How to see SMART data, Drive Health, Bytes Written

SSD Magician 4.0 does not show SMART data, Drive Health, or Bytes Written for my 128GB 840 Pro running Win7-64. All other parts of SSD Magician seem to work OK.

How do I get the missing data to show up?

Question

Correct PCI-E Sata III card to use with 840 Pro SSD

I am using this SSD on a Windows Home Server 2011 server (Windows 7 64 Bit OS) system with a 12 TB Raid. The raid system takes all the SATA ports on the motherboard. I'm moving the OS from the RAID to the SSD for performance improvements. My question is what is the best solution to maximize performance of the SSD in this system? If I use a PCI-E card, max IO will be limited to 500mbps. Will that impact the performance of the SSD? Can you recommend the proper solution? If using a PCI-E SATA III card is acceptable, can you recommend one for the 840 Pro Series 128gb drive?

Disk Authentication Failed

Why am I getting "Disk Authentication Failed" in Magician 4.1 (also 4.0) when I click "SSD Authenticity" ? I have an 840Pro 128Mb, firmware DXM04B0Q. I tried updating the firmware but it fails with the message: "Failed to update firmware on the selected drive" after the download completes.

Data Migration Software

I am attempting to migrate Windows 8 off of my HDD to this newly purchased SSD using the software you have provided. It gives me an error, "Cloning failed. An error occurred when defragmenting the disc". It offers no solutions or other methods to try. I have also attempted to use Norton Ghost unsuccessfully. Please let me know what I can do to fix this.

Question

can't install Magician 4.2.1 on Win7 64 bit

I'm running a completely new system, Win7 64 bit.
The system drive is 840 PRO 128GB.

When I simply run the setup file I get "the version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running".

When I run the file with administrator privileges I get "windows cannot find the file specified" on the setup file.

I tried various compatibility options, no luck. What gives?

Question

How can I install the SSD 840 Pro 128GB (MZ-7PD128BW) on my HP8-1414?

Installed the new drive as a secondary drive on an open SATA connection on the Angelica2 motherboard. When booting up, post displays drive information correctly. Data migration tool in Windows 8 fails, though. I install the data migration tool from the CD and then update to the latest version from the Internet (version 2.0.1.0). The data migration tool sees the drive, but when cloning begins, it indicates "error defragmentation" or "drive disconnected." It seems that as soon as the tool attempts to write anything to the SSD, the SSD disappears and can no longer be detected. I also get and AMD alert about a "RAID setdown." After this happens, the data miagration tool no longer detects the drive unless I power down and physically unhook it and move it to another SATA port. My source drive is set to RAID in the BIOS which my be the problem but the computer won't boot if I change it to AHCI.

Question

Warranty is NOT accurate

Look at the warranty stated on your box. It clearly indicates 5 year warranty. However when you register the ssd on the Samsung website, it say 36 months warranty. I got tricked because the only reason I bought this brand is because of the 5 year warranty. And that seem to have been changed!

Question

MY 840 Pro SSD is not Recognized by Magician Software V 3.2

Just installed a 128GB 840 Pro SSD and after starting the Magician Software it indicated no recognized Samsung drive installed. Some of the Magician features work, yet the Firmware Update option does not. I have a Gateway DX4320-19 with a RAID Controller and this configuration caused problems with my Crucial M4 SSD as well.

No BIOS update is available (latest installed). Is there another means to help establish full communication with the Magician software or a DOS bypass option? Thank you.
