Questions & Answers for samsung RB215LASH

Question

My refrigerator Model # RB215LASH won't dump the ice without my pressing the reset button to dump it.

The ice maker fills and freezes just fine but it is not dumping the ice on it's own. I can press the reset button and it dumps it. But this is the only way. Is there any thing I can check or do to fix this myself?

As a quick follow-up, we spoke with our resident appliance expert and he indicated that if the "Ice Off" icon is not illuminated, you'll definitely need service. If it is illuminated, the ice maker is turned on and that's why there is no ice harvest (dump).

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

We recommend you review the following troubleshooting article.

http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber/popup/iframe/pop_troubleshooting_fr.jsp?idx=348864&modelname=RB215LASH&modelcode=&session_id=PpghhQyfHpwZXxD7Y2bPrbBv60G2DqV7LXn0b5FCQZBQxMHVvl8F%211563613049%21-2054320912%211340727450295

It recommends filing a service request only if the ice maker does not harvest (dump) the ice when the test/reset button is pressed, but if you'd to speak with a service technician about this issue, you are more than welcome to.

Question

Hi,

Thank you for the question. The icemakers in Samsung refrigerator-freezers are designed to produce about 120 cubes per day, but it can take up to 24 hours for the freezer to cool fully. I would suggest running a test on such a new unit prior to requesting service. To do so, simply empty the ice cube bin and wait 24 hours, then count the cubes.

If there are still fewer than 50 cubes, then I would recommend contacting service by either submitting an online service request (click here: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/o... ) or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can assist you.

If the freezer is producing 50 to 90 cubes per day, try setting the freezer to a lower temperature. The freezer should be set below 5°F for the icemaker to work properly, and the recommended setting is -2°F. Next, make sure your water valve on the refrigerator water supply line is completely open. If you have a water filter installed, try changing the filter.

Thank you for the question.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. The door alarm should sound only if the door is ajar, and the temperature should not go down unless the temperature setting was changed. Since the RB215LASH comes with a factory-installed icemaker, it sounds as though you've had some work done to the unit. I would suggest contacting Samsung to discuss your service options by calling 800-SAMSUNG.

The RB215LASH does not have an internal water filter for the icemaker. Instructions for installing an external water filtration system can be found on pages 17-18 of the User Manual, which can be downloaded from this link: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/d...

Please note that the Samsung part number (DA29-00015A) mentioned on page 18 has been discontinued. Your local retailer should be able to help you choose a filtration system that best meets your needs.

Question

Refrigerator freezes contents and tempo indictors in door are incorrect

I have an RB215LASH and both the refrigerator and freezer temperature readouts are off from the true internal tempuratures. The firdge temp is 20 but the door says 40. This is causing the refrigerator contents to freeze. The freezer is 20 and the door says 8 so the compressor never stops. Would this be a temp sensor issue or a main board issue?

If the icemaker in your RB215LASH is not producing ice, please check the following:
- Is the icemaker turned on (make sure the Ice Off icon is not illuminated on the control panel)?
- Is the feeler arm that hangs down from the icemaker stuck in the "Up" position? If so, try lowering it.
- Is your water pressure at the recommended level? In order for the icemaker to operate properly, water pressure of 20~125 psi (pound per square inch) is required.
- Is the water valve turned on all the way?
- Are there any bends or kinks in the water line that could be obstructing water flow?
- Press the Test button on the bottom of the icemaker? (See attached photo for location.)
- Is the refrigerator set at the recommended 38°F? If the refrigerator is too cold, the water lines could freeze.
- Is the freezer temperature cold enough? Samsung recommends setting the freezer at -2°F.
- If the tray fills with water, you can activate the Power Freeze function to speed up ice production.

If, after checking the above and pressing the Test button, the tray still won't fill, or it fills, freezes, but will not harvest, your RB215LASH will probably require service. To initiate service through Samsung, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

If you're having trouble with the icemaker on your RB215LASH, please make sure the water line is connected properly and turned on and the line is not bent or kinked. Make sure the icemaker is turned on; if the Ice Off light is illuminated, press the Ice Off button again so it is no longer illuminated. Press the Test button on the bottom of the icemaker; it may be necessary to press it more than once to bleed air from the line especially if it was just recently connected. Check the refrigerator temperature; Samsung recommends setting it at 38°F. If the refrigerator is too cold the water line could freeze.

If you've tried each of these troubleshooting tips and your icemaker still won't fill with water it will require service. Samsung recommends having a qualified technician perform the service for you, call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who can help locate an authorized service center near you.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue with your RB215LASH. If frost is accumulating rapidly, it is possible the freezer door is not closing or sealing tightly enough. Try inserting a dollar bill in different locations around the door, then try pulling it out when the door is closed. If it pulls out easily then the gasket may be damaged and might benefit from being replaced. Please also make sure the refrigerator is properly leveled, especially side to side, since this can also effect the ability of the door to close properly. Finally, check the vents at the back of the freezer to make sure they aren't blocked.

If these suggestions do not help to resolve the issue, please call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you further.

Question

How come my Samsung RB215LASH-XAA Fridge is gathering water under the vegetable trays and then freezing?

I've read other responses and it looks like the response is typically that condensation could be gathering, but it seems like a lot of water to be simply a condensation issue. Also, our temperatures for both the fridge and the freezer occasionally change temps without us changing the setting. Could the two problems be related & what do we need to do to fix the issue. The primary concern is the freezing water under the vegetable bins in the fridge.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue with your RB215LASH fridge. You're correct that condensation is sometimes the cause of water gathering under the vegetable drawers, though if it is a significant amount that accumulates rapidly it is probably a leak that will require service to repair.

If the water is freezing on the bottom of the fridge compartment, it's possible that your refrigerator temperature is set either too high or too low. Try adjusting the temperature to 38°F, if it is currently set differently. Next, wipe up the water and wait 24 hours. If water has accumulated there again by the next day, your refrigerator will require service. If the ice cubes are breaking as they're harvested, try raising the temperature setting in the freezer of your RB215LASH. Samsung recommends setting the freezer temperature to -2ºF or colder, though a maximum setting of 0ºF should still enable ice and ice cream to freeze properly.

There are different factors that can cause the gasket to stop sealing properly. Please check to make sure the RB215 is properly leveled from left to right, adjusting the front leveling legs as needed to make it level. If the door still isn't sealing in some areas, the gasket may be dried out, cracked, or otherwise damaged and need to be replaced. Samsung recommends having the gasket replaced by a qualified technician to ensure it is done properly.
