leans back slightly, especially if the door bins are heavy with stored food.

The refrigerator Door Mdel #RF266AERS is not leveling. How do I level it?

The fridge is being encased in cabinet panels and I can't fit the panels in because of this problem. The floor the fridge is on is level. Should I shim the front a rear wheels on the fridge? I have already tried to level it using the adjustable feet on the front

You should be able to level your RF266AERS side to side by adjusting the front leveling legs. Samsung refrigerators are designed to lean back slightly so the doors will close more easily. The interior of the unit should be level. You can check that by placing a level inside of the unit. We do have a part available that can be used to raise the back of the fridge to give it a more aesthetically pleasing look, though I'm not sure this will help you with your cabinet panels. The part is basically a shim or pad that slides under the back wheels. I have listed the part number below. If you are still in warranty you can call 800-SAMSUNG and a Customer Service Representative should be able to send you the part at no cost to you. If you are out of warranty you can visit SamsungParts.com to order the part.

Question

I need the part Number for the Water filter "BYPASS PLUG"

I already have a Water filter System (carbon/reverse osmosis) supplying ultra clean water to my refrigerator, and don't require the internally furnished Samsung one. Most Refrigerator brands supply a "Bypass Plug/Cap" that allows the homeowner use of their own water filter system. I am seeking the part number for this item, as I do not wish to use the internally supplied filter as it is redundant.

Your RF266 refrigerator should have come with a cap for the filter housing, though it is not necessary to use it. You can remove the water filter cartridge and still use the ice and water features in the refrigerator without a cap as long as your home does have a back up filtration system to prevent damage to the water lines. If you prefer to use a cap, please visit SamsungParts.com for information and availability.

Question

Refrigerator Side Clearance

I'm interested in the RF266AEPN and RF263AEPN. My refrigerator opening measures 37" x 71". On the right side, the top cabinet extends down 17" and the bottom cabinet extends 37" leaving the middle 17" completely exposed. Is this enough space or do I need to go for a smaller refrigerator. The only other options I see are the 18 cu. ft. and 20 cu. ft. fridges, but I want something bigger. Thanks.

Both the RF266AEPN and RF263AEPN are 35-3/4" wide, and Samsung recommends leaving at least one inch on each side to allow sufficient air flow for the cooling system to work properly and most efficiently. I cannot advise you to provide less than the recommended space.

We have had our Samsung RF266AERS refrigerator for about a month. I decided not to connect the water line and disabled the icemaker. The refrigerator is quiet most of the time. Unfortunately, sometimes it makes cracking or popping sounds during a cooling cycle. Is this normal?

Thanks for the question. Some cracking and popping noises during cooling are normal, and are the result of the material in the freezer expanding and contracting. When you say you disabled the icemaker, do you mean you pressed the Ice Off button on the controls? If not, then I would suggest doing so. This will prevent the icemaker from attempting to draw water to make ice, which can cause noise that is easily preventable.

If your RF266AERS water dispenser is not dispensing properly and you've checked the water connection, please try pressing the dispenser pad for several seconds to move air through the lines. Once the water does start flowing, you may need to dispense as much as 5-6 gallons to bleed all the air from the lines. This should be done each time you change the water filter.

If the dispenser still isn't working, try removing the filter temporarily, then press the pad again. If water flows without the filter installed, it either wasn't installed properly or it's clogged and should be replaced. The filter cartridges should last up to 6 months based on normal usage, but may need to be replaced sooner if used frequently or if there is a high level of impurities in the water supply.

If the problem persists, your refrigerator may require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

While the RF266AERS is not available in a 33-inch wide model specifically, Samsung does have some narrower French Door options to choose from. These include the 32-1/4" wide RF217ACRS, which has an icemaker in the freezer but no water dispenser, and the Four-Door RF4267HARS French Door which is 32-3/4" wide and has a through-the-door ice and water dispenser, flexible shelving and independently-controlled Flex Zone Drawer. More information on both of these models can be found on this website.

Question

Depth of Samsung Rf266aers?

We have purchased a Samsung RF266AERS refrigerator. I'm not sure we can fit it into the house thru the interior doors. What is the depth of the refrigerator with the doors ( both french doors and the freezer door) taken off? Can this be easily done?

answer 1
The depth of the RF266AERS without the doors and drawer is 29-1/8". Once you add the clearance necessary for the water line and power cord, you'll find the refrigerator will fit through a doorway as narrow as 30" wide.

The process for removing the doors and drawer is not difficult. Instructions for detaching and reattaching the refrigerator doors are in the User Manual, which can be downloaded from the product page of this website. There is actually an easier way to remove the bottom freezer drawer that does not even require any tools; just follow these steps:
1. Open the freezer drawer and remove the upper "Auto Pull-Out" freezer drawer by lifting it up and pulling it toward you.
2. Locate the white plastic release buttons located toward the rear of the metal freezer drawer railing on both the right and left side.
3. Pull the freezer drawer out while pressing the release buttons (you may need a second person to help with this step). The entire drawer and railing should pull out together.
4. To reassemble, just align and slide the drawer rail back onto the track, being sure to push it in the entire way so the buttons lock back in place, then replace the upper bin, too.

Thanks for choosing Samsung!

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. If ice is forming in the refrigerator, please try adjusting the temperature to 38°F, if it's currently set differently. The water that is freezing may be the result of condensation or it may be an indication of a leak that will require service to repair. Try wiping up the water and waiting 24 hours. If water has accumulated there again by the next day, your refrigerator will likely require service. Please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

The RF263AERS and RF266AERS are virtually the same, except that the RF266 has an internal filtered water dispenser on the left inside wall of the refrigerator compartment.

Both models have automatic icemakers in the freezer, Twin Cooling systems, EZ Open Handles, Auto Pull-Out drawers, and are very energy efficient.

RF266AERS
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with the icemaker on your new RF266AERS. If you've tried pressing the test/reset button and the issue persists, your refrigerator will likely require service.

First, please check the following:
1. The recommended temperature for the refrigerator and freezer compartments are 38°F and -2°F, respectively. If the freezer temperature is set higher than this, it could effect ice production.
2. Is the icemaker turned off? If so, press the "Ice Off" button on the control panel to turn the icemaker back on.
3. Is something pressing against the lever that detects when the ice bin is full? The icemaker will not produce ice if it detects a full bin.
4. The Power Freeze feature can help increase ice production by running the compressor for an extended period of time.

If the problem still persists after checking the above items, please contact Samsung service by submitting an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

Is there a way to limit the opening range of the doors?

I just received my new AERS266. After installation, I notice if my right refrigerator door is opened to its max range, the stainless steel face will smash into the shaft of my pantry door knob (lever). It looks as if the range of the door is controlled by the bottom bracket. Is there a way to limit this range (i.e. adjustment, or alternate bracket?) Otherwise I can forsee someone opening it too much and denting the stainless. Thanks!

Thank you for the question. Samsung does not have a device to block the doors from opening past a certain point, and if you tried to limit the range too much you might not be able to open the drawers inside the refrigerator the whole way. I would not recommend pushing the refrigerator back into a cabinet cut-out past the front edge of the refrigerator case in order to allow the doors to swing open and avoid damage to the stainless steel finish.

Thank you for the question. If you are unable to pop the hinge back into place independently, I would suggest following these steps for removing/replacing the whole flap:
1. Open the left side door.
2. Locate and remove the two screw covers on the center of the flap.
3. Remove both screws.
4. Pull up on the flap assembly to remove it from the door.
5. Disconnect the electrical connection.
6. Reverse the removal procedure for installation.
