Try unplugging the power cord (not just turning the power off) for 1-2 minutes so that no power can travel into the tv. When you plug your tv back into a power source, it should go through a new power cycle and allow you to turn the tv on as normal.

I play my IPOD Touch videos on my Samsung TV with no problems by connecting the IPOD to the composit A/V input on the side of the tv. The composit connection is the one with a yellow video, and a red and white audio. I cannot play videos on my TV using the component connections (blue/green/yellow video, reg/white audio), only the composit.

Question

Firmware for Model LN46A650A1F

Recently I had occasion to review info on my Samsung TV. In that process, I discovered a download page for firmware. Firmware 2007.0 was available and I downloaded it to a USB and followed the instructions to unzip the file. When I plugged the USB drive into the port on the TV I was asked if I wanted to replace 1003.M with 2007.0. Wasn't sure if I should go ahead and replace the version with the "M". Any help appreciated.

In the event that you cannot find the wireless adapter for this TV as instructed in our previous reply, you also have the option of connecting it via a wired connection. In order to achieve a wired connection to the TV if the router is not nearby, you can purchase a third-party wireless media adapter and run a wired connection from it through a switch to the TV.

As you stated, it will not work on any PAL signal. However, if you are using All US spec components, and you have the correct power converter, then you will be able to use the TV as a "Monitor" of sorts.

That’s a great question. The processor on the Samsung 120Hz/240Hz units will always display at their respective Hz. Even though the signal is only being transmitted at 60Hz, it will always display at 120Hz/240Hz since the processor is always upconverting the signal. Activating the Auto Motion Plus feature will allow for judder reduction and blurring reduction, depending on what settings you activate. This will enhance your 120Hz/240Hz viewing. The reason you are seeing the 60Hz in the info box is because the info box only displays the signal’s actual Hz and screen resolution and not the info of the picture on the screen after the TV processes it. Meaning that the 60Hz you are seeing is the signals actual Hz and not the screen’s Hz. Currently there is no way to display the screen’s Hz in the info box.

Question

Why does my screen go black?

Whenever a scene comes on my screen that is mostly white (for example, a white screen with a product logo in the middle) the screen goes dark for approx. 5 seconds. Then is turns blue, the the picture comes back with the info block in the top right corner ( the block that shows the time and the 1080p setting). This seems to happen more and more frequently, only with the extremely bright white screen scenes.

Currently, the Samsung App Engine will only be available on the 2010 “C” Samsung TVs with Itnernet@TV. This means that all 2009 “B” units and 2010 “C” units that do not offer Internet@TV or Samsung Apps will not be receiving an update to run Samsung Apps and any of the associated applications at this time. To access Samsung Apps on non-Internet@TV units, you can connect a 2010 Samsung Blu-Ray player to your TV.

The main difference between the LN46A650 and LN46B650 are that the B650 is the new model for 2009, offers a dynamic contrast of 100,000:1, and has an updated bezel.

I'm guessing you meant the UN46B6000. This particular model offers LED lighting, where as the LN46A650 and B650 offers a back lighting unit that is not LED.

I hope this has answered your questions :)

Hi there, thanks for the question. If you purchased the LN46A650 within the US, then it will only decode an NTSC signal. The only way that I think you will be able to view a PAL broadcast is through HDMI, but this may also have its own issues since no matter how you transmit it, a PAL signal will be sent through any cable at a different frequency then NTSC.

Question

Turn on Touch of Color?

Is Touch of Color passive or active? I purchased my TV in October 2008 and the picture quality is great, but I can not figure out how to turn on the Touch of Color feature. It appears that it is only illuminated by an external light source behind the TV. Is there an internal light that makes the Touch of Color plastic glow?

ToC is a passive color enhanced bezel, meaning that the bezel it self is transparent and tinted, in your TV's case, red. The brighter the background behind your TV is, the more vivid the color becomes. There is no on or off, ToC only refers to the touch of color we gave to the bezel.

Question

Why won't my LN46A650A1F detect any signals from HDMI cables?

I've tried several different cables in all three inputs using several different devices (2 PS3's and a Frontier FiOS box). It recognizes when a cable is plugged in because it highlights it in the input selection menu, but when I select it, no picture appears and a "No signal" message is displayed after it searches for a signal for a few seconds. The component video inputs work, and so do the RCA audio inputs, and that's what I'm using to get a picture now. I've tried using the RCA cables to connect the PS3 to the TV, but the picture won't come up on that either (so I have no way of using my PS3). RCA picture works coming from the FiOS box. I'm more interested in a remedy for the HDMI problem though.

Although this model does not have direct access to Samsung Apps (like Netflix, Pandora or YouTube), it can access App content through a 2010 Samsung BD player (the blu-ray player will handle the Internet content processing. Hulu+ is only available on the 2010 3D Blu-Ray Players at this time). Unfortunately, there is currently no information on upgrades to Samsung Apps for the 2009 and earlier TVs.
