The humming noise may be because of an old dvd/vcr or audio input. Make sure all connections are made using high quality connectors (gold) rather than cheap silver or bronze connections.

In the pictures, the red accent along the bottom of the unit is accentuated in order to let the customer who is about to purchase the model know that the unit does come with a red tint to the bezel. However, this tint can not be turned on or off since it is just the color of that piece of the bezel.

You need to 'mount' the iso file before you present it to the media player. In linux this is mount -o loop command. Once mounted, the iso file shows as normal vob files which the tv can play.

Is there anyway to get my HD picture to fit the whole screen. Right now I have it set on 16x9, which looks great but I do not want the two black bars?

I tried the zoom 1 option, which makes the picture fit the screen, but that loses a lot of the HD picture quality.

Depends on the rates your service tech charges to solder a new port in. Probably be cheaper to add a switch to send two devices to a remaining port.

There are three ways to connect your PC to your LN40C530: monitor cable, HDMI to HDMI or HDMI to DVI.

Although all of these connections are easy to hook up, the PC monitor cable is the most common. To connect it this way, just use a standard PC monitor cable to connect from the monitor out of your PC to the PC input on the TV. Some adjustments to the PC's resolution is required.

If your PC offer HDMI out, I would highly suggest using this connection, since it is a basic plug-n-play connection (meaning almost no adjustment is needed on the TV or PC).

HDMI to DVI is almost the same as straight HDMI, but in this case, you will want to connect the DVI end of the cable to the PC (if available) and the HDMI into the TV. This is also considered a plug-n-play connection.

Unless otherwise specified by your PC manufacturer, you will need to connect the PC's audio to the TV with a separate cable (3.5mm jack cable), since most PCs do not support audio over HDMI, VGA or DVI.

Although the wattage and amperage numbers are not readily available (since daily usage varies from owner to owner depending on settings and content), I can say that most all current generation Samsung TVs are EnergyStar4.0 compliant. This ensures the best possible performance with minimal power usage. Also, most LED TVs will use up to 40% less power then traditional LCD TVs.

All UN, PN and LN units (North American Units) will only have support for NTSC/ATSC/QAM broadcasting systems and NA power systems. Since the NA TVs will not accept a PAL signal or Non-NA voltages, you will not only need a converter for the broadcast, but also for the power if you would like to use the TV in a PAL country. The LA40C530 is not a North American TV, and thus can not be purchased with in the states.

Question

I get the "audio codec not supported" error when playing an mkv file, but there's audio at the beginning!

The audio is encoded in DTS . The problem is that when the movie starts playing the audio is actually working but after 3 or 4 sec the audio stops and the "audio codec not supported" error pops up. I don't get it, if the audio codec is not supported why is there audio at the beginning??????. The TV is actually decoding the audio but then i get the error and i get no sound afterwards.
How can i solve this?

Thanks in advance.

Question

audio connections unclear

I run audio into and out from my TV to home stereo and from PC. The owners manual and set-up instructions are clear and concise, very excellent!

I was, however, unable to locate any clear identification of the audio cable type needed to match the input jacks on the TV back. Through (VERY careful) trial and error I discovered that the TV will accept a 1/8" stereo "mini" jack. I appear to have two channel stereo input and output using this wiring configuration, so I believe I am correct in using the 1/8" stereo minijack (such as an earbud wire or small headphone wire).

Please consider upgrading the set-up instructions or owners manual to clearly specify the audio cable type.

Question

Has there been any experience with the picture going dark after about 15 seconds? (LN40C530F1FXA

This occurs only on occasion. When it is happening, it doesn't matter whether the source is the cable box or the Blu-Ray. Sometimes a combination of turning things off and on, unplugging things and who knows what makes it stop. Other times I can't fix it so just give up and try again the next day. So far it has worked the next day.

Basically there's two options.

1) Standard monitor cable from the PC to the TV.
2) HDMI from the TV to a HDMI-DVI adapter to the DVI on your laptop--if it has a DVI connector.

Option 2) is what I use.

As a matter of fact, this device does have closed captioning. In order to access it, you can head into the TV's menu, then into the setup sub-menu to access the CC options or to just activate it, press the CC button on the remote control. However, CC is only available via the coax cable since the CC signal has to be sent by your service provider. CC, as far as I know, is not sent via HDMI or other secondary connections from your service providers set top boxes. Captions are subject to your service provider’s availability.
