The B650 is this years newest model, and it replaced the A650. Some of the new and upgraded features that the B650 has over the A650 are: Higher contrast ratio, redesigned bezel, Internet@TV on the 40"+, USB2.0 Movie, and the content libraries on the 40"+ models.

Question

How can I change the thumbnails of video files in the USB player?

I very much like how the medi@2.0 USB player functions, and the interface is wonderful. However, I would like to change the thumbnails for a lot of my video files. Is there a way to select which frame is used for the thumbnail? If not, this would be a welcome addition in a firmware update :)

Question

Do surround speakers that are placed right next to the television harmful to the tv?

I'm concern that the magnets of my magnetically shielded speakers will damage the tv. This was what I was told as far as CRT televsions. But I don't know much about LCD televsions. Most places on the internet seem to think that there will be no harm.
Thanks.

Truthfully, I wouldn't put speakers right up against the any TV, just in case. But the technology within the LCDs is much different to that of the old CRTs, so there should not be any interference or damage done to the set if you have the speakers somewhere close to it.

Question

What exactly does the DLNA Certified mean?

I an looking to purchase a new HDTV and have an interest in the 750 models. I can see that there's ethernet connectivity but I have a 802.11 LAN that I'd like to connect a TV to as a device. Is there a Samsung model that provides wireless connectivity (Bluetooth would also be OK)?

Basically DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) is a standard used by many different manufacturers to allow entertainment devices within the home network to share their content with each other without a complicated configuration process. So you should be able to view content from a DLNA certified computer on your TV, for example.

Although there is no wireless connectivity within any of the Samsung TVs, we do offer a Wireless Linkstick (WIS09ABGN) for wireless capabilities to any wireless router.

If you purchase the unit within the North American Territories, it will only have support for NTSC/ATSC/QAM broadcasting systems and only 100v-127v 60Hz power. Outside of the NA territories you will not only need a converter for the broadcast, but also for the power.

Question

WIS09ABGN Linkstick Needed for both Blue Ray & TV?

Do I need a seperate Linkstick for both the TV LN46B750 and for the BD-P4600? Or can I just plug the Link into one of them (which one?) and they will communicate via the HDMI or the LAN cable to each other?

Unfortunately, if you want to access all the features on both the TV and the BD player, you will need separate linksticks. The reason for this is that the HDMI 1.3 standard does not allow for networked information to be transmitted via the cable, nor is the ethernet ports on the units designed to be cross-over compliant (able to network directly to other devices and not a hub or router).

Although I no longer have the spec sheets for the A series models, I can say that the B750 is the newest model for 2009 while the A750 is a discontinued model that was produced in 2008.
One of the main differences between these two models is that the contrast of the B750 is considerably higher then that of the A750 and many of the internals of the B750 have been updated.

Question

Can closed caption be locted on the bottom of the screen?

750 series LCD Closed Caption: At the store they did not know how to get the closed caption to appear across the bottom of the screen. The system seemed to block out a 5" by 20" space in the upper left of the screen where the closed caption was located. This blocked some of the images.

Although there are a number of cleaning products on the market that say they are “Safe” for LCD/Plasma panel usage, I recommend just using plain old purified water without any minerals and a non-abrasive cloth. Purified water with out minerals will also prevent any mineral deposits to collect on the screen.

The B750 will only support HDMI 1.3. Unfortunately, the 2009-10 “B” series Samsung TVs and 2009-10 Samsung Blu-Ray Players will not be eligible for upgrades to the 2010 Samsung Apps Engine or 3D. For the TVs, the panel material isn’t able to display 3D content and the internal hardware (processors, HDMI ports, etc.) on both the TVs and the BD players are not compatible with 3D, the 2010 Samsung Apps Engine or any other 2010 feature.

Question

How do I remove outline blur?

I have a Samsung LN46B750, on certain shows/movies I get an obvious burred outline around people as they casually move across the screen. I've tried all the setting adjustments and none really work to remove this effect. Has anyone experienced this problem, any solutions to remove the effect, or do you think I have a faulty set. I am using Monster M2000 HDMI cable.

To alleviate blur from your picture, I would suggest adjusting your Auto Motion Plus setting. To adjust this feature, you will want to enter the TV's menu, then navigate to the Picture sub-menu. Once there, scroll down and click on "Picture Options". Auto Motion Plus will then be located within this new menu, where you can adjust it from its highest setting to off.
