Question

Why am I having brightness problems after firmware upgrade

I have owned this TV for about a year and loved it. Two days ago I was prompted on the TV to upgrade to firmware 1035. The upgrade went smoothly but I've now noticed the brightness on the TV will adjust from normal to a darker level and then return to the normal setting. This happens about every 2-3 min. I did the picture test and it did not happen. Can you advise?

Question

I was prompted to download software on my TV screen for model #LN40C670M1FXZA.

So I said "yes" and now my screen has shrunk. The image fills the screen when I'm in HDTV channels but the image shrunk on the regular channels. Very large black sections on the side. How do I get my TV image back to its regular size?

With the LN40C670, as well as all of the other Samsung TVs, a coax ATSC/QAM tuner that handles digital and analogue broadcast signals is included. The Coax connection is for your direct cable connection from your service provider. If you use a cable box, or other set top box, you do not have to worry about the coax connection, since the cable box will handle the processing of the cable signal. This unit also offer the Samsung Apps that allows you to access internet content right from your TV (an internet connection is required, as well as the WIS09ABGN WiFi dongle for a wireless connection to your home network. An ethernet cable for a hard wire connection to your home network will also work). Some Samsung Apps include Netflix, games, youtube and twitter, just to name a few. For more info on the Apps, please follow the below link.

It all depends on what content you want to subscribe to. Although all information for apps like the AP news app and Accuweather do not require a subscription, apps like Netflix and BlockBuster will require a subscription. With that said, the C670 does not offer the Yahoo! widgets engine, which would have included a news widget from USA Today.

Unfortunately, Samsung can not suggest any specific calibration numbers since every calibration has to be done based on the preferences of the customer performing the low level calibration.
Perhaps other users on this forum may be able to better help you out. You can also ask your local retailer about Calibration options.

This TV is a fully capable 120Hz set and offers the Auto Motion Plus feature that enhances said 120Hz image. This set will always upscale your 60Hz signal to 120Hz, regardless of any settings you may have active. However, in order to receive the full 120Hz benefit (judder and blur reduction, and frame interpolation), you will need to have Auto Motion Plus active. The reason you are seeing the 60Hz in the info box is because the info box only displays the signal’s actual Hz and screen resolution and not the info of the picture on the screen after the TV processes it. Meaning that the 60Hz you are seeing is the signals actual Hz and not the screen’s Hz. Currently there is no way to display the screen’s Hz in the info box. Coincidentally, the Samsung TVs can only accept a 60Hz signal and there are currently no consumer devices on the market that will transmit at over 60Hz (excluding some PCs).
