Unfortunately, the C430 does not play video files from a USB drive or through DLNA. That said, a firmware update in not available since the unit does not offer the necessary hardware.

There are three ways to connect your PC to your PN42C430: monitor cable, HDMI to HDMI or HDMI to DVI.

Although all of these connections are easy to hook up, the PC monitor cable is the most common. To connect it this way, just use a standard PC monitor cable to connect from the monitor out of your PC to the PC input on the TV. Some adjustments to the PC's resolution is required.

If your PC offer HDMI out, I would highly suggest using this connection, since it is a basic plug-n-play connection (meaning almost no adjustment is needed on the TV or PC).

HDMI to DVI is almost the same as straight HDMI, but in this case, you will want to connect the DVI end of the cable to the PC (if available) and the HDMI into the TV. This is also considered a plug-n-play connection.

Unless otherwise specified by your PC manufacturer, you will need to connect the PC's audio to the TV with a separate cable (3.5mm jack cable), since most PCs do not support audio over HDMI, VGA or DVI.

You will also need to change the resolution on your PC to match that of your TV, which is: 1024 X 768 @ 60Hz.

Although I cannot provide a detailed explanation, I can say that you will want to connect the DVD player's audio/video outputs to the TV's corresponding inputs (from the DVD player's component, composite or HDMI to the TV's component/composite combo input or HDMI input). You can also find this information starting on page 9 of the user's manual.

As a matter of fact, there is an audio input located next to the HDMI 1 port called "PC/DVI audio in" that will allow you to connect a 3.5mm jack cable between your PC's 3.5mm audio output to the TV's 3.5mm "PC/DVI audio in" input. Please refer to page 11 in the user's manual for more information.

In order to access Captioning, you will want to head into the TV's menu, then into the setup or system sub-menu to access the CC options or to just activate it, press the CC button on the remote control. However, CC is only available via the coax cable since the CC signal has to be sent by your service provider. The CC information cannot be sent via HDMI or other secondary connections from 3rd party devices. That said, most service provider set top boxes and DVD/BD players will handle CC on board, which will then be displayed on the TV as part of the video signal. Captions are subject to your service provider’s availability. Additionally, the CC option cannot be set to come on automatically when MUTE is activated.

This is correct. All Samsung Plasma TVs offer a technology called 600Hz subfield motion. Basically for the 600Hz sub-field motion, the television shows you the image at the same refresh rate (60Hz) but flashes the individual pixels faster so the images appear smoother then on a regular 60Hz panel. In this case it flashes the pixels 10 times faster then normal. So 60 fps x 10 sub-field = 600 flashes of the pixels per second. This makes the images seem much smoother on the screen but it does not increase the actual frames per second. It is not exactly the same as the Hz on the LCD/LED Samsung TVs (which ultimately raise the frame rates of the images, giving you a "Hyper-Real" image) and can not be toggled on or off since it is always on.

The reason you are seeing the 60Hz and 1080p in the info box is because the info box only displays the signal’s actual Hz and screen resolution and not the info of the picture on the screen after the TV processes it. Meaning that the 60Hz you are seeing is the signals actual Hz and not the screen’s Hz. Currently there is no way to display the screen’s Hz in the info box.

Although this model does not have direct access to Samsung Apps (like Netflix, Pandora or YouTube), it can access App content through a 2010 Samsung BD player (the blu-ray player will handle the Internet content processing. Hulu+ is only available on the 2010 3D Blu-Ray Players at this time). Unfortunately, there is currently no information on upgrades to Samsung Apps for the 2009 and earlier TVs and the current generation non-Internet@TV TVs.
