Question

ice maker makes too much ice

The ice maker on my RF261AEAESR/AA french door refrigerator makes so much ice it causes the bucket to overflow and the ice cubes end up on the bottom of the refrigerator. Is there a way to limit the amount of ice this ice maker puts out or do I need to manually shut off the ice maker when the bucket gets full? Thanks.

Question

Loud popping noises

My Samsung fridge makes LOUD popping noises. It sounds like it could be expansion or contraction of some metal or plastic which can only mean that something was not fitted properly during manufacturing. In researching this, MANY other people have had the same complaint. It appears to be a manufacturing defect. I'm concerned that, after time and most likely after warranty, the constant expansion and contraction will cause some damage not to mention that the constant noise is really annoying.

I've attached a link to a review by another customer with the same fridge who (after way to much trouble) finally found a solution.

Unfortunately, Samsung does not offer something to make up for the gap left by the absence of the kick plate for this model.

Question

Vegetable and fruit drawers

Just bought this fridge and within one and a half weeks we had to throw all our produce away due to wilting and drying out. these are supposed to be humidity controlled drawers. when i looked at the drawers from their level in the fridge I noticed about a 1/8" air gap between the drawer and the top allowing air from the fridge into the drawers.Shouldn't there be a seal between the drawer and the lid to prevent this since it is a humidity controlled drawer?

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

We have conferred with our resident home appliance specialist and he recommends you try using the "Deli" and "Fresh" settings on the Cool Select Pantry for your fruits and vegetables.

Thanks for your interest. All of the refrigerators in Samsung's current line-up do have an automatic icemaker, but it can be turned off if you prefer not to connect the refrigerator to a water line. The icemaker itself takes up very little space since it is actually suspended from the ceiling of the freezer, and the ice storage space could easily be used for another purpose.

If you'd like to consider this option, then you might prefer the RF260BEAEWW which is similar to the RF261BEAEWW but has no water dispenser.

Question

Should there be an automatic stop on the ice maker so that the tray will not get too full?

Our ice tray gets too full and some of the ice falls behind the freezer drawer when we open or close the drawer. We have begun watching the ice level and turning off the ice maker when it is half full. We are worried about going on a trip and forgetting to turn off the ice maker. Seems like there should be an automatic shut off to prevent overflow of ice.

Question

RF261BEAESR: water filter not working properly

The water filter on my Samsumg refrigerator RF261BEAESR is not removing the chlorine taste from my water. It seemed to work the first couple weeks, but chlorine taste occurred around week 2-3. Light indicator shows filter is still good. Installation date was July 6.

Thank you for contacting Samsung. The filter in the fridge isn't meant to filter out chlorine from your water. In order to do so, you'll need to install an inline filter for your refrigerator. Please contact your favorite home improvement store for details on those. Thank you for being a Samsung customer!

Question

This refrigerator that I bought apparently has no toe kick plate. How can i hide the white wheels?

I like the refrigerator for many reasons: inside space, energy efficiency, stainless platinum color, price, etc. However I was surprised when it was installed in my kitchen yesterday that the white front wheels were very visible from across the room. I expected a kick plate to cover them. However the installers said that no kick plate was included in the delivery and there were no obvious screw holes or clips on the unit where a kick plate might attach. What ideas do you have to hide the white wheels?

Thank you . Dave

This is one of a handful of models that was designed without a kick plate/front leg cover.
