It may be because the positive and negative wires are touching, either behind the home theater system, or behind the speakers. You may want to check the back of your speaker connections, and then also the back of your home theater systems connections to make sure the speaker wires aren't crossing each other, or touching each other.
If any of the speaker wires are touching each other - either at the rear of the Blu-ray player, or the rear of the speakers - the system will go to the PROTECT mode to prevent damage.
