How do I get rid of red static on my plazma screen?

I get a red and sometimes green static on my screen. If I turn the tv off for about 20 minutes and turn it back on the red goes away but will come back a few minutes later. Is there anything that i can do? I cant afford for a service tech to come out to my house to look at it. Thank you for your time!

How do I test the HDMI ports on the TV?

The cable installer could not get the HDMI ports to function so he connected the cable box using the multicable component 2. I want to see if the HDMI ports are working so that I can attach components with the HDMI cable. With the component cables connected, I can't get a signal through the HDMI ports. How can I test the HDMI ports?

Start by heading to the TVs menu, then scroll down until you see the "Channel" sub-menu and click enter. Once there, adjust the Antenna setting: "Cable if you are using a cable connection and "Air" if you are using an antenna. Then scroll down to Auto Program and press enter. On the next screen, you will be given the option to run the auto program in either air, cable or auto formats. So if you have an antenna, press Air, if you have cable, press Cable or if you want the TV to figure it out, just press Auto.

All of this info can be found on page 20 of your user's manual.

There are two different kind of active burn in protection features on the Samsung Plasma TVs. The first one is PixelShift (PixelShift can be adjusted on or off and allows for intensity level adjustments). This feature will basically move all your pixels, uniformly, a predetermined amount of pixel spaces in order to prevent a pixel from being lit in a specific pixel space for too long. However, if ghosting does occur, you can use the other anti-burn in feature, called Scrolling, to help refresh the screen. The Scrolling feature will "scroll" a gradient of black and white across the screen to help eliminate the ghosting, if any, that has accumulated on your panel. Both of these features can be found in the Picture Options section of the TV's menu.

How do I turn off the source?

When we are watching TV, the source (component 1 [Cable] and component 2 [DVD]) keep popping up on the top left hand corner of the screen for no apparent reason. Is there a way that this can be stopped??

the Infobox with the sources information should only pop up when switching between sources or when the signal from the source changes. Please ensure that the signal from your source is a consistent signal, and that all of the cables are properly seated into the ports on the TV. Unfortunately, there is no way to deactivate the infobox and prevent it from popping up. If you have any further assistance, please contact 800-Samsung.

Question

Sound

I currently have a Samsung surround sound system with a dvd hooked up to the television. Recently one of the components I have connected to one of the HDMI ports has quit producing sound through the surround system. I am reasonably certain that the component in question is in working correctly as I can still produce sound through the television speakers. I am still able to produce surround sound when playing a dvd as well. Is there a component in the television that could be bad . I have tried disconnecting all components from the power source as well with no result.

Also, please clarify how you're connecting the devices. It sounds like you're connecting them both via HDMI to the TV. Further, can you specify when the surround sound is failing? It sounds like it's failing with over the air TV. Thank you for being a Samsung customer!

HDMI port

I am getting a weak signal msg on my tv, the HDMI port on my tv is not getting signal from the box, I changed the cable and the box but still get the same msg.

I googled this and the feed back on the multiple website that this tend to happen on samsung plasma TV's.

Is this covered by samasung?
