As a matter of fact, this device does have closed captioning. In order to access it, you can head into the TV's menu, then into the setup sub-menu to access the CC options or to just activate it, press the CC button on the remote control. However, CC is only available via the coax cable since the CC signal has to be sent by your service provider. The CC information cannot be sent via HDMI or other secondary connections from 3rd party devices. That said, most service provider set top boxes and DVD/BD players will handle CC on board, which will then be displayed on the TV as part of the video signal. Captions are subject to your service provider’s availability.

This unit does actually have a 1-tuner PiP system. PiP 1-tuner systems only allow for one cable connection to be shown at a time on the screen. In order to connect it up, you will need a hard line going into the TV (cable coax) and an active secondary connection (HDMI, component, PC). To activate it up, either head into the TV's menu or click the Tools button on the remote control.

Again, you will need both a coax connection and a secondary input connection in order to properly activate and view PiP on your set. If your option is grayed out, this means that one of the required connections is not active and connected properly.

The code is or should be TV POWER+01. If for any reason that one doesn't work try any of the following which are +02, +03, +04, +05, +06, +07, +08, and +09. You should also be able to control the BD-C6500 with the TVs remote control as long as you have them connected through HDMI. I have the same setup and it works fine for me.

Question

The TV will not turn on, yet has power. Why?

If the on-off button on the bottom right hand corner of the TV is touched, the red LED indicator blinks a few times and the TV does not turn on. If you try to turn it on with the remote, the same thing happens: the small red LED indicator light flashes and the TV does not turn on. Once in while, if you leave the TV alone and come back 15 minutes later, it turn right now. This is strange. I see nothing in the manual. What is wrong?

To select a different source, you will first want to make sure the device that is connected to HDMI3 is powered on. Then enter the source list by pressing the "Source" button on your remote control. Then using the directional pad, highlight the source you want to display, then press the "Enter" button on the remote.

Although I may not have the wattage numbers readily available to me (since daily usage varies from owner to owner depending on settings and content), I can say that most all current generation Samsung TVs are EnergyStar4.0 compliant. This ensures the best possible performance with minimal power usage.

The light you are seeing is actually the Standby light. It is very normal to have this light on while the TV is off, since the light is indicating that the TV is turned off. Otherwise, it would be very hard to tell at a glance whether the TV is on or off due to the nature of HDTVs.

Question

Why does my TV occasionally act like it is receiving a poor cable signal ?

My TV is 3 days old. While watching a show "live" as contrasted with one that was recorded on the DVR, occasionally the picture appears as though there is a difficulty receiving the cable signal-the picture breaks up, jumps around, once the screen went black for an instant-then everything clears up and is fine again. Comcast, my cable provider, is telling me it is not their problem. Any ideas -- it is distressing to have a new TV acting this way.
