I can confirm that the SSG-2200AB, at least, glasses work with the PN500C680G5F. It had it when I bought the tv as a bundle. I'm certain that the rechargeable one the ,SSG-2200AR, works as well. I will let you know in about two weeks when I get it.

Question
How to switch to 1080p from 720p?
We just bought the TV. It is displaying the picture at 720p/60Hz...how do I move up to the higher resolution? It is connected to a DISH Network HD receiver via HDMI cable in HDMI1 port.
Thanks!

This TV is a fully capable 1080p set and it will always upscale your lower resolution content to 1080p, regardless of any settings you may have active. The reason you are seeing the 1080i in the info box is because the info box only displays the signal’s actual Hz and screen resolution and not the info of the picture on the screen after the TV processes it. Meaning that the 1080i you are seeing is the signals actual resolution and not the screen’s resolution. Currently there is no way to display the screen’s Hz or resolution in the info box.
I don't have the DISH Network service, but the value you are seeing in the HDMI1 port is the signal coming in from your receiver...meaning your DISH receiver is sending a 720p/60hz signal to the TV. I have Uverse cable and it has an options menu that allows the user to change the resolution output. So you might want to look at your menu options on your DISH receiver. On my set top box, I can only change up to 1080i. That may be the same for you. dave

For Plasma 600hz, the pixels are all moving at 60hz,what makes this faster is that each pixel is moving at 60hz, so in reality you are at 60 hz. on an lcd a 60hz is the whole screen as a whole. so one screen moving at 60hz, versus each pixel moving individually at 60hz is faster. so in reality you are already running at 600hz.
All Samsung Plasma TVs offer a technology called 600Hz subfield motion. Basically for the 600Hz sub-field motion, the television shows you the image at the same refresh rate (60Hz) but flashes the individual pixels faster so the images appear smoother then on a regular 60Hz panel. In this case it flashes the pixels 10 times faster then normal. So 60 fps x 10 sub-field = 600 flashes of the pixels per second. This makes the images seem much smoother on the screen but it does not increase the actual frames per second. It is not exactly the same as the Hz on the LCD/LED Samsung TVs (which ultimately raise the frame rates of the images, giving you a "Hyper-Real" image) and can not be toggled on or off since it is always on. The reason you are seeing the 60Hz in the info box is because the info box only displays the signal’s actual Hz and screen resolution and not the info of the picture on the screen after the TV processes it. Meaning that the 60Hz you are seeing is the signals actual Hz and not the screen’s Hz. Currently there is no way to display the screen’s Hz in the info box. Coincidentally, the Samsung TVs can only accept a 60Hz signal and there are currently no consumer devices on the market that will transmit at over 60Hz (excluding some PCs).
I have been a consistent purchaser of samsung products for many years.I have finally decided that I am going to purchase a 50'' Plasma and upon doing my research I have run into a wall. I have read all Reviews on cnet and hdmag and anything else I could find and I have been unable to find one thing that dets the two apart and I am hoping someone cab provide a little more information. The two plasmas are: Samsung - 50" Class / 1080p / 600Hz / 3D Plasma HDTV Model: PN50C680G5F Panasonic - VIERA / 50" Class / 1080p / 600Hz / Plasma HDTV Model: TC-P50G20 Thank you and look forward to hearing from you soon
Although this model does not have direct access to Samsung Apps or any other internet content, it can access internet content through a 2010 Samsung BD player (the blu-ray player will handle the Internet content processing).

Although I would not know if it is contributing to your ghosting; for proper and full resolution 3D playback, HDMI 1.4 is required. HDMI 1.3 just does not offer the bandwidth necessary for full 3D transmission.
your web site stated if i register my tv i would receive an extended warranty, but i can find no information about the warranty now that i have registered

Unfortunately, since all of the TV's systems are designed to work exclusively with North American devices, a PAL HDMI device may not work properly with the TV.
When watching the two 3D movies supplied with the 3d starter kit (How to Train your Dragon and Triple Feature) the screen becomes blurred as if the 3D glasses stopped working. This happen for 1 to 3 seconds usually at the beginning of a new scene in the movie. Otherwise the picture is perfect and has a terrific 3D effect. Some of the worst spots can be rewound and played back with the blurring in the exact same spot every time; other times the blurring cannot be rewound and reviewed. I'm on my second Blue Ray 3D player, upgraded to the best and using the recommended HDMI cable, routed HDMI cable away from all other cord, set up the screen size appropriately, viewed movie from the correct distance, all updates are current (both TV and Blue Ray player). At this point it would have to be a problem with the emitter, the glasses (two viewers had same problem at the same times, so unlikely), the editing of the movie or the processor speed can't keep up. I already talked with tech support and need more help.
Will there be a firmware update in the future to enable support.??

Although this model does not have direct access to Samsung Apps (like Netflix, Pandora or YouTube), it can access App content through a 2010 Samsung BD player (the blu-ray player will handle the Internet content processing. Hulu+ is only available on the 2010 3D Blu-Ray Players at this time). Unfortunately, there is currently no information on upgrades to Samsung Apps for the 2009 and earlier TVs and the current generation non-Internet@TV TVs.
Why do I see so much ghosting on native 3D movies?
I have an HDMI 1.4 cord running from my 3D samsung blueray player to my 3D samsung tv. I am trying to watch movies such as the last airbender in 3D and the legends of the guardians in 3D. I was told that plasma samsungs are the best 3D out there, but I am now doubting that very much. There is so much ghosting in the background its rediculous.
Can I watch a PAL movie on this TV. I have a DVD player that can play both NTSC and PAL DVDs

All UN, PN and LN units (North American Units) will only have support for NTSC/ATSC/QAM broadcasting systems and NA power systems. Since the NA TVs will not accept a PAL signal or Non-NA voltages, you will not only need a converter for the broadcast, but also for the power if you would like to use the TV in a PAL country.
What 3D glasses models are compatible with this model TV?
What 3D glasses are compatible with the PN50C680G5F TV? The user manual says SSG-2100AB and SSG-2200AR are compatible with PN50C680G5F but when I go to purchase the product and check compatibility, the website says the glasses are not compatible with this TV.
I have a PN50680G5F (2010) and cannot purchase these glasses, is their a firmware upgrade to allow use of the SSG-3100 glasses? I just purchased the TV one month ago from Bestbuy.
My screen seems to flash excessively on my 680 TV when in 3D mode. I also notice there is a thin white line at the bottom of the screen in 3D too.
My screen seems to flash excessively on my 680 model TV when in 3d mode. I also noticed there is a thin white line at the bottom of the screen in 3D too, like the picture doesnt quite fill up the entire screen. This seems to make the flashing effect even more prominent. I don't think this is normal stuff for 3D but no store has this TV model on display for me to compare my TVs characteristics to. The TV setting automatically adjust when 3D blue ray movie is played. Based on the 3D quality so far I much prefer 2D. Is there any way to tell if my TV is acting "normal"? Is there any way to adjust the 3D quality or settings? The glasses were expensive, I hate to be frustrated with 3D quality and have them go to waste.
