I would suggest checking the supply valve to make sure it is fully open. Also, make sure the water line is not kinked.

My refer was doing the same thing, BTW, the Sammy standard for ice production is 72 cubes per day. Any less than that, then you a valid complaint. Any more than that, and we're all envious of you. Let's assume that your water is flowing OK, i.e. dispenser, and the filter isn't bad. I have had this issue myself and the solution is A) a new ice maker and B) a new control board. It is important to change the board when changing operational parts. I experienced some (upgrade version) issues with the new control board and now my freezer light doesn't work, but the ice maker is spitting out 72-78 cubes per day. Kinda weak in my book but I don't set the standards. Good luck, as a fellow owner, we've invested way too much to have these little issues with such a nice fridge.

We were having similar problems--at first because there was air in the water line. Once the air was cleared production didn't happen at all. The ice test button would not kick out any ice--basically because there was no ice to kick out. What we did was unplug the refrigerator for about 3 minutes and replug it in. Just turning on and off the ice through the control panel did not work but "reseting" it like you would a computer seems to clear the memory and it works fine now.

Hope this helps.

Question

How much ice should an RF266 model make per day

We have had our new RF266aepn model now for 48hrs. We waited 24 hrs to turn on the ice maker and have only had 3 loads of ice made. The water connection is on, the line is not kinked, there is no air in the line. What can we expect to see. We thought we would have a near full ice tray in 24 hrs.

The RF266AEPN is designed to produce approximately 4 lbs. of ice (or 133 cubes) in a 24 hour period under ideal conditions, including the temperature in the freezer set at a maximum of -2°F. Keep in mind that each time the freezer drawer is opened, warm air enters and cold air escapes, which effects the freezing process. In addition, placing warmer items in the freezer, such as after grocery shopping, will impact the overall temperature of the freezer compartment which will also effect the freezing process.

To help speed up ice production, you can select Power Freeze on the control panel. A couple of other items you could check, in addition to those you mentioned, include the water pressure, which should be at 20~125 psi, or possible clogs or misalignment in the water filter installation. Finally, try pressing the icemaker Test button, as instructed on page 18 of the User Manual.

I hope these suggestions help-

From a field tech with personal contact with the Sammy techs, the Sammy standard is 72 cubes per 24 hour period. Kinda weak in my book but I don't set the standards for overseas manufacturing. The only way I found to increase production was to have the techs replace the ice maker AND (most importantly) a new control board at the same time.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue with your RF266AEPN. If the ice bucket is too full and is obstructing the Auto Pull-Out Drawer from opening all the way, I would suggest pressing the Ice Off button on the control panel to prevent additional ice from being made, then try to pull the drawer out manually enough to reach in and remove some ice. If you are able to open the drawer to remove the ice, check to see if the plastic lever that hangs down over the icebucket is able to move up and down. If it's stuck, then your refrigerator may require service. If you are unable to open the drawer to gain access to the icemaker, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you further.

This model has a button on the control panel to turn off the ice maker. If not, you've posted this under a different model number.
I wish I had your pain, I can't get 72 cubes per day from mine (the Sammy standard). As far as the sliding drawer, slam the freezer door shut with a LITTLE authority and this will re-calibrate the guides. I'm not kidding, this is from a field tech who makes a living working on Sammy products and such.

Question

French Door Refrigerator - Ice Maker

I had water dripping to the ice bucket so checked the ice maker and the problem seems to be that the ice when the filler turns automatically do not drop to the bucket; therefore, when water is poured to the filler it overflows. I have cleaned the ice manually then reset the ice maker to see what happens. After about 8 hours, it did the same. Ice did not drop to the bucket. How can I get this fixed?

If the "secure close" feature on the doors of your RF266AEPN are not working properly, the refrigerator may need to be leveled, or the doors may need to be adjusted.
- Try placing a carpenter's level on one of the shelves inside your refrigerator, checking both front-to-back and side-to-side leveling. Adjust the front leveling legs as necessary so the leveling bubble is perfectly centered. (Note: Some people prefer to adjust the legs so the refrigerator leans back slightly to help the doors close more easily when they are heavy with food.)
- Next, make sure the doors are aligned and sealing properly when closed. Watch the top hinge area on the inside of each door as it closes: are the hooks located on the top edge of the cabinet aligning with the corresponding latch on the top edge of the door? These hooks are what "catch" the door, pulling it closed when it is only slightly open.

