0 (zero) key does not work on numeric keypad

When I use the numeric keypad that is part of this computer not an accessory I am unable to use the 0 (zero) key when typing numbers. The 0 (zero) key does that when using a web browser on mine that I just bought 2 days ago. It works fine everywhere else provided the num lock is used. If you look at that key, you will see that it also serves other functions: insert & the right click menu. There should be more documentation on it. I am still looking.

Question

What memory will work?

Will any matching two 4GB (8GB total) of 1600MHz DDR3 SO-DIMM modules work to upgrade the NP365E5C to 8GB? Or, does this notebook need specific memory? Does it need a specific CAS?

I talked to a notebook repair technician who updates BIOS on notebooks often. He said this is common for Windows 8 on many different brands and models of notebooks. It doesn't happen every time. As with my notebook. I updated my BIOS through the Samsung SW update program. I didn't have to validate Windows 8 the first time after a BIOS update, but did after the second time. Windows 8 failed to validate over the Internet. I had to call the phone number Microsoft gave and validate over the phone. You get a digital voice over a computer and one question is confusing. It asks how many computers you installed Windows 8 on, but on a computer coming Windows 8 OEM, we didn't install it at all. If you answer anything except "one," the phone computer doesn't understand and assumes you are installing without a valid license. Then, you will have to start the very long process all over again.

Thank you for contacting Samsung. It is likely that you're just seeing windows reserving memory for different functions. If you would like us to take a closer look at your issue, please contact us at qasupport@sea.samsung.com and provide a screenshot of what tool you're using to determine this and a screenshot of the Memory section of the Performance tab in Task Manager. Question

My DVD drive making random sounds...

The entire time I've had this laptop it's randomly made noises from what seems to be the dvd drive, like it's activating, but I've yet to even use the dvd drive.

I wasn't really concerned but I looked it up and other laptops from other makers have had the same "issue" and since it's apparently not normal, I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem and is it something to be concerned about?

It's doing it right now, lol.

Question

Numerica Keypad problem

When using the numeric keypad on this unit such as for typing in phone numbers or credit card information when I press the zero (0) key it always brings up a window on the left upper screen (undo, cut, copy, paste, delete, select all) How can I get this to stop doing this so that I can quickly utilize the numeric keypad not the numbers at the top of the screen. If I wanted to use those numbers I would have bought a computer with no numeric pad. Thank you for any help and suggestions in this matter, the sooner the better.

Question

How can I circumvent the the password portion of the start up process?

I don't like to have to stop and put in a password every time I start my laptop. This is my laptop and no one else is going to use it. I've never had a laptop by any other manufacturer where I had to put in a password to make it go. And don't tell me that this is for my own protection, etc. I just want to start it and go. I think I got around this password requirement on a previous Samsung I owned but I can't remember how I did it.
