Questions & Answers for samsung 7.2 Channel Home Theater Receiver

Question

My sub doesn't work when i use a digital optic cable

so i set up my system and have everything running into my TV. then have the digital optic cable running to the receiver. before i had everything running through the receiver but i wanted to be able to play different audio than what was coming up on the TV.
the original set up (everything through receiver) the sub worked when there was use for it. Now when i just am using the digital cable it won't turn on at all. i even put in a dvd, transformers, to see if that would turn it on and no luck.

any idea's on why this set up doesn't work?

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

We recommend you go back to the original configuration, as the way you currently have it set up will not output 5.1 or higher audio. Depending on the number of connections, you can, at the very least connect your TV, a satellite receiver and a Blu-ray/DVD player via HDMI or Optical. Either one should properly process the correct audio as long as the devices themselves are set to process the higher quality audio.

Thank you for being a Samsung customer!

With just Two speakers, you should select 2CH mode. That just puts the Receiver in STEREO mode, basically disables "Surround" mode.

I’m sorry to hear that you're having this problem with your Home Theater system.

There are stereo or surround devices, but RCA inputs are typically used for stereo, and optical cables are used for stereo and/or surround signals.

With the limited information that has been provided, I'm unable to assist with troubleshooting. I would definitely recommend contacting the Samsung customer service center, and speaking to one of our chat agents at the following link:
