Question

Samsung HT-Z520

We have the surround sound home theater system HTZ520. I am having a horrible time adjusting the volume. If I turn it up so that I can hear the voices in the movie, the music is entirely too loud and overpowers the voice. How can I change this?

You may want to check the audio settings in the menu of the HT-Z520. If you're playing a movie with 5.1 surround sound, make sure that you're selecting the surround sound option from the disc menu as well - this will assign each speaker a specific audio channel and should balance out properly.

If you need additional troubleshooting assistance, you may want to contact the Samsung customer service center at 800-SAMSUNG.

Question

I have a HT-z520-xaa Home heater and I am looking for the code for my comcast remote.

I have a Samsung TV with anynet capability, so I can control the volume with the comcast remote. However, I have to use the Home Theater remote to turn it on. Is here a code available for the comcast remote for this device?

I'm sorry to hear that you're having this issue.

Cable and Satellite box companies often program their remotes with their own code banks. In order to get codes that are compatible with Samsung (or any!) manufacturer's devices, you'll need to contact your service provider to see which codes are available for your model.

Question

HT-Z520 wireless rear speakers

Is it possible to wire the rear speakers in parallel with the sub left and right connections as opposed to using the wireless adapter? The fan noise of the adapter is very annoying.

Thanks.

Question

I have been trying to get my Cable box (Cisco RNG150) to play thru this system with no luck.

I have tried several different combinations of cabling and functions of the HT-Z520 to get the Cable box to get audio and video from this system. DVD's play perfectly from the system but nothing from the cable box will play. Looked through the manual but evidently missed the corect config drawing. Can you give me a schematic or line drawing or explanation on how to get this functioning properly. Very frustated and ready to dump the system if I can't get this worked out. Will replace with another brand if fail to resolve. Bought this and the TV at the same time and TV is great but HT is very flaky.

Question

Why won't my Home Theater properly output sound anymore?

I have been using a Samsung HT-Z520 and a Samsung LED LCD HDTV UN55B6000 together for a year or two now. I have my Xbox360 and my Playstation 3 hooked into the Home Theater system with an HDMI splitter so that I can watch/play one or the other with surround sound. Recently, for some reason, my surround sound all of the sudden stopped correctly outputting the sound to the speakers. At first I thought it was just my Playstation, but it happened on my Xbox360 AND the built in DVD player on the Home theater system. Sound will come out of the speakers, but it will just be the music and background noise. The voices of the actors are so low that its less then a whisper. When I do get the voices to come out of the speakers, its only on 1 side (The back right speaker). Also, I can no longer switch the sound mode (e.g. Matrix, Cinema, Music, etc) when in HDMI mode, and I could do that before.

I have checked and rechecked all the cords. I have reseated them and rewired everything just in case. Nothing works. Do you have any idea what is going on? Is there a setting missing? As I said, this happens with the native DVD player built in as well, so its not just an issue with the consoles.
