Please note that being unable to change the desktop background on a computer using Windows 7 Starter is a limitation of the operating system, for details please refer to the following Microsoft article:

While you can't add or choose a more unique desktop background you don’t need to keep the solid black or preloaded desktop image. You can change the desktop background by changing the “Windows color scheme”. By changing the color scheme you will have a choice of 20 different desktop background colors. We're sorry to hear you've encountered this issue. There are a handful of software packages that come pre-installed on the netbooks. We recommend you try installing/re-installing Easy Display Manager or Easy Resolution Manager first to see if this resolves the issue. You can find those software downloads, along with drivers, firmware and much more on the product support page on our website. Just look under the tabbed section labeled Manuals & Downloads.

Why yes, I had the same problem. I called Microsoft and has them run the product key. It came back as an upgrade. There is something in the BIOS (they say) that will prevent any upgrade op sys unless you purchase the Anytime Upgrade. I tried the XP install too but didnt have the clean install so I put 7 starter back on (for now). Hope that helps.

The volume on my netbook is declining how do I fix it?

How can my laptop detect wireless internet?

My netbook used to detect wireless internet. Lately, when there is wireless in range, my netbook does not detect it at all and I am therefore not able to connect. Can I fix this problem manually? Download software? What changed? Why can my netbook no longer detect wireless?
