Question

I have an LCD TV model LN-T5271F. Is this a multi-system (i.e. handles both PAL and NTSC)?

I will be moving to a PAL country and wanted to know if I will need to buy a PAL to NTSC converter. I did not see any mention in the owner's manual regarding this.

Question

My TV started taking longer and longer to turn on. The switch would "click" again and again, and now it won't turn on at all. Is this a known issue?

Is it covered under any sort of recall? We rarely use the switch, mostly the remote to control the TV, and yet it won't turn on at all. Help!

Question

If I get a good replacement BN94-01442A board should it work regardless of the firmware version the TV set has?

BACKGROUND:
I have a Samsung LNT5271F LCD TV that has the MISC FRC BN94-01442A board assembly going out. After warmup both vertical and horizontal lines show up in the display screen. At first it didn't occur very often and was very sensitive to mechanical vibrations (tapping on the plastic TV case would clear up the lines and return to normal operation.) I verified that it was the BN94-01442A board by blowing a heat gun on one of the large IC's on that board; heating the chip up brought on the problem and when heat was removed the problem went away. I think there may be a bad solder joint on one or more of the pins on the "ball grid array" under the chip on that board. Anyway, I purchased a replacement board on-line which had the same look and part number as the board in the set, but the replacement board didn't work at all; the screen was black with it so I returned that board and put the original one back in. In the mean time the original board has gotten worse and needs to be replaced.

QUESTIONS:
1.) Is there firmware in this board and, if so, does the board firmware version need to be the same version as that in the TV set? At first I thought the replacement board I purchased was simply defective but then I wondered later if it may have been a firmware compatibility issue that didn't allow the replacement board to produce a picture. I do remember updating the firmware to a later version in the TV about 6 months to a year after I purchased it.

2.) If I get a good replacement BN94-01442A board should it work regardless of the firmware version the TV set has?

Thank you for your assistance.

Question

My LN-T5271F LCD TV now takes 1 minute & 54 seconds for the pictire to appear when 1st turned on. What is causing this?

The TV was purchased in January, 2008. The picture used to come on in just a few seconds. The TV operates as good as new once the picture appears. The only problem is waiting this extended time between initiating startup and the picture appearing. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Question

What would cause a dark patch about 8" wide down the middle of my screen and the right side of my screen to be slow to change by about 5 to 6 seconds?

I have an LNT5271FX/XAA. Tv started out with right side of picture jumping around for the first 5 to 10 minutes then it would suddenly correct itself. Thought component was failing and had to heat up. Now, I have a darkened area that fades in in the middle of my screen. Noticed that text isn't affected by it. on the left 1/3 of my screen, It is very slow to fade out a picture and fade in the new picture. If it is a still picture, it will do it in about 5 to 7 seconds. If it is a steadily changing picture, it won't be right at all. So, for most tv viewing, the left 1/3 is unviewable. What would cause this?

Question

Why does it take so long to turn on?

My TV take several minutes to turn on, and it keeps getting longer. Last night I turned it on< then I went and took out the trash and did a few other chores and got back just as the picture was coming on. It literally is four to five minutes from the time I push the power button to the time I get a picture on the screen>