If these tips do not help you resolve the issue, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you further.

This is a design "INTENTION", not a design 'guarantee'. The doors ARE adjustable, per your instructions, for leveling, hinge action, etc. Maybe that'll help but again, no guarantee; but it looks good on paper.

The condensation on the glass shelves is caused by moisture in the air coming in contact with the cold surfaces in the refrigerator. In addition, it is the nature of Samsung's Twin Cooling system to maintain a higher humidity level in the refrigerator in order to help many foods to stay fresh longer.

Door alignment (check instructions for adjusting).
Seal compromise. Check them closely, if you're not cussing halfway through, you're not doing it right.
Vent blockage, in the back, up top, both sides of center, make sure they're clear.
Freezer vents can prevent proper airflow as well, check them too.
Failing that, your dual zone controller is bad and you need a new control board. When the compressor quits working, you will know that the board has failed completely.

Question

Auto pull out drawer

The user manual implies that the upper drawer in the freezer "comes out automatically as you just open the freezer door", mine doesn't. I can pull it out, but it doesn't come out automatically. Am I expecting too much or is something wrong with the drawer?

answer 1
The Auto Pull-out function of the upper freezer drawer in the RF266AEPN refers to the mechanical design which causes the drawer to be pulled out partially when the bottom freezer drawer is opened. The upper freezer drawer should pull out "automatically" several inches, making it much easier to access without bending over and reaching back into the freezer compartment. I've attached a photo of the drawer in the "pulled out" position to help you determine whether yours is set up and functioning properly. There is also a photo of the Auto Pull-out mechanism (wheel and catch) to help illustrate how this works. If the drawer is not inserted properly, the Auto Pull-out function will not work. It's important that the wheel of the drawer is in front of the "catch" - the plastic piece that sticks up from the rail beneath it.

I hope this helps to clarify how it works. Thank you for the question!

Slam the freezer door shut to reset the guides so that they grab the drawer. Now, I don't mean set off the car alarm in the garage, just use enough authority to realign some plastic pieces. No fooling. This is how it is done per the Sammy techs.

I take it you held the reset button for 6 to 8 seconds. If not, give that a try. It should send a reset command to the control board and you should hear a two tone feedback from the unit when it refills. If no joy, you need a new ice maker AND and new control board (very important).

Thank you for the question. The water filter indicator light is not actually designed to turn off after being reset, but rather to change color. The light should initially be blue, then change to pink when you have used your filter for about 5 months. When it turns red after about 6 months it is time to change the cartridge again.

You didn't mention what color the light is, so, FYI: Most Sammy models with a digital display incorporate a color changing LED indicator for the filter. It is always ON. Blue means normal, yellow is about a month to go and red means replace. It should be in the fine print of the instructions or download current PDFs on your model. I can only HOPE it is that simple and you enjoy your product. Otherwise, there could be some [more] filter issues with samsung refers.

Frost in the freezer results from the moisture in warmer air condensing on the cold surfaces in the freezer. While a small amount can be normal if the freezer drawer is opened frequently and in very warm, humid environments, excessive frost can be caused by either the drawer not closing properly or by inadequate ventilation. Please click on the following troubleshooting link, then click on Operation > Freezer > Frost in the Freezer: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

answer 2
Check the seal all the way around the freezer door. If you're not cussing half way around, then you're not inspecting it close enough, try harder. Look and feel for any distortions where the seal meets the fridge. Next, ensure no paper, twist ties, grit, or even 3 strands of hair are found on the seal surface. Contents of the freezer can also protrude. Just the slightest piece of plastic from a bread wrapper can allow outside air to infiltrate, and this causes frost build up in a hurry. Now, once you have eliminated issues with the seal, ensure nothing is blocking the upper and lower vents. It's kinda hard to block the vents on this model but check it anyway. Next, [you're gonna love this], have the wife SLAM the freezer door shut. I kid you not. This is field tech response to accurately reset and calibrate the sealing system on this model. I know, I've been through this. Note - I said the little woman, not the old man. She will be gentler, HE will set off the car alarm in the garage and prolly break the fridge. Now, turn off the energy saver and give it a couple of weeks for the frost to (noticeably) disappear. Failing all of that nonsense, you need a new control board.
Respectfully, a fellow 1800 dollar fridge owner. Enjoy.

