answer 2
Frost in the freezer results from the moisture in warmer air condensing on the cold surfaces in the freezer. While a small amount can be normal if the freezer drawer is opened frequently and in very warm, humid environments, excessive frost can be caused by either the drawer not closing properly or by inadequate ventilation. Please click on the following troubleshooting link, then click on "Troubleshooting ► Freezer ► Frost in the Freezer": http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

To remove the light cover to change bulbs in both the refrigerator and the freezer, push the cover back (which puts pressure on the release clips) while pulling it down. Please see the attached image for instructions from page 29 of the User Manual.

The handles on the RF266ABPN are attached to the refrigerator by sliding down and snapping into place. If the doors are even but the handles are not, it's possible that they were not fully installed. Try putting pressure in the downward position to the handle that is higher than the other. It may take a good amount of pressure to snap it into place. This should resolve the issue.

I'm sorry to hear the water dispenser is dripping on your RF266ABPN. If your water dispenser leaks a few drops of water after usage, it is functioning properly. If the dripping is more severe, this is usually caused by air in the water line. If your refrigerator was just installed, or if you've recently replaced the water filter, be sure to flush the dispenser thoroughly by dispensing water into a container. If the refrigerator was just installed, you may need to flush as much as 6 gallons of water to dissipate the air.

If, after flushing the system, your dispenser continues to have a constant or steady drip, it may need to be checked by a technician. Thank you for the question. While there is no temperature control for the dispensed water on the RF266ABPN, the water should be cool, but not ice cold. If the water is not cool, you may have used up the water in the refrigerator's reservoir, which holds about two liters of water.

I would suggest waiting 24 hours before dispensing water. If it still isn't cold, then your refrigerator may require service. Please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

Where could that foul smell be coming from?

Our refrigerator is 1.5 years old. Last week it started to stink. I've cleaned out all the food. Everything - from both the top and the freezer. I've wiped down the walls, etc. It still smells. Anyone else have this problem?

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. Since there is nothing within the refrigerator itself that should be causing an odor, I would suggest using an odor-absorbing substance such as baking soda to try to rid your refrigerator of the odor. If this does not resolve the issue, then you could contact 800-SAMSUNG to discuss the service options that are available to you.

If the fan sounds as though it's hitting something, or if the fan continues to operate when the doors are open, your refrigerator may require service. At the recommended 20-125 psi water pressure, a 6 oz glass of water should dispense in about 10 seconds. If yours is slower than this, please check to make sure the water valve is turned on all the way and the lines are free of bends or kinks that could obstruct flow. Try bleeding air from the lines by dispensing 5-6 gallons of water. If the water is still slow to dispense, and replacing the filter last time resolved the issue, then it is possible the filter is becoming clogged prematurely and will need to be replaced again. The filter usually needs to be replaced after about 6 months, but can become clogged sooner if your home's water supply has a high level of impurities. If this is the case, I would suggest contacting a plumber for advice.

If your RF266 has the letters "OF" on the control panel, this indicates that the "cooling off" mode has been activated. To cancel this mode, press the Power Freeze and Freezer buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds until a chime sounds and a numeric reading returns to the display, allowing you to set the desired temperature. The compressor should turn on in about 5 minutes and begin producing cold air.

If the refrigerator is actually losing power periodically, so the lights are off in addition to the controls and cooling system, please confirm that it is plugged into a working outlet providing the appropriate power supply of 115V/60 Hz and 11.6 amps. If a comparable device plugged into the same outlet works correctly but the refrigerator does not, it will require service. Please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Answer this Question

answer 1
There are several factors that can effect the ability of an icemaker to produce ice, including water supply, freezer and refrigerator temperatures, and control panel functions. Please check the following to try to resolve the issue:
- Is the water connected, the valve turned on and hoses unkinked and free of obstruction?
- Is your home's water pressure between 20~125 psi? Under normal conditions, a 5.75 oz. glass can be filled in about 10 seconds.
- Is the refrigerator set at the recommended 38°F? If the refrigerator is too cold, the water lines could freeze.
- Is the freezer temperature cold enough? Samsung recommends setting the freezer at -2°F.
- Is the icemaker turned on? Make sure the Ice Off icon is not illuminated on the display.
- Is the feeler arm under the icemaker stuck in the "up" position, which would signal to the icemaker that the bucket is full and to stop making ice.
- Is the control panel locked, which would prevent the dispenser from operating?
- Is the water filter installed properly and locked in place?
- Did you bleed the air from the lines by dispensing 5-6 gallons of water from the dispenser since installing or replacing the filter?
- Did you press the Test button on the icemaker to reset it?

If none of the above suggestions helps to resolve the issue, and the ice tray does not fill with water, try removing the water filter temporarily and press the test button on the icemaker again. If the tray fills without a filter installed, then the cartridge is likely clogged or partially clogged and should be replaced. The filter should be replaced about every 6 months based on average usage, but it could become clogged sooner if there are a lot of impurities in the water supply.

If, after checking each of these suggestions, the icemaker still isn't functioning properly, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

If there is water coming into the refrigerator (meaning, your dispenser is functioning properly) but the ice tray is not filling, it may be due to insufficient water pressure or a partially clogged filter, or it may require service to repair. Please check the following:
- Is the icemaker turned on? Make sure the Ice Off icon is not illuminated on the display.
- Is your home's water pressure between 20~125 psi? Under normal conditions, a 5.75 oz. glass can be filled in about 10 seconds.
- Did you bleed the air from the lines by dispensing 5-6 gallons of water from the dispenser since installing or replacing the filter?

If none of the above suggestions helps to resolve the issue, and the ice tray still does not fill with water, try removing the water filter temporarily and press the test button on the icemaker again. If the tray fills without a filter installed, then the cartridge is likely clogged or partially clogged and should be replaced. The filter should be replaced about every 6 months based on average usage, but it could become clogged sooner if there are a lot of impurities in the water supply.

I'm sorry to hear you're having a problem with your icemaker. Please try pressing the Test button on the bottom of the icemaker. If this does not reset the amount of water that fills the trays so it comes out as separate cubes, your refrigerator may require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

how to adjust temperature

Recently moved and took doors off fridge to get through door. The unit cools and the lights are on, but the temp controls read 88 on freezer and fridge. I had unplugged the control panel on top, but it is plugged in now and the door sensors seem to be working. None of the buttons on the panel seem to work. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry to hear you have an error code displayed on your RF266ABPN. These codes are part of an internal diagnostic system that will help guide a qualified technician to identify the cause of an issue and find a solution. When you unplug the refrigerator, the error codes and other history is cleared from the refrigerator's memory, so Samsung does not recommend doing this unless advised to do so by an authorized technician. To initiate the service process, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.
