Go to Control Panel > System and on the right side there's a Windows Activation section, try entering your Windows license and Windows will try to validate it (be sure to be connected to the internet). The license number is on a sticker on the bottom of your laptop.

This worked for me.

This is due to hardware acceleration feature Flash 10.1 release. Disable it from FLASH settings and it will go away. NVIDIA has released the new drivers to support FLASH 10.1 features but samsung has to release its own official version to make it work on qx410. Hope Samsung does it at the earliest

I'm having the same issue. It seems to be related to NVIDIA because when I force the browser to use the integrated Intel graphics I don't get the problem (right click on your browser, go to "Run with graphics processor" and choose Integrated") However, with the Intel graphics I'm seeing a ton of video tearing, so it's trading one problem for another.

Please note that if you're noticing any issues with video/picture clarity in your browser the issue could be the browser itself. Check the bottom right corner of the browser and you should see a magnifying glass along with a percentage. My percentage initially was set to 125% and video/pics online looked grainy. Putting to 100% cleared it right up!!

I have the same problem...something that I did helped a bit by going to NVIDIA Control Panel. Everything was set on Video player settings. Change it to NVIDIA settings (all 3 on boxes) and try to see if it helped or not. It definately helped me but lowered by battery life by 2-3 hours =( . If you have a better solution please let me know because my laptop does not last long at all...

Mine recently stopped working as well. I just went into the Device Manager (on Win7 Start, type Device Manager) then on Mice double-click ELAN, select Driver.

I just updated the driver and it fixed it. Funny that the date code is 8/30/2010. The version is 8.0.7.1.

Restarted and it worked.

The trackpad software is called "Elan" and should be accessible under "Mouse Properties" in the far right tab. Otherwise, both vertical and horizontal scrolling functions are by default in close proximity to the edges of the trackpad and i believe the multitouch scrolling gesture seen on Macs is also supported. For options and customization, see the elan tab in "mouse properties" and then selecting "options"

Samsung claims the battery in the QX410 is not user replaceable, but it should last for 1,000 cycles (approximately 3 years). As more hit the market and users exceed the 1 year warranty we might see some battery replacement attempts posted on the web.

Problems with video and mouse jumping

So I am already having a couple of issues with this new laptop. First, when I put a video into full screen mode, there is some flickering that happens towards the bottom. Secondly, I am noticing that when I type an email or in Word, the cursor will jump around the screen and mess me up.

It should only happen when using flash like when using Youtube. Try reducing resolution and it should work. It should be fine when watching movies i.e. DVDs or Netflixs etc.

I downloaded the drivers from Intel and NVidia to update which did not help. Same thing happens with other laptops just to high of resolution.

Possible yes, but very difficult considering that you would not be able to use any of the features the laptop has. You would have to hunt down drivers and that could take hours if not days. And even then windows xp will not have support for the model because it was ment for windows 7. If you need windows xp because of some software that wont run, then upgrade to windows 7 professional anytime upgrade and youll have a feature called XP Mode which willl emulate a XP environment on your laptop and give you the capability of installing and running older software.

Yes, the hard drive was partioned (from manufacturer) into C and D drives with 232 Gb and 347 Gb, respectively. Don't really know why Samsung want to do it that way. However, you can always repartition the hard drive back into one drive but be sure you really know how. Otherwise, it does really hurt to live it as is.

Question

How can I allow the Samsung software to run at start up without entering my admin password three times?

I've set my windows 7 laptop up with a normal user and an administrator account. Whenever I log into the normal user account, three Samsung programs request administrator privileges: Fast Start, Update Plus, and Battery Life Extender. Is there anyway I can permanently grant these programs admin privileges so I don't have to repeatedly enter my password every time I log in? I am somewhat new to Windows 7 but I am very familiar with XP and Linux.

It seems that Samsung installs these applications and uses the Task Scheduler to start them. To allow this to happen, I logged in as the administrator, opened up the task scheduler selected one of the tasks requiring admin privileges, clicked on Properties and changed the group that the task runs as from Users to Administrators. This seems to solve the problem. I did this for the following executables (look at the actions tab):

EasySpeedUpManager2.exe
WifiManager.exe
BatteryLifeExtender.exe
SmartRestarter.exe
SSCKbdHk.exe
SUPBackground.exe

These may be different for you, so you should look at what tasks are asking for administrator privileges before changing their "run as" property.
