Yes. You can upgrade RAM of this machine to 8GB(4GB+$GB). 6GB (4GB+2GB) is the default configuration. Just remove one screw beside memory on the back and replace 2GB with 4GB.
Also i am not sure if warrenty of the machine will be void if you upgrade RAM.

The maximum RAM recognized by the BIOS is 8 GB. So if you have 6 GB installed, you can access the memory card from the bottom of the notebook, take out the existing 2 GB and put in the new 4 GB DDR3 memory.

answer 3
Yes, the RAM in the 7 Series notebooks can be upgraded up to 8GB. The unit comes with either 8GB or 6GB installed. If you have the unit with 6GB you can upgrade it to 8GB by removing the plate on the bottom and installing it from there.
Note: You only have access to one (1) of the RAM slots without physically opening the case- and opening the 7 series laptop can damage it even with professional tools.

This cpu is 2.2GHz with turbo-boost to 3.1GHz.

Most importantly, however, is that it is a 4-core, 8-thread processor, which means you have a relevant CPU for the near future (several years) in terms of laptop performance power.

There is a quick and easy fix for this problem which involves sticking a small square of rolled up paper or tape inside the hollow middle of the space bar key above the sensor pad. See my YouTube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRXr35mDyLM

I advice you not to install W7 ultimate. It needs more ressources than the home premium version, but the uprade of the software not really improves the features you can use. W7 ultimate needs 64-bits drivers. today developers work generally with 32bits drivers. I other words, you can upgrade but it will not improve the performance and many drivers are in 32bits.

Windows 7 Ultimate should upgrade fine so long as you remember to keep everything 64bit. The key is that you want to install as an upgrade rather than a clean version in order to ensure that the 8Gb of Nand Flash continues to function properly with your hard drive.

It's normal, it is because of the Wifi light up indicator. The same thing happens with the Caps Lock key, it will remain lit when the backlight is turned off to indicate if Caps Lock is on.

If you have WiFi or Bluetooth on, the F12 key will remain lit. I think the intention was that the blue dot on the key is suppose be lit, but sadly the whole key lights up. If you turn off WiFi and Bluetooth, the key will dim with the rest of the keyboard when backlit is turned off or turned down. This seems to be the case with any key that has the little blue dot on it (caps lock top corner, F6, F12 and Fn Lock). Hopefully Samsung can chime in if there is a fix or not.

The serial number is not on a sticker. It is printed directly on the case in a color that is nearly indistinguishable from the plastic on which it is printed. On my S03US it is to the right of the model number.

Question

vga adaptor

I purchased a VGA adaptor for my new laptop. The model number is AA-AH1NAMB/US. Serial number is HFEP91ZC600398. I cannot get the mini USB connector to connect to my laptop. Did I order the wrong adaptor or could there be a problem with the female connector on the laptop? I removed all the plastic wrap from the mini-USB connector.

I also have a secondary problem in that my new laptop does not have a manufacturer's lable on the bottom. I purchased it through the Microsoft Store and had to spend two hours on the phone with MS tech support to get various items installed, like WIFI adaptor and the correct display driver.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

We could not find a match for your serial number in our database. Have you registered the device at the following website? If not, we recommend you do so at your earliest convenience.

We also looked on the accessories page for your product and found a VGA-to-mini HDMI adapter available for purchase, but the model number does not match the one you provided.

Question

Screen brightness and power settings

When I remove power from the laptop the screen dims. If I put it to sleep, then plug it back in the screen will not return to full brightness. Using the function keys doesn't have any effect and the indicator shows the screen at max. In order to get full brightness I must reboot the machine.

I have verified that the drivers are current and Windows 7 is up to date.

Also, the screen will not enter power saving (shut off display) mode when plugged in. I have verified the power setting are set to turn off the display after 10 min.

This is becoming a major nuisance as I switch between battery and power often.

I thought maybe I traced this issue to skype, but removing skype didn't resolve the issue.

I have been through and configured all the screen settings. If I have the screen setting set to be 100% brightness when on AC, shouldn't pluging the laptop back in put the screen back to full brightness (without reboooting)?

Also, regardless of the settings, when the screen is dimmed, shouldn't I be able to manually increase the brightness with the Fn-F3 key.? Usually I cannot, the popup on screen display shows all the bars, full brightness when it is not.

Attached are my display settings.

The upgrade is an "in place" upgrade.

You will NOT need to install any drivers moving from one version of Windows using the Anytime Upgrade.

Office settings and all other personal settings & software settings will remain the same. The only difference will be the addition of features of the version of Windows you are moving to.
