Question

My refrigerator is used in a Motorhome. Is it best to unplug when in storage for 30+ days or leave operating even though empty.

My refrigerator is installed in my motorhome which we use part-time. When the RV is not in use for 30+ days (stored inside my garage), is it best for the refrigerator to be kept operating or best to unplug it and open the doors (and drawer). The garage temperatures can range from 37 degrees F up to 95 degrees F.

Thanks for the questions. The key difference between the RF197ABRS and RF197ACRS is the introduction of LED lighting in the fridge and freezer compartments of the "ACRS" model. Like other Samsung refrigerators, these models do not have On/Off switches for power.

This model and a few sister models have the same cooling system that leaks from connectors inside of the cooling system. The water runs down the air vents that supply air to the drawers and deposits the water into those drawers.

You will need to call service to have a tech fix it. If you are out of warranty like me, you will need to find the service provider authorized by Samsung to repair the problem.

Question

temperature control

Hi,
I just got my RF217ACRS on the 2/15/12. It made funny buzzing noises when plugged in (after the 2 hours wait after it was delivered).
1 door pops open when I close the other door (especially when I close left (the fridge's right) door); the temp fluctuates a lot - power cool cools it down but when that has stopped it goes up to 41 deg F (Food spoils at or above 40 deg F)
BTW I am in Canada but cannot register my product technical issue – Toronto, Ontario)
Also there was a sticker on it
"COOLING ON/OFF (Hold 3 Sec) For in-store Demonstration Only
Remove this Label (Not for Home use)"
(DA68-02421A REV(0.0))"
that makes me think it was a DEMO?
QUESTION(S):
How do I turn the temp lower in fridge. Do I have the number increase or decrease - i.e. is setting it to 7 going to make it cooler or warmer?
Also there is no blinking when I try to change temp. And the store I got it from is COMPLETELY ignoring me now.
Please help!
P.S. with power cool – it is capable of getting to 25 deg F.

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with your RF217ACRS. Please note that it is recommended to allow the refrigerator to stand upright for as much as 24 hours prior to plugging it in if it had been laid on its side or tilted severely during transportation.

For help determining whether the noises you're hearing are normal, and maybe controllable through adjustments to the leveling, click here: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber...

It's normal for the doors to pop open slightly when the opposite door is closed due to the air compression and movement of the vertical hinged strip between the doors, but they should close and seal themselves again automatically if the unit is leveled correctly.

If the refrigerator had been in "Demo Mode", the letters "OF" would be displayed on most models and the compressor would not turn on at all despite the lights being illuminated.

Samsung recommends setting the refrigerator and freezer temperatures to 38ºF and -2ºF, respectively. Furthermore, it isn't unusual for the internal temperature measured by a household thermometer to vary by up to 4ºF compared to the digital display. If yours is within the 4ºF margin but you are concerned that it isn't cold enough, try lowering the temperature. If it is varying by more than that, please submit your contact information to our support team through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Question

How much can the height of Samsung refrigerators be differentially adjusted from left to right to accommodate a sloping floor?

If mounting feet are lowered to lift one side, will the fridge still roll forward and back, or will the wheels also be lifted, causing the fridge to scrape the floor? Also, with 1/4" lift on one side, will the doors still open and close properly? Any other tips on how to deal with the floor slant? I am considering the RF197ACRS. Thank you.

Thank you for the question. The RF197 does have leveling legs in the front which can help to make minor adjustments, but they are not designed to compensate for significant slants in the floor. Samsung recommends installing the refrigerator on an even surface, then making the adjustments as needed to level the doors so they close and seal effectively.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. If ice is forming under the produce drawers, it's possible that your refrigerator temperature is set either too high or too low. Please adjust the temperature to 38°F, if necessary. The water that is freezing may be the result of condensation or it could be an indication of a leak that would require service to repair. Try wiping up the water and waiting 24 hours. If water has accumulated there again by the next day, your refrigerator will likely require service. Please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

The styrofoam behind the vents is by design and is providing insulation, not blocking air flow. Please check the temperature settings on the refrigerator and freezer - Samsung recommends setting them to 38ºF and -2ºF, respectively - and make sure there are no packages leaning against the back of the fridge or freezer that could be blocking the vents. If the freezer continues to cool well, but the refrigerator is not, service may be necessary to determine why. To initiate the service process, please submit your contact information to our support team through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Thanks for the question. The RF197 freezer temperature cannot be set above 8ºF. If your ice cream is very hard at this temperature setting, I would suggest checking the vents in the freezer to make sure they are not blocked by a package leaning against them, and air can flow freely throughout the compartment. For further assistance, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can help determine whether your freezer requires service.

Question

Can we disconnect icemaker to allow for more room in freezer?

We have no use for the icemaker, so the appliance store said they could take it out and place it in the freezer basket for us. (Model RF197ACRS). This would allow us more room for taller items in the upper freezer basket that would otherwise not fit due to the icemaker. However, upon delivery and set up, the installer was not able to get the temperature control display to work (no temp. numbers were being displayed). Come to find out, the display wouldn't work until the icemaker was reinstalled. The installer said that it seems the 'circuit' wasn't completed untill the ice maker was plugged in. Does this sound right? Is it possible to remove the icemaker to allow for more room?
