Hi I just bought a Samsung laptop (model: NP700Z5AH-NP700Z5A-S0AUS) with an Intel hd graphics 3000 and an AMD Radeon HD 6750M. The laptop is overall great but it has a very annoying problem.
When I watch full screen video (usually when the background is dark) the contrast/brightness of the screen fluctuates randomly. This happens in media player, kmplayer and even utube. The screen flickers only when the laptop is running on battery. If I plug it in the flickering stops immediately.
I have updated the display drivers and I have spent countless hours changing the settings but I cannot fix it and it is driving me nuts! I have read that this is a known issue for the intel hd graphics. They even have a driver that clearly states that it resolves this issue. However, I cannot install this driver because my laptop does not allow installation of non OEM drivers (and actually I don't want to use a non OEM driver because it may ruin something else#.
I have also read in several forums that the issue can be fixed if I disable the "Display Power Saving Technology" setting from the Intel graphics and media control panel -> power -> power source: on battery. However, my laptop does not have that setting at the Intel control panel!! #see pic)
Please provide some help. Thanks.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.
We're sorry to hear you're encountering this issue. The image you attached shows the Power Source settings when "Plugged In" and yet you said this issue occurs when you're using the laptop on battery power. Did you attempt to change the Power Source option to Battery (or whatever it may be) to see if the Power Conservation Features option appears? You might also check to see if the panel settings differ in any way when the computer is actually plugged in. Based on our research, this feature is mainly in place to improve battery life. If none of our suggested steps works to your satisfaction, given that this is an Intel feature and not a Samsung feature, you would need to consult Intel for further support.
If you have any additional questions, we suggest your refer to your product manual or the product support page on our website, where you'll find a comprehensive troubleshooting guide, product support videos, FAQs and How-Tos, as well as manuals, driver, software & firmware downloads.
Anyone else unable to change their screen brightness as of late with Easy Settings? My computer seems to constantly be stuck at full brightness (according to the settings) but when I unplug it, it will drop down to minimum brightness, but the computer still thinks it's at max. The only way to adjust it is to put the computer to sleep and wake it back up which isn't convenient.

You can change the brightness of your laptop's screen by using the keyboard short cuts. Specifically, by pushing the combination of Fn + F2, you can decrease the brightness, and by pressing Fn + F3, you can increase the brightness. I've attached an image that may help.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.
We're going to need you to better clarify what exactly you're trying to do, as we are unaware of GPS sensors on any of the Samsung laptops. In fact, we know of no GPS features offered on any Samsung laptops. Most customers just use a free online service like Google Maps, Bing Maps or Mapquest for turn-by-turn directions.
According to http://www.samsung.com/us/support/win8upgrade/ the NP700Z5A is supported for Windows 8 but when I download the Easy Software Manager from that page and install it then it says "The computer's model or operating system is not supported by Easy Software Manager. Please download and install directly from the Samsung website."
I'm running Windows 8 RTM.

That list is to indicate the models that will be supported once Windows 8 has been officially released the public and Samsung is actively selling laptops with the operating system pre-installed.
Additionally, we recommend you review this FAQ article:
I recently had to reinstall all the software to include the drivers on my computer. After reinstalling all the drivers on the Samsung support website, I am still having trouble with my bluetooth drivers. I tried to reinstall the most recent zip file with the bluetooth driver(s). After downloading the file I found multiple setup/install files but no instructions. After attempting to execute all the install/ setup files I only managed to crash my system and not correct the problems I'm having with my bluetooth drivers. Can you post some instructions for installing the bluetooth driver(s)? Do I only need to download the most recent bluetooth driver zip file? Thanks for your help.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.
All of our instructions and how-to guides related to Bluetooth have to do with the use of the technology itself (ex. pairing a Bluetooth device) rather than installing the drivers. We recommend you download and install the latest available driver for your operating system. We have downloaded the latest Windows 7 driver (2.3.0.0) for your device and once we extracted the contents to the Desktop, there is a file in the first folder labelled BTInstWin7.exe. This is the file you would select to start the installation process. If you have any additional installation troubles, we recommend you call 1-800-SAMSUNG to speak with a live representative in our laptop support group. They can walk you through the setup process.

Thank you for contacting Samsung. I'm very sorry for any inconvenience this may have given you. It seems that your device may need servicing. Please complete a service request here: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/request
I have always been using sony vaio laptop. Have no complain about it except 2 things: 1. the speaker and 2. the heat The heat is what I can't stand and therefore I decided to switch to Samsung series 7. I would like to know if this machine stays cool or getting hot if so how bad it is? I work on pc 12-15 hours a day, and with pregnancy it is so hard to deal with the heat. Thanks

I had the same issue when watching Youtube videos on Chrome. If I used Internet explorer, it works fine. The issue is the intel/amd drivers that are installed on your computer. Samsung did not release a good driver.
I got this fixed by installing the Intel drivers from Intel and the AMD drivers from AMD. Don't use the driver from Samsung that has both merged together.
Also, 720 and 1080p videos should be clearer/faster.
Hope that helps

You will need to open the mouse properties in windows to see the touchpad settings. Either search "Mouse" after hitting the windows button -or- Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Mouse (Below Devices and Printers)
Then click the tab that says "ELAN" (on my computer anyways) and select "Options"
This will let you change all sorts of settings for the touchpad... sensitivity is under the "Additional" tab. Hope this helps!

Question
Cannot connect to the server with Samsung Software Center?
I have reinstalled Windows 7, after deleting all HDD partitions (including the recovery partition). Everything's working great so far, except for the Samsung Software Center, which is required for installing the ExpressCache drivers which is a rather great feature I'd like to keep using. However, whenever I start Samsung Software Center, it displays an error "Unable to connect to the server. Check for network problems and try again.". I'm obviously connected to the internet, and everything's working fine apart from the Samsung Software Center.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

If you are still unable to resolve this issue please call samsung customer support and they will be happy to assist you.
I've noticed the laptop "runs hot." Specifically the CPU cores idle at 50-60 Celsius and can get up to the high 80s or low 90s C when I'm doing something intensive. Is this problematic - what are safe operating temperatures?

I don't know how to fix the issue but YES!!! It is problematic! I bought my laptop in April and from the Serial Number I gathered the hard drive was manufactured in March. My hard drive died in November and I am having to send it into get repaired/exchange the hard drive. I also noticed that the blue screen of death appeared after I could feel the laptop over heating

Where can i get VGA adapter cable for this laptop to connect to external monitor?
The automatic switching to discrete graphics does not work in many cases. Programs using OpenGL or older versions of DirectX are not detected. Even when I select High Performance for a program in the graphics manager window, it still does not switch to the Radeon graphics.

This is a drawback of the current system - the BIOS doesn't allow for manual switching to discrete graphics. There are many users who play games and / or use graphics packages like Adobe Photoshop who would like to make sure their programs have access to discrete graphics. They have requested a BIOS upgrade to make this possible.
