Question

Error Message "Disc does not meet specifications."

I purchased the movie "Dark Shadows" in Blu Ray. Play would start and stop. The disc was ejected with the error message. I returned the disc to the retailer and got another copy. I am receiving the same message that the disc cannot be played and that it does not meet specifications. This is a WB film. My other Blu Ray movies play but this one will not. Any suggestions?? My system is online so you can access it directly.

I just fixed this.
This is NOT a problem with the software so dont bother with the hard reset. This is a hardware problem.

If you are in warranty feel free to send it in on Samsung's dollar.

But if you were like me you are out of luck if its been over a year:
Before you spend hundreds of dollars sending this thing off to get it fixed you can do it with a phillips screwdriver. I have repaired lots of electronics, and on a scale of 1-10 i would say this repair is a 2, so super easy.
I root caused this to be an issue with the contacts on the physical volume buttons. I didnt even know this stereo had a physical volume buttons until i started having this problem. The issue is the vacuum tubes get too hot and melt the traces going to the switch. If you look carefully you will see the buttons.

Just disconnect the receiver, remove the screws in the back, remove the cover. Find the ribbon cable going to the volume buttons and unplug it from the circuit board. Fixed. Replace cover and screws. If you are like me you never even knew you had them so you wont miss them. The capacitive buttons (the ones that light up) still work fine.

I have the same problem, just started the other day. I contacted Samsung, they had me do a few things plus a hard reset of the system but it still was happening. They suggested to have me send in the unit for repair. Luckily my warranty is still good till July. Hopefully your warranty is also!!!

Question

Audio Playback

I have this system hooked up to a Samsung ES6100 model tv. I know you get best audio quality running hdmi in on the sound system. However, I do not want to run my ps3 or my cable through the audio system. So i have an Optical Cable running from tv to surround system.

When I switch to the "dolby digital" sound output option on my tv (to utilize rear speakers) dialogue only plays through the center speaker. The other speakers work but do not pick up voices. This makes it sound like people are in a well or something.

When I switch to PCM audio output, voices play through all three front speakers rather than just the center, but I do not get the surround. Why is this happening and how can I get better sound quality.

The whole point of dolby digital is to hear the content as it was encoded. In your case where you only hear the dialogue through the center speaker, well that is the way it is supposed to work. The dialogue then appears to sound as though the person's voice is coming from their mouth. All other sounds will then filter to the either left or right or rear depending on what is going on in the movie or video you are watching. Now this all will also depend on the content or what you are playing.

The PCM option may not be passing the surround portion of the audio to your surround system.

Keep in mind that you may need to adjust your surround system to match each mode you select on your TV (Dolby or PCM).

To unlock the Blu-ray player, follow these steps:

Press the Stop button to place your Blu-ray player in stop mode.
Press 4-8-2-7-3 on the remote control. Lock Off will appear in the upper left corner of the TV screen.
Press the eject button on the remote control.
The disc tray opens on the Blu-ray player.

If this does not resolve your issue:

Unplug the player and hold the power button for about 20 seconds.
Connect the power cord again and with no disc in the player, press and hold the Stop button on the panel until your TV displays the message, "Resets all settings to the default values". After a few moments the Player will turn itself off.
Turn the player back on and continue with on-screen language selection.

The disc tray on 2010 Blu-ray Players (Models beginning with BD-C), will not open until all Initial Settings are complete. Make sure you have followed all the on-screen prompts before trying to open the disc tray.

If you have tried all the steps above but your player still displays 'Lock' or does not open the Disc Tray, your player requires service. To arrange service click the 'Create Online Service Request Button' below.

Depending on the disc or storage device, the Tools menu
may differ. All options may not be displayed.

To enable the background music function, the photo file
must be in the same storage media as the music file.
However, the sound quality can be affected by the bitrate
of the MP3 file, the size of the photo, and the encoding
method.

You can't enlarge the subtitle and PG graphic in the full
screen mode.

You may check it on your user manual for more information.

Thank you for your question. The Microsoft Zune is not specifically supported product for our devices. However, you can attempt to connect to the USB port on the front of the device with your USB cable. Provided the songs are in the right format (consult your manual for appropriate formats), you might be able to play without a problem.

