You will want to connect the game system's RCA composite or component RGB cables to the TV's component/composite combination input using the supplied adapters (the audio red and white cables will go into the appropriately colored inputs; however, the yellow video cable will go into the green video input for a composite connection). Starting on Page 9 of the user's manual, you should be able to find more instruction on how to make these connections on your TV. If you still need further assistance, please contact Samsung Service at 800-SAMSUNG.

Question

Will Smart apps burn a spot in my tv?

Burning spots in a tv use to be a problem w/ certain still/motion pics. Is this still a problem to be concerned about and especially with all the available apps? A number of apps (A3Art, Mood Light, Skyview, Fine Art) display still or some motion pics (ie fireplace, art, scenes) to display on the tv for general veiwing. Will leaving any of these types of apps open and displaying on the tv for a length of time cause a spot to be burned in the tv? If so, what would be the length of time required to cause damage to the tv?

Although technically, plasma burn-in is a rare occurrence, I would still suggest you follow some simple steps to ensure the long life of your unit. Make sure that your anti-burn-in features, such as the pixelshift and scrolling functions, are active and working properly. Also make sure that you do not leave a static image on the screen for too long. Unfortunately, the period of time is not disclosed. Additionally, App content should be safe to be displayed on the Plasma TVs.

All Samsung Plasma TVs offer a technology called 600Hz subfield motion. Basically for the 600Hz sub-field motion, the television shows you the image at the same refresh rate (60Hz) but flashes the individual pixels faster so the images appear smoother then on a regular 60Hz panel. In this case it flashes the pixels 10 times faster then normal. So 60 fps x 10 sub-field = 600 flashes of the pixels per second. This makes the images seem much smoother on the screen but it does not increase the actual frames per second. It is not exactly the same as the Hz on the LCD/LED Samsung TVs (which ultimately raise the frame rates of the images, giving you a "Hyper-Real" image) and can not be toggled on or off since it is always on. The reason you are seeing the 60Hz in the info box is because the info box only displays the signal’s actual Hz and screen resolution and not the info of the picture on the screen after the TV processes it. Meaning that the 60Hz you are seeing is the signals actual Hz and not the screen’s Hz. Currently there is no way to display the screen’s Hz in the info box. Coincidentally, the Samsung TVs can only accept a 60Hz signal and there are currently no consumer devices on the market that will transmit at over 60Hz (excluding some PCs).

Question

Directv 3d

Just signed up with directv again and had it installed yesterday. Got the hr-24-500 box. My tv will not auto detect it. It does on any other 3d content. I don't know if it's due to the way directv uses the side by side 3d and vudu, ps store, and bluray3d do not. It is aggravating to manually switch to 3d every time I change the channel. Any suggestions? I tried hooking the directv box right to my tv and that did not help. My avr is 3d compatible. Tv is 2011 6500 series plasma 59"

Thank you for contacting Samsung. This sounds like it may be a limitation of the Direct TV STB. Try it on another TV yet to see if that makes any difference. If it doesn't, then contact the manufacturer or Direct TV for support. Thank you for being a Samsung customer!
