Question

I want to thoroughly clean between the glass shelf and plastic surround on all my shelves.

I do not want to soak it and believe it is clean I would like to see the groves the glass rests in to make sure I have cleaned it thoroughly. I'm very curious how the design of this allows for easy removal of the glass.

Thank you for the question. The plastic frame is not designed to be separated from the shelves in the RB195. Soaking the shelves is the recommended method for cleaning them.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. The water that is accumulating may be the result of condensation or it could be an indication of a leak that would require service to repair. I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue. If water is gathering in the drawers and freezing, it's possible that your refrigerator temperature is set either too high or too low. Please adjust the temperature to 38°F, if necessary. While it is not unusual for a small amount of water to accumulate as a result of condensation, if it is more than a small amount it could be an indication of a leak that would require service to repair. Try wiping up the water and waiting 24 hours. If water has accumulated there again by the next day, your refrigerator will likely require service. Please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Thanks for the question. There are several factors that can effect the ability of the icemaker to produce ice, in particular the availability of water to fill the tray, and the temperature of the freezer once the tray is filled with water. First, make sure the Ice Off button on the control panel has not been pressed. Next, try pressing the Test button on the bottom of the icemaker, which should cause the tray to rotate then fill with water. For the water to freeze, the freezer temperature should be set to -2°F or colder. You can also press the Super Freeze button on the control panel to help speed the freezing process.

If the tray did not fill with water, check the water supply valve to make sure it is on all the way, and make sure the line is not bent or kinked. If you have an external filtration system installed, make sure the filter is not clogged. Samsung recommends setting the refrigerator temperature to 38°F; if set too cold the water line could freeze. It may be necessary to press the Test button more than once when the water line is first installed to bleed air from the line.

If the icemaker still won't fill with water or rotate to dump the ice, it may require service. Please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

Thanks for the questions. The styrofoam behind the back panel of the refrigerator is supposed to be there. It is also normal for there to be some moisture and condensation inside the refrigerator due to the Twin Cooling system. If water is collecting in or under the drawers of your RB195ABBP, it may be an indication of a leak that will require service to repair. Please try wiping up the water, then wait 24 hours. If water has accumulated again, please submit an online service request through the link below, or call 800-SAMSUNG to speak with an agent who will be happy to assist you.

To maximize ice production, make sure the freezer temperature is cold enough; the recommended temperature is between -2°F and -4°F, but can be set even colder. You can also use the Power Freeze option on the control panel, and minimize the amount of time the drawer is open. Make sure the supplied water pressure is 20~125 psi, and try resetting the icemaker by pressing the test button on the bottom of the icemaker.

Thank you for the question. Samsung no longer makes an external water filter for the RB195ABBP refrigerator, but there are other external filters available which can be used with this refrigerator. I would suggest you consult with your appliance retailer or local hardware store or home improvement store for advice on which external filter best suits your needs.

Question

How do I get the freezer door to seal properly?

The freezer door (bottom freezer, swing-out door) is not sealing properly. There is a gap on the top of the door where the door seals against the cabinet. Warm air is coming in and frost is forming. I can easily slip a piece of paper through the gap.

How do I fix this gap? The refrigerator is brand new and the gasket is not dried out and it is not dirty.

This unit has had the doors reversed, but the process went smoothly.

I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue with your RB195ABBP. I would suggest you check the leveling of the refrigerator, since this is one possibility for the door not sealing properly. Using a carpenter's level, check both front to back and side to side leveling making the necessary adjustments to the front leveling legs using a flathead screwdriver inserted between the plastic ridges to turn the legs. If this does not resolve the issue, then your refrigerator will likely require service to determine and correct the cause of the problem.

Question

I am considering the purchase of RB195ABBP refrigerator/freezer for a pharmacy to store refrigerated and frozen medications.

The refrigerator must be kept between 35 and 46 degrees F. The freezer must be maintained at 5 degrees F or below. How reliably would this unit perform in maintaining this temperature range? A time sensitive decision must be made, your prompt response would be appreciated.

While Samsung refrigerators have an excellent reputation for reliability and performance, the RB195ABBP is a consumer product and I can't speak to its performance in a commercial environment. The refrigerator temperature can be set in 2ºF intervals between 34ºF and 46ºF; the freezer temperature can be set between -14ºF and 8ºF, also in 2ºF intervals.

The RB195ABBP, like most Samsung refrigerators, uses a magnetic sensor system to turn the lights on and off in the refrigerator. The sensors are located in the upper corners of the refrigerator doors as part of the hinge assembly.

The RB195ABWP (the same model in white) is in the process of transitioning to the upgraded RB195ACWP which will feature LED lighting in both the refrigerator and freezer. Please contact your local retailer for the most up to date information on availability, or use the "Where to Buy" tool on this website to find a retailer. If at first the search does not return the desired results, please check back periodically as distribution information is updated frequently.

Question

How much ice should the ice maker be making?

My husband is convinced it isn't making enough ice. Any idea of how much ice it should be making in the course of a 24 hour day? Thanks!

Samsung refrigerator freezers should produce at least 120 cubes per day, which is in line with most manufacturer specifications. If your freezer is producing less than 120 cubes per day, try the following:
- Set the freezer temperature display to a lower setting. The freezer temperature must be 5º F (-15º C) or lower for the ice maker to work properly.
- Make sure that the water valve on the refrigerator water supply line is completely open. You can find the water valve where the refrigerator water supply line taps into your house water line.
- If you have an external water filter connected to your refrigerator, change the filter cartridge.

If you want your freezer to produce more than 120 ice cubes in a day, try the following:
- An ice maker typically makes 1 tray of ice every 90 minutes. To shorten the amount of time the freezer takes to produce a tray of ice, press the Power Freeze button to speed up the ice making process. In the Power Freeze mode, both the compressor and the freezer fan run for 10 hours continuously. The ice making interval is reduced from 90 minutes to 55 minutes. If the ice bucket fills in less than 10 hours, Power Freeze stops automatically.
NOTE: If you have just installed your refrigerator, it could take up to 24 hours for the refrigerator to produce ice. You should throw away the first three batches of ice cubes that the ice maker produces (approximately 30 cubes) to flush the "plastic" taste from the water line.

To control the freezer temperature on the RB195ABBP, press the Freezer button on the control panel until the displays shows the desired temperature. The freezer temperature can be set in 2ºF intervals between -14ºF and 8ºF. Please refer to page 19 of the User Manual, which can be downloaded as a pdf file from this website, for additional information.
