In order to access Captioning, you will want to head into the TV's menu, then into the setup or system sub-menu to access the CC options or to just activate it, press the CC button on the remote control. However, CC is only available via the coax cable since the CC signal has to be sent by your service provider. The CC information cannot be sent via HDMI or other secondary connections from 3rd party devices. That said, most service provider set top boxes and DVD/BD players will handle CC on board, which will then be displayed on the TV as part of the video signal. Captions are subject to your service provider’s availability.

Question

Firmware Update Failed and now i can not power-up my tv (turn it on)

I had red spots and went to the web site for a firm ware update. I downloaded the firmware. The TV said the Website Firmware was the same version as on the TV. It did not complete the download. (TV as 1006 and website is suppose to have 1008.2 version software.)

I turned the TV off and now I can not get it to power on with the controller or by pushing the button on the TV. TV has power.

Question

How many watts does my PN50C450B1DXZA CONSUME

How many watts does my PN50C450B1DXZA CONSUME?
I cannot get to the back of my TV to see.
And a comment, the manuals pictures of the rear and side jacks are too small, all panels should be at least life size picture or larger, with wording clearly seen, in the book on their own pages as well as a picture of the "power label". I have been delayed in my calculations of electrical cost consumption. First level support did not have this most common info at all! Such as 110-120 VAC/ 1500watts or whatever the device consumes.

Although the wattage and amperage numbers are not readily available (since daily usage varies from owner to owner depending on settings and content), I can say that most all current generation Samsung TVs are EnergyStar compliant. This ensures the best possible performance with minimal power usage.

Additionally, since the TV is a US model, it should only have compatibility with US voltages.

Although this model does not have direct access to Samsung Apps (like Netflix, Pandora or YouTube), it can access App content through a 2010 Samsung BD player (the blu-ray player will handle the Internet content processing. Hulu+ is only available on the 2010 3D Blu-Ray Players at this time). Unfortunately, there is currently no information on upgrades to Samsung Apps for the 2009 and earlier TVs and the current generation non-Internet@TV TVs.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

There are mainline power differences between the USA and the rest of the world. There are also different formatting requirements for these different countries. This formatting may be incompatible with the TV. Before you decide to take the TV out of the country, please make these considerations:

1. The USA is on a 110v 60hz power standard, where-as most other countries use a 240v 50hz standard. A converter would be needed to power the TV in a country using the 240v system.

2. The USA uses the NTSC and ATSC broadcasting format. Most, but not all, countries use the PAL. TVs purchased in the USA are not compatible with the PAL broadcasting system without a converter.

3. The US standard frame rate is 30 frames per second (FPS), whereas the PAL standard is 25 FPS.

4. If the TV is removed from the USA, it will need to be shipped back into the country to have any service under Samsung's warranty, as it only applies when the TV is in the USA.

Thank you for being a Samsung customer!

For specific instructions on how to connect a composite device (yellow, red and white plugs) to the TV, please refer to page 9 of the user's manual.

Although the color of the AV IN [Y/VIDEO] jack (Green) will not match the color of the video cable (Yellow); the unit actually does accept a composite connection. To connect it properly, just connect the video (Yellow) cable to the green COMPONENT IN [Y/VIDEO] jack and the audio cables(Red/White) to the COMPONENT IN [R-AUDIO-L] jacks. For additional information, please refer to the device’s manual.

Question

Why doesn't my surround sound work with the tv?

I have a surround sound system, with a Denon receiver, and it's correctly hooked up to the tv, but when I choose external source for the speakers, nothing happens, no sound comes out of the speakers.

Question

Cyan areas on screen after updating firmware to version 1008.2.

There is what appears to be cyan colored burn-in on my screen since I updated to the newest firmware. Some areas correspond with the black bars on a 4:3 picture (which are unavoidable even on HD channels), but some areas seem more random. The TV's only four months old, and I didn't have any noticeable burn-in before the update.
