840 Pro SSD - Frozen State

My (MZ-7PD512BW) 512GB 2.5-inch SSD 840 Pro Series keeps "freezing up." I have to boot from a USB flash drive loaded with SamsungBoot and type SEGUI0.exe to get it "unfrozen." I am trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and I run into various problems preventing the SSD from booting. Then the SSD freezes up. I have been using this SSD for3 months and it is now doing this. It has been running fine prior to this using the same Windows 7 OS. I have no problems when installing the same OS on my stock 1TB HDD. I am using this SSD on my Dell Inspiron 17R N7110 laptop. Do I need to send it back or can I fix this problem somehow?

SSD's have sort of a mortality rate, HDD's really never die however SSD's can. I don't know the ratio of good to bad but generally the trend seems to be from 6 months to a little less than a year, is when the drives that have faults begin to die. An even smaller amount begin to fail at around 3 to 4 months.

My advice is to back up/clone/image the drive with your stock HDD or another working computer then try to exchange it for another one. I wouldn't wait to long either the sooner you get the information off the drive the better the chance of not losing anything. They tend to begin to lose bits of data when this happens.

Question

Bootable secure erase unuseable

Samsung needs to fix the Bootable Secure Erase software so we can read what is on the screen. When I boot into it, it just come up a garbled illegible mess.Have tried on multiple machines & different resolutions with no luck.

Encryption and 2 Factor Authentication

Does the Samsung 840 pro SSDs support two factor authentication? My business requires full disk encryption and two factor authentication on all laptops. In particular, I need to use a smart card and password to decrypt the drive. Any solutions will need to support Linux and Windows.

Question

Samsung Magician giving unusual benchmarks stats

when I initially installed the SSD about two weeks ago the benchmark stats were within the range (if not often lower) than the benchmark guides listed in Magician. For the last two days I have been getting very bizarre stats returns after running the benchmark tests (see benchmark readings attachment.) I have tried re-optimizing both the ssd and the OS and the readings are still the same (bizarre)

Can anyone tell me how to fix this and get the proper performance readings (hopefully optimized).

Is it possible my SSD has a defect that has just now surfaced?

Since cloning and swapping to the SSD, getting intermittent blue screen of death

Since cloning and swapping to the SSD, have been getting an intermittent blue screen of death with a stop: 0x00000019. Some windows 7 functionality seems to also be missing, suspect it is corrupted. Tried to reinstall windows from scratch, but get the windows stop doing that also. Open to any ideas on how to fix this.

When I first got the drive I registered it here.
Magician saw my drive as authentic.
Now for some reason it's saying disk authentication operation failed.

Question

Why does Samsung Magician always state that I should check the system configuration

Every time I do a performance benchmark. A message states that I should confirm that my system is configured properly by consulting the "OS Optimization" menu You may also try running the "Performance Optimization" feature. I have tried just about every configuration in the "OS Optimization" menu. Always the same message. Is this an error message or not?

The drive is currently set on Maximum reliability with Rapid Mode enabled.
The last run was SQ read was 1347 MB/s - SQ write was 1266 MB/s
(IOPS) Random read was 106369 - Random write was 78115.

Win 7 64
Asrock Z68 board extreme 7 Gen 3
Radeon 6970 2 GB
!6 Gb Kingston XMP 1600 MHz
256 Pro SSD
WD Black WD1002-FAEX

Question

Using SSD's hardware encryption with Lenovo ThinkPad W500

When I set the HDD password in my ThinkPad's BIOS setup (BIOS is at latest level, as is Samsung Pro 840 512GB SSD's firmware) the drive becomes unusable, but works fine after I remove the HDD password. Are there additional BIOS setup/configuration steps I need to take in order to use the SSD's hardware-based full0disk encryption?

P.S. Your migration software didn't work. The SSD wouldn't boot. I had to use Windows 7 (x64) to create a system image to an external HDD which I then restored to the SSD.

What if I have a Macintosh?

Why is it assumed that only people who use PCs use this product? Is there no instruction whatsoever for people who use this product in Macintosh laptops? Is there no Magician software for Macintosh users? This is really puzzling to me that an entire segment of the computer-using population is not included…

Question

840 pro shows up as multiple drives; and disables various functions

I recently installed the 840 pro, and it seems to work fine, but....

magician (4.3) shows I have THREE 840s in my system, when I only have ONE.
I assume this is the reason that RAPID mode cannot be enabled; it says "A similar ssd was detected. rapid mode cannot be enabled on this SSD."
this is the ONLY ssd in the system.

that said, the two RAID1 arrays I have do NOT show up, so presumably it is reading those as another 840 pro.

anyway, the speeds are kind of slow (250/44000) roughly half of what they should be.
it also says ahci is not enabled, even though it is set up for raid, of which ahci is a subset.
and the intel ssd I replaced DID see the SAME hw as ahci, so magician must be bugged.

any ideas? this is kind of disappointing so far

Question

box states 5 year warranty, but online states 3 years. Is it 3 or 5?

Why did New Egg sell me the Pro 840 SSD advertising 5 year warranty and packaging states 5 year warranty, but Samsung website states you really only get a 3 year warranty?

Also how come the migration tool did not set up Over Provisioning? I recommend having the migration tool at least ask or just set it to the recommended value since the Magician software will not let you set up OP after using the migration software.