Try the reset button on the bottom of the front part of the ice maker. Hold it in for about 8 seconds. This should trigger the ice maker to harvest (assuming it is frozen and not liquid). It will also send a reset command to the control board and you will hear a two tone acknowledgement back from the unit. If this fails to work for you, or if it fails to automatically produce at least 72 cubes per day, you may need a new ice maker AND (most importantly) a new control board at the same time. I spoke with the Sammy field techs on this and they affirmed that a new board must always accompany a new ice maker on these models.

I'm sorry to hear your RF266 icemaker is not working properly. Before calling for service, there are a few things you can try. Please check the water valve to make sure it's turned on fully, and check the hoses for bends or kinks that could obstruct water flow. If the water filter is clogged or partially clogged, it could effect the icemaker, so you may need to replace the filter cartridge. You could try removing it temporarily to see if the tray fills completely without the filter in place. If it does, the filter needs to be replaced. You should also try bleeding air from the lines by dispensing 6 gallons of water. If after trying each of these suggestions pressing the test button on the icemaker still does not result in the tray filling, it will require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

A new control board will probably increase ice production when replaced with a new ice maker as well. There may be side effects such as, no power to the freezer light (which is my issue). Samsung [standards] say that 72 cubes per 24 hours is acceptable. Good luck.

Question

What is the actual height of the rf266aepn refrigerator?

Your website give several dimensions - 65" without hinges, 69 7/8 with hinges. I have also seen 69 3/4 ".

My frig is going to be delivered next week and I am in the process of buiding shelves above the new refrigerator ( since I had to remove the cupboards ), so I need the actual height - for the back part of the unit asap. Also, Is 1" enough clearance above the refrigerator

The case height of the RF266AEPN is 68-5/8" and the height at the front with the hinges is 69-3/4". Keep in mind that the front height may vary somewhat depending on how much the leveling legs are extended.

Samsung recommends leaving at least 2" of clearance above the refrigerator to allow for air flow and ease of installation.

Thank you,

The RF266AEPN is an upgraded version of the RF266ABPN. The newer RF266AEPN has LED lighting in the refrigerator, upgraded handles, improved energy efficiency and ice production, and a new track on the Auto Pull-Out freezer drawer that allows it to extend fully. The upgraded model still has all of the great features that the previous model was so popular for: Samsung's signature Twin Cooling System, internal filtered water dispenser and icemaker, EZ Open Handle on the freezer drawer, CoolSelect Pantry Drawer with independent digital controls, and the same legacy that has earned Samsung five straight years as JD Power & Associates Overall Customer Satisfaction Award-winner (2005-2009).

Question

Does filter work with a water softener?

I understand the Samsung filters reduces chlorine, minerals, etc but my question is with a water softener, do the filters make the water safe to drink and use both in the fridge and as ice. I am concerned about using the filtered soft water for my pets as soft water can be very high in salt and not healthy for pets or people.

Samsung uses a cartridge type water filtration system. You can find the performance data sheet and water filter certification on pages 31-32 of the RF266 User Manual, which can be downloaded from the following webpage: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/d...

For questions regarding the safety of the water softener you use, and the effectiveness of filtration devices on the softener, I would suggest contacting that product's manufacturer.

What is the minimum allowable clearance around the sides, rear, and top of unit.

Would 3 to 4 inches of clearance in the rear, .5 to 1 inch clearance on the sides, and 1 inch of clearance on the top be sufficient for model RF266AEPN??
Thank you in advance for your prompt answer.

Samsung recommends 1" to 2" of clearance above and 2" behind the unit for optimal performance. If the unit is installed next to a fixed wall, you should allow 3-3/4" between the refrigerator and the wall so the door can swing open; otherwise,1/2" to 1" on the sides is fine.

The finish on the RF266AEPN is actually Samsung's Stainless Platinum finish which can be cleaned with soap and water, mild detergent or glass cleaner as needed. The recommendation to "polish once or twice per year" applies to models with real Stainless Steel exteriors, such as the RF266AERS. There are a number of products on the market specifically intended to clean real stainless. Another option is to apply a small amount of baby oil to the stainless finish using a clean, dry, lint-free cloth. This will not only clean the stainless steel, but will help prevent fingerprints from recurring.
