Questions & Answers for samsung 50" Class 450 Series 720p Plasma HDTV

Question

My t.v. has a thick vertical line from top to bottom of the screen.

I just bought this television less than a year ago and now there is a 4" line down the right side of the screen. I refuse to pay for repairs when this is less than a year old. I am looking for a replacement for this television.

In order to change the aspect ratio (screen size), you will want to head into the TV's menu, then to the picture sub-menu. Once there, head into the "Picture Options" option. Within that option, you will see the "Size" adjustment. Clicking into that will allow you to change the picture size of the screen.

If your TV’s options are being reset, it may be that your unit is actually in Store Demo Mode. To exit Demo Mode, please follow the instructions at the link below:

AS stated on page 4 of the manual:
Ferrite Core for Power Cord: The ferrite cores are used to shield the cables from interference.
When connecting a cable, open the ferrite core and clip it around the cable near the plug as
shown in the figure.

You will want to connect the game system's RCA composite or component RGB cables to the TV's component/composite combination input (the audio red and white cables will go into the appropriately colored inputs; however, the yellow video cable will go into the green video input for a composite connection). Starting on Page 9 of the user's manual, you should be able to find more instruction on how to make these connections on your TV.

Although this model does not have direct access to Samsung Apps (like Netflix, Pandora or YouTube), it can access App content through a 2010-11 Samsung BD player (the blu-ray player will handle the Internet content processing). Unfortunately, I currently do not have any information on Samsung Apps or Smart TV being added to the 2010 and earlier models that do not offer said features.

You should be able to pick up "some" digital signals with basic cable. Just hook it up and do a "channel scan" and the TV should find all the available stations available. If you are a Comcast user you may need one of their little digital converter boxes.

you need to get the firmware .BIN file from this site. then place it on a thumbdrive/USB and get to menu. Once the thumb drive is inserted, go to menu, scroll down to support, then choose software upgrade. the TV will search for the thumb drive and file and do it automatically.

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/PN50C450B1DXZA
is where ya get the USB file. ( it's archived so un archive it on your computer and place the . BIN file on the thumb drive)

In order to access Captioning, you will want to head into the TV's menu, then into the setup or system sub-menu to access the CC options or to just activate it, press the CC button on the remote control. However, CC is only available via the coax cable since the CC signal has to be sent by your service provider. The CC information cannot be sent via HDMI or other secondary connections from 3rd party devices. That said, most service provider set top boxes and DVD/BD players will handle CC on board, which will then be displayed on the TV as part of the video signal. Captions are subject to your service provider’s availability.

This unit does actually have a 1-tuner PiP system. PiP 1-tuner systems only allow for one cable connection to be shown at a time on the screen. In order to connect it up, you will need a hard line going into the TV (cable coax) and an active secondary connection (HDMI, component, PC). To activate it up, either head into the TV's menu or click the Tools button on the remote control.

Again, you will need both a coax connection and a secondary input connection in order to properly activate and view PiP on your set. If your option is grayed out, this means that one of the required connections is not active and connected properly.
