Question

Would it be cost effective to have tv repaired and if so where?

My 3 year old LCD has developed pink dots and some vertical drips. From what I read this may be due to a power problem.

From the available information, the remotes that come with the Samsung TVs will only work with the TV itself, and cannot be programed to control other devices.

Question

Why does my tv click when it turns on

When I attempt to start my television, the tv clicks and plays the start up melody but fails to start up. It repeats this process for about 15 to 20 minutes until it finally turns on. It began taking only a few minutes but gradually got worse. Even when the tv starts it has purple dots all over the tv making it hard to see, and the only way to remove the dots is to turn the tv on and off a lot. Sometimes the tv attempts to turn on and on the screen it displays lines of different colors across the screen, sound can be heard but there is no video. The only way to remove this is to turn the tv on and off a few times.

Netflix works first with consoles like your computer, Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3. If you have any of those connected to your tv, then you can run Netflix on those so that you can watch Netflix on the tv. You CANNOT run Netflix directly from the tv.

Depending on the output connections your laptop has, you may be able to connect it to the tv in several ways. One option is through VGA; connect a VGA cable from your laptop to the corresponding input on the back input panel on the tv. This cable connecting step is the same for the HDMI option. Next, set the Source input to the tv to the cable type connection you made. Finally, make sure you tell your laptop how to display itself. If you're using Windows 7, the display may appear automatically. If it doesn't do that, right click in a blank area on the desktop, then choose Screen Resolution. In the box under "Change the appearance of your display", click the Detect button. Which ever screen your tv is labeled (1 or 2), in the drop down box next to "Display:", select your tv label. Select Apply at the bottom of this window and you should be set. If your laptop video card supports it, you may be able to have both laptop and tv do a variety of display types.
