On startup, you can tap on F4 and you should have Samsung Recovery Solution. Then accept the License Agreement and you'll have options for Restore and Backup. Select Restore and then select Complete Restore if you wanna start from scratch. :)

Question
I want to use an external mouse and disable the Smart-Pad
But there isn't an option in the control panel or in the Samsung apps that I see to disable the Smart-Pad. I don't really want to uninstall the driver, but is that my only option? Thx!

Question
No screen display when using all Fn keys, e.g. wifi, sound volume, etc
Re: Samsung laptop NP300V5A-A08US - Win.7 Home Premium
Because it frequently crashed, I re-installed using the supplied single Recovery Win7 Disc. After installing drivers from Samsung website, some Fn function keys work but not displayed on screen:
Sound/Brightness/Touchpad-enable/disable - these Fn keys work but nothing displayed on screen; so have to guess
For wifi and ethernet connection, need to use Control Panel because your drivers don't display on Task Bar, nor the sound/brightness/touchpad mentioned above.
To config using external display, need to use Control Panel.
How can I get your drivers to work like they did in the original factory installed Win7 OS and also display them on screen because without the display, I need to guess around.
The remaining function keys not mentioned above are just not available after re-installing Win7 using your Recovery Disc.
Since Easy Settings is not an optional download for this model, we recommend you try the Easy Display Manager software. If you need additional support, we recommend you email qasupport@sea.samsung.com. Please be sure to include your full model and serial numbers.
We recommend you install the Easy Settings software on your computer. It is available for download via the following link. Just click on Manuals & Downloads > Software.

I'm sure you've received your answer by now but if their is video but no light to brighten it up, the back-light is dead on the LCD and the LCD will need to be replaced.
Good luck!

Why don't my keyboard Navigation (arrow) keys work properly?
If I'm in, for example, Notepad, the Left arrow should move the cursor one character to the left, the Up arrow should move me to the previous line, etc. Instead, the Left arrow moves me to the next open item on the task bar, the Down arrow minimizes the window, etc.
This has been the behavior since I took the laptop out of the box two days ago.

Figured it out. One of the first programs I installed was VirtuaWin (which gives you multiple virtual desktops), which loads at startup. I booted in Safe Mode and the arrow keys were fine, so I realized that it had to be some add-on. When I exited VirtuaWin, the arrow keys started working properly.

Is there any way to get my original software reinstalled if I completely erased all partitions including the hidden partition used in system recovery?
The only software that have is Windows 7, and that came with the computer in the box. However, I'm missing the DVD software, the mouse-pointer software, the "games" software, etc. I'm missing all the software that came with the computer because I thought the disk in the box included all of those extra porgrams.
In other words, since I completely ersed all partions of my hard drive, I don't have a way to return the computer to the original state from when I purchased it. Can I get a set of CDs that I can run to recover to out-of-the-box state?
Thanks for looking into this.

Question
Is this the restore disc?
I purchased a used Samsung laptop Series 3 15.6" Notebook Model #: NP300V5A-A06US. I was told by the seller that she couldn't find the disc that came with it. (The drivers and software disc.) working with it I found a disc in the drive, Repair Solutions, Software & reference Files, Version 1.02, Copyright (c) 2009 IEC. MRP #93-0195 Rev.B. Is this the correct disc for this laptop? Is this the disc I would use when I replace the hard drive?

I'm very sorry for any inconvenience this may have given you. Here's the link to where you could find a driver for that component: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/NP300V5AI#drivers
Go to the driver tab on that page. Look for the LAN adapter driver for your OS.
There is a little box that pops up on the task bar. When I right click it to see what it is, it says EDT control center, pin this program to the task bar, and close this window. Since I dont know what it is I tell it to close and then it tells me that the EDT Control Center is not responding. What is this and what does it mean? I also have been having problems with internet speed fluctuation issues. Does this have something to do with that?

Thank you for contacting Samsung.
We have looked in the manual and consulted our Knowledge Base team and the notebook experts are unfamiliar with an EDT Control Center. It could be anything really. Some third-party install that came packaged with some software you may have installed or potentially even a virus. We recommend you run a full virus scan and also try looking to see if there is an entry under Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a Program (under Programs). If there is a listing for, try uninstalling it.

Thank you for contacting Samsung. Compatible drivers for Windows 8 may be obtained by using the update program here: http://orcaservice.samsungmobile.com/SWUpdate.aspx
If that doesn’t work, we encourage you to visit the product support page to check for added drivers: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/supportOwnersProduct.do?prd_ia_cd=N0000137&prd_mdl_cd=NP300V5A-A05US&prd_mdl_name=NP300V5AI
Not displayed on screen when using all Fn keys---Part 2
This is a follow-up to my previous question on "No display on screen when using Fn function keys." Thanks for reply but not clear.
Your link shows a list of software but those names don't describe my No-Display problem. Can you please point out which software(s) are applicable for my Win7 OS?
Also mentioned previously, after re-installing Win7 using your supplied OS disc and downloading your drivers, these function keys don't work: 1. Brightness - Fn2 and Fn3 don't work. Have to go Control Panel 2. Switch from laptop to external display - F4 - have to use Control Panel 3. Disable Touch pad - Fn5 - have to use Control Panel 4. Bluetooth - have to use Control.
SUMMARY: Fn function keys don't work. When using icons on Task Bar to configure Bluetooth and Sound, no display on screen.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.
Based on our research, it doesn't look a 3rd party video card can be added to this laptop. We have reviewed the product manual available on the product support website and it indicates that only the memory (RAM) can be upgraded.
If you have any additional questions, we suggest your refer to your product manual or the product support page on our website, where you'll find a comprehensive troubleshooting guide, product support videos, FAQs and How-Tos, as well as manual, drivers, software & firmware downloads.