In order to use the iPod dock (AH-00051C), you need to connect it to the rear of the home theater unit. Make sure to connect the dock connector so that the triangle icon faces upward. We recommend you refer to the picture on page 18 of the user manual for more info. Also, on page 39, it lists the iPod/iPhone models that are compatible with your home theater.

iPod touch 3rd/2nd/1st generation
iPod classic / iPod with video
iPod with dock connector
iPod with Click Wheel
iPod nano 5th/4th/3rd/2nd generation
iPhone 4S / iPhone 4 / iPhone 3GS / iPhone 3G / iPhone

Question

When will you repair iPhone / iPad app?

More than 170 reviewers in the app store state that your app does not work, losing connection almost immediately. I have the same issue.

The advertised app was one of the reasons I chose Samsung over some other brands but the app obviously does not work and you are obviously aware of the problem.

What is the timeframe for a fix? A week, a month, a year, or forgetaboutit it ain't gonna happen?

Question

Samsung Blu-Ray 3D Home Theater Network Problem.

Ok, the problem is this: I have my Samsung HT-E6500 Blu-Ray 3D Home Theater (BD Player with 5.1 Speakers) connected via wired LAN to my network that also has my computer on it. Using Allshare Play on the Samsung BD Player, I can link to my shared files on my PC, but when I try to play those video files, I get the message "Digital In: Connect an Optical Cable from this product to the external digital devices such as a Cable Box or Satellite Receiver". I have an optical cable linked from the optical out on my PC to the optical in (digital in) on the BD player.

The strange thing is if I go through the exact same thing and try it again, it then works. It is annoying as anything having to do everything twice in a row to make it work properly however. Does anyone have a solution so it works the first time every time?

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

With AllShare, there does not need to be a physical connection between your home theater system and the source computer via optical or any other cable type. AllShare will share the media from your computer to the home theater system via your network connection. So, as long as AllShare has been set up on your computer correctly, your HTS should see the files via the network and then play them. You can disconnect the optical cable and ignore the message.

We have spoken with our resident home theater expert and she says as long as the wireless USB keyboard is HID (human interface design) compliant, it should work. Since your home theater doesn't have built-in Bluetooth like some of the higher-tier 2012 TV models that support a Samsung wireless keyboard, you would need to purchase a keyboard that has a wireless USB adapter. Once plugged into the home theater and paired with the keyboard, you should be good to go!

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

You can go into Network Settings and change the network type to Wired and then don't connect any Ethernet cables. That would also keep the wireless connection from functioning.

Thank you for contacting Samsung. You'll want to connect your DirecTV through your hometheater or at least provide audio out from the STB for DirecTV. Here's an article that explains how to do this: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber/popup/iframe/pop_troubleshooting_fr.jsp?idx=416043&modelname=HT-E6500W

Hello. I buy and a beautiful vacum tube HT-e6500w.The specifications is that the power requirements are AC 120, 60 Hz also the same power for the SWA-500, but my question is if posible to work the system in AC 220 without the use an external TRANSFORMER (i.e 220 to 120 VAC),or they have an internall power switching that work from 100 to 240 VAC.I made this question because the sticker in the product said 120 VAC and for my is a surprise because actually many equipments comes whit automatic switching power.I need to use the E6500W in ARGENTINA. Thank you for contacting Samsung. If you bought a US product, it's meant to work only on AC 120, 60 Hz. Any power supplied to it must conform to these specifications. We apologize for any inconvenience this may give you. Thank you for being a Samsung customer!

Question

No HDMI Pass-Through? Can't Control Volume via Directv Remote Controller

Just installed my new HT-E6500W Home Theater System and ran into some functionality issues I didn't expect to have.

Firstly, I expected an HDMI pass-through functionality so that picture and sound would flow through the Home Theater System (HTS# to the TV even if the HTS was not turned on. It seems this is not the case. Can anyone confirm?

Secondly, I expected to be able to control the HTS volume with the volume control on the remote control of the Directv "Genie" DVR that is connected to the HDMI1 port on the HTS #similar to how the Genie would control volume on a TV it was directly connected to). This is also not occuring. Is volume indeed only controllable with the HTS remote control unit?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Thank you for contacting Samsung. This home theater system doesn't have HDMI standby pass through. However, if HDMI-CEC is on for both devices, sound control commands should be passing through. If it isn't, please contact us at qasupport@sea.samsung.com and let us know what steps you've tried thus far. Thank you for being a Samsung customer!
