Question

Region free for DVD player

Although this Blue Ray player has many good features, I am deeply dissatisfied with the fact that it can only read US region DVDs... I lived in many different countries (Europe, Australia, USA) and now I am not able to enjoy 70% of my LEGALLY bought DVD. It is really annoying when the player tells me that "I am not allowed" to display my own DVDs as if I was doing something wrong...
Is there a way to be able to read those DVDs on this Blue Ray player or is throwing it away and buying a cheap chines DVD player the only option?
Thanks a lot for your help

Question

Why do my rear, and center speakers, not produce sound when AUX or ipod, are selected?

I have yet to hear anything out of my rear speakers when I have AUX or my ipod selected. I have also tried watching Netflix through the device, and still only the left and right channels produce audio. I thought that the movies on Netflix would produce 5.1 sound. Any suggestions?

Why does the blue-ray theater system shut itself off after a few hours?

We will be watching TV and the blue-ray sound system shuts off. If we unplug it for several hours and plug it back in it will work for a few hours. It keeps repeating this cycle. The Model # is HT-EM54C.

Hi, John914,

You can connect your televisions optical audio port from the TV to the Optical In.

If your television only has analog outputs (RCA, red and white), then you can use an RCA cable and play your TV's audio through your system with the AUX-IN input.

Directions on connecting a television to your Home Theater system can also be found starting on Page 20 of the Owner's Manual.

Thanks for your interest in Samsung products.

Question

Startup option

Product connected to HDTV with HDMI cable with signal coming through DirecTV box. When I start up the receiver and TV I have to manually click the "Function" button to get to the HDMI 1 screen to get the picture on the TV. Is this normal and more specifically is there a way to have the startup automatically get to the HDMI 1 option? I've looked through the user manual and tried various settings but to no avail. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you for contacting Samsung. When Anynet+ is enabled on the TV and receiver, the TV will default to the receiver's connection, which is HDMI 1. There is no setting to change this. If you disable Anynet+, the TV will start up to whatever it was last set to. Thank you for being a Samsung customer!

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

You can attach a USB memory stick to the USB jack on the front of the unit to allow for BD Live content from your discs to be stored. Select SETTINGS > NETWORK > BD-LIVE SETTINGS > BD DATA MANAGEMENT > Select Device > USB.

If you are receiving messages that you have limited memory available, you will need to delete any apps that you are not using to make room for new ones.

Question

How do I disable the internal disk drive?

My unit will by itself randomly switch input to the internal disk and open the disk tray, often interrupting live TV, FM, etc. which is very annoying. This seems to be a common problem with this Samsung model (search the web for "EM54C disk tray") - often starting soon after the warranty expires. Can I disable the internal disk? That way I'd be left at least with working receiver and speakers. Because the problem occurs only intermittently, repair would require uncommon patience and conscientiousness. I'd feel more confident in buying an external Blueray player and connecting it via HDMI than paying about the same for having someone try to fix the internal drive/control boards/cables/connectors/whatever else causes the malfunction.
