Question

How do you attach the bottom freezer door handle?

The right side of the handle is attached but the left continues to pop off every time I open the freezer. I spoke with someone in parts and they sent two screws, but I'm not sure they are correct. There is no assembly diagram with the user manual or how to install handles for the freezer, only the refrigerator.

download manual from website and they give exact requirements: In general 1 inch on sides and top and 2 in the back is enough. Since this model has indent in the side of the door as a "handle," make sure that the unit is 1 to 2 inches outside of the cabinet space.
We purchase this unit and are extremely pleased.

The RB217ABPN actually has Samsung's Stainless Platinum finish on the doors. The real Stainless Steel version of this model is the RB217ABRS. Though the doors on this model are stainless, the refrigerator cabinet (top and sides) are textured gray paint on metal.

The RB217ABPN can be hinged on the right or the left side. The factory default is for the unit to hinge on the right (opening from left to right), but the left hinge parts come packaged with each unit.

I'm sorry to hear you're having these issues with your RB217ABPN. The most likely explanation is that the door was removed, perhaps to fit through a doorway or to reverse the swing, and it was not reattached properly. Please review the instructions found on the following page to determine whether the wires are attached correctly: http://ars.samsung.com/customer/usa...

Since these wires control the "door ajar" beeping as well as the lights, it is important for them to be attached correctly. If this does not resolve the issue, I would suggest either contacting the installer, if this was a recent purchase, or Samsung directly for service, if the refrigerator had been working correctly, and these problems are a recent occurrence.

To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

If the door on your RB217ABPN is still squeaking after applying WD40, it's possible that the WD40 did not reach the area of the hinge where the noise originated. I would suggest following the instructions in the user manual for removing the door hinge cover, then applying the WD40 to all sides of both the hinge and the area around it that may come in contact with the door bolts as the door swings. If necessary, apply WD40 in the same liberal fashion to the lower hinge, as well. Be sure to wipe up any excess to prevent it from dripping down the door and keep it away from your food.

If the icemaker is on and the water is connected and unobstructed, try pressing the test button on the bottom of the icemaker (see photo for location). Power outages are sometimes accompanied by surges that can damage the refrigerator. If your RB217 has an error code displayed and is not responsive, it may require service. These codes are part of an internal diagnostic system that will help guide a qualified technician to identify the cause of an issue and find a solution. When you unplug the refrigerator, the error codes and other history may be cleared from the refrigerator's memory, so Samsung does not recommend doing this unless advised to do so by an authorized technician. To initiate the service process, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

May I get a detail on how the ice maker goes together?

The ice maker is making ice but is frezzing together in the ice tray. I noticed a plactic cord hanging down from the ice maker that had not been hanging down before. I assume it has to do with the temp gauge on the ice maker and would like to see a detail on the ice maker so I can fix it.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. The water that is accumulating may be the result of condensation or it could be an indication of a leak that would require service to repair. Try wiping up the water and waiting 24 hours. If water has accumulated there again by the next day, your refrigerator will likely require service. answer 1
The RB217ABPN is a free-standing and portable refrigerator, not a "built-in", though it can have a built-in appearance if the cabinetry is designed around the refrigerator's measurements.

The RB217ABPN's dimensions are 32-1/4" wide by 68-3/4" high (behind the hinge) by 26-3/4" deep (without door). Samsung recommends leaving 1" on each side, 2" on top and 2" behind the refrigerator to allow sufficient air flow for the cooling system to work properly and most efficiently. Therefore, if your goal is to have the RB217 appear built-in, the space for it should be 34-1/4" wide by 70-3/4" high by 28-3/4" deep.

To find a retailer near you that carries the RB217ABPN, please click on the "Where to buy" button on the right side of the product's home page, then enter your zip code and select a radius. If this does not return the desired results, try expanding the radius, searching other zip codes in neighboring areas, or contacting retailers that carry the same model in other colors to see if they can order your preferred color. Distribution of particular models changes frequently, and information is in the process of being updated, so checking back periodically will likely yield different results.
