Question

How do you remove the "unavailable" notification when using external speakers.?

I am using a sound bar and programmed the tv remote to control its volume and mute buttons. I turned off the TV speakers by choosing external speakers. However when I press the volume button a message stating "unavailable" shows up. The volume works. When this happens while watching Netflix the screen goes blank.

The "Not Available" message that appears on your TV screen is indicative of the fact that you're attempting to submit a remote command to the TV that it doesn't allow. Question

EX-LINK control codes?

I've found online that the EX-LINK port on the back of this television can be used to control the TV. I've made the special cable, connected it to my computer's USB serial adapter, and am able to control the TV from software by sending 7-byte control codes.

Here's my question: is there a comprehensive list of codes available for this particular model? The lists I've found are for older models. Some codes don't do quite what they say on my model, and I suspect there are a lot of controls for my model which aren't listed at all.

If someone has this list, it'd save me a lot of trial and error. Thanks!

Question

Adobe Flashplayer cannot be downloaded.

Streaming audio and video files from Youtube, etc. cannot be played on the Samsung Browser due to outdated Adobe Flash Player. Attempts to download latest version of Adobe Flashplayer fails.

Samsung, you need to fix this with a firmware update as soon as possible. Its not a "Smart TV" if it cannot support simple flash player applications.

Why was this limitation not disclosed in the product literature? A lot of unhappy customers regarding this.

Please fix it NOW!!!!

Question

keyboard support standard on apps with search function

I was wondering why the apps for youtube and others do not support keyboard use. It seems a bit archaic to scroll through letter choices with arrow keys on an app that should assist you in browsing and finding content rather than be LESS easy to use than the regular browser lol. Plus the fact that the directional keys on the remote are right next to the return and exit buttons makes it way too easy to click the wrong thing anyway. I mean, better than the directional key but an incredibly more useful intuitive design would have prompted the use of the number pad as a basic telephone/cell phone number/keypad with the classic 2 abc 3 def 4 ghi etc so you could type it in. Please let me know who I can encourage to update some apps with some sweet functionality to aid in my efforts to conquer the internet and the apps on my beautiful new samsung tv.

Question

My new plasma television turns on but no picture

I have been having a problem with my new PN60E550D television in that often it will power on with sound, but no picture. I have tried unplugging it for a while so it will 'recycle' but sometimes this works and sometimes it does not. Usually if I unplug it overnight, that usually works for a while to get the tv to boot up with picture, howevver the problem does return eventually.
Is there anything I can do further to resolve this problem?

Question

60" Plasma TV 550

I purchased this tv about 6 months ago. It is showing a black screen when turned on. I have a directv receiver as one of the inputs, along with the dvd player that came with it. Now when you turn on the tv, instead of finding the device that is on - I get just a blank screen. I have to turn the tv on and off, sometimes 10 to 15 times before it finally sees the device. It's getting worse and worse.

The manual says to hit menu and no matter what I should see the menu, but I do not. I hit menu on the tv remote and it does nothing. When it finally sees a device, then I hit menu, then the menu showsl.

Descriptive Video Service can't be turned off while watching HDTV

While watching HDTV channels where DVS is available, I can't seem to deactiviate DVS mode. This is not an issue when watching standard definition TV, however.

will Netflix & other apps support keyboard input

Seems silly but the keyboard i have works great with the browser but i cant use it to search with amazon or netflix... wt deuce? Not even a phone style number pad.. granted it does smart searching and attempts to guess what i want but why would i want to scroll around with the awkwardly designed arrow keys with select/ok right in the middle?

HDMI ARC acting weird with receiver

I just bought a 2012 Yahama HTR-4065 receiver to hook up to my 2012 Samsung Plasma SmartTV. There's something going on with the HDMI/ARC that I can't figure out. If I'm in the TV's SmartHub, load an app such as Pandora, and then exit back to SmartHub, the TV somehow changes the active input on the receiver to HDMI1 from TV (AV4). Thus, the ARC stops working and I hear no sound from the TV until I manually set the receiver back to AV4. I've fiddled with different settings on both devices, but can't figure out how to prevent this. Has anyone had this problem? Any thoughts? Thanks, Stephen

There is technology that helps dim reflections from ambient light on all of our panels - Plasma, LED or LCD. However, none of them will completely mute ambient light if the room contains an ample amount of bright lights.

However, if you have bright lights - or the sun sets behind you while you watch TV through a large picture window, literally ANY television set would have difficulty getting rid of reflection.

In most cases, people aren't bothered by the reflection. If you find that you are, you can always either adjust the lighting in the room to suit your tastes.
