There should be a setting on your cable box to have the remote control only control the TV volume not the cable box volume. Once this is set you should be able to control the volume with your cable box remote control. That is what I had to do with Verizon Fios.

i don't believe you can control the volume via an optical cable connection (it will turn on and off with the TV, though). You would need to use an HDMI cable and connect it to the HDMI/ARC connector on your samsung TV, if it supports ARC, & then turning Anynet+ on from the soundbar's remote. (On my UN55D8000 the HDMI/ARC jack is HDMI 2 -- it's labeled "HDMI IN 2 (ARC)" )

Question

How to control audiobar with Samsung SmartTV Remote

After purchasing the Audiobar for my Samsung LED TV model series 6150, I now have to use two remotes to control my TV experience. Add to that my Verizon FIOS control box for channel selection, I need three remotes. Can I at least control my Audiobar using my Samsung TV remote? How do I configure it?

Thank you for contacting Samsung. In order to use pair the two devices, the device pairing to the sound bar has to have a display to enter a PIN. Since headphones likely lack this, it's probably not possible to connect them. Thank you for being a Samsung customer!

Question

Why does my subwoofer cut out?

I noticed in the past week or so that the subwoofer keeps cutting out. The blue light is on and it works sometimes, so I know it is connected. If I change the volume, it will come on for a few seconds, then cut out again. I unplugged it and plugged back in - it came on really loud, then cut out again.

Question

How do I get this unit to turn on with my Samsung TV in Anynet Mode?

I have a Samsung UN60ES7100FXZA TV, and a Samsung HW-E450 Sound Bar. According to the specs, the sound bar should not only turn off when the TV is powered off, but, back on, when the TV is turned on. However, in my case (And this happens on 2 different units), I can either turn off with the TV, and not back on, or, Turn on with the TV, but, not back on. My system is set up as such: Sat Box into the HDMI 1 of the Sound bar. HDMI Out of Sound Bar into HDMI 2 of the TV. I have also tried using the optical cable to connect between the Sound Bar and the TV. In this connection, I no longer have Anynet (Has to be off), With this connection, The TV does not power the Sound bar off, but, it will turn it on. However, in this mode, you have to use the Soundbar remote to control volume. I at first thought I have a defective unit, so boxed it up, and went to where I purchased the unit. The assistant manager gave me some grief, but, exchanged it. I brought the unit home, and now have the same issue. I went back to the store, and used the one that they have on the floor (Demo). It does the exact same thing. So, I spoke with the assistant manager again, and showed him the issue. He told me that he knew that this is a problem with these, and that while Samsung know of the issue, there is no fix. So, I am hoping that a engineer or above can figure this one out. I have researched this on the web, and there are 100’s of people with the same issue. Can someone please look into this issue, and fix it? This is why I bought ALL Samsung, because with AnyNet, they were all supposed to work together, and be able to use one remote.

Thanks,

Question

I have a new sound bar HW-E450ZA. The TV is connected via optical cable and works fine. Can I connect an aux cable to my mini stereo system too?

The instructions for connecting TV show optical cable OR aux, but I'm guessing that means you don't connect the same device twice. I have to go buy an aux cable if that will work, so I want to be sure before I buy it.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

We've consulted a product specialist and they've indicated that you can use both the Optical and Aux inputs, but one at a time, not at the same time. You can change the source to Optical and use the device with your TV and then change to Aux and use with your stereo.

If you have any additional questions, we suggest your refer to your product manual or the product support page on our website, where you'll find a comprehensive troubleshooting guide, product support videos, FAQs and How-Tos, as well as manual downloads.

Question

How can I get a 6100 series TV remote to turn the E450 sound bar ON?

I cannot get the Samsung TV remote, a TiVo remote or a programmable universal remote to turn the sound bar ON.

The TV remote will turn it OFF using Anynet+ but will not turn it ON.

Serious engineering flaw. Extremely dissappointing.

Bought a matching Samsung product so I wouldn't have this problem.

Question

Why won't my sound bar turn on with TV?

My sound bar will not turn on with TV. I First hooked it up with Optical and don't like switching remotes for volume so I switched to the HDMI ARC.

The volume works and the auto off works, but no auto on with the TV, as stated in the manual. It will, however, turn off with the TV. AnyNet is on and working fine.

Another issue: It always starts up in TV ARC, and I get sound but no picture. I have to switch it to HDMI and I get sound and picture, but any time I switch the source on my tv, or make any other changes it switches the mode over to the optical for some reason.

I am running HDMI out from the cable box into the soundbar then HDMI out from soundbar into the HDMI 2 ARC on the tv. using a Samsung UN60ES7100FXZA TV. Are there any updates that will fix the soundbar, so that I do not have to use 2 remotes? If not, please consider removing that from all of your product advertizing, as this is not working on MANY units in the field. CONNS told me that all of theirs in the the stores do the same thing.

Thanks

Anynet+ works when the AV device supporting Anynet+ is in the standby or on status. Additionally, there are no firmware updates for the soundbar. We also recommend you review page 22 of your product manual for more information on TV ARC. Finally, we recommend you review the following support article:
