Question

I just assembled my HT E5500W home theater. However, the center front speaker does not work. When I did the test for sound, nothing came out .

any suggestions. Perhaps, either the center speaker is defective or the wire connecting the center speaker to the receiver is defective????any way to find out which???

Did you get this to work? When I assembled my unit I did notice that the input connections for the front/center/sub speakers do not snap in, they just push in without much retention. I would hook them up and by time I put the unit in place one of the connections would come loose. Had to be pretty ginger with it but it worked out. Let us know what you found the problem to be with your speaker.

Jim,

After some additional research online, I found this on Vizo's website.

Here is a list of remote control codes that may enable your remote control to work with your VIZIO TV.

3 Digit codes: 004, 502, 627

4 Digit codes: 0178, 1758, 0128, 1017

5 Digit codes: 10864, 01376, 00476, 00810, 00276, 01187, 01254

VIZIO also offers a line of universal remotes controls that come pre-programmed for your VIZIO TV. See our V.U.R. series of remotes controls in the accessories section of this website.

Samsung - I think the question is how do I rename the input Sources. I have HDMI1 connected to my WD Live Hub and HDMI2 is connected to my Raspberry PI. Instead of HDM1 & HDMI2, I'd like the Inputs to be named "WD Live" and "RaspPi"

On page 28 of your manual, it says the following:

You can connect a wireless USB keyboard or mouse to the USB port on the front of the product.

Keyboard Settings: Lets you configure a wireless USB keyboard connected to the product. Please note that you can use the keyboard only when a QWERTY keyboard screen or
window appears in the Web Browser.

Mouse Settings: Lets you configure a wireless USB mouse connected to the product. You can use the mouse in the product's menu in the same way you use a mouse on your PC.

To use a mouse with the product's menu:
1 . Connect the USB mouse to the product.
2 . Click the primary button you selected in Mouse Settings.
The Simple Menu appears.
3 . Click the menu options you want.

NOTE: Depending on the model of the USB HID keyboard and mouse may not be compatible with your product. Some HID keyboard keys may not work. Wired USB keyboards are not supported. Some applications may not be supported. If a wireless HID Keyboard does not operate because of interference, move the keyboard closer to the product.

Why Can I not open the web browser?

I have tried to open the web browser apps Icon, but it say "You do not have enought memory to download this Application". I have not additional applications, just the "Recommended Apps (top bar)". The same issue when I attempt to open the "Samsung Apps" icon. The Smart Hub detail say: "Memory Usage: 268.21MB/268.21MB". WHY?

This is weird. Something is stuck in memory. Try opening each and every app on the bar. This may load new versions of them and free memory in the process. Wild guess, but it may work.

Another option (and popular): reboot. Just unplug it from the power and plug it back in.

Question

TV and Home Theater Connections

I purchased an HT-E5500W home theater and a UN55ES8000F Samsung TV. What is the best way to connect the two, so that I can use only one remote? I have a Tivo DirecTV receiver (uses HDMI) and an older DVD RW player that uses only component connections.

The HT-E5500 Will connect your UN55ES8000F Samsung TV and your Tivo DirecTV receiver fine via the HDMI inputs on the HT-E5500, they're are three on the rear which are selectable via the remotes TV source button. If your older DVD RW has and Optical Output and Audio Outs, the HT-E5500 will accept it, but not the component cables. Those are RGB video outputs for Component Video, the RCA connectors on the HT-E500 rear are for Audio.

Thank you for contacting Samsung.

Samsung Blu-ray players sold in the U.S. support Region 1 for DVD, and Region A for Blu-ray. While many DVD/Blu-ray players can be hacked to make them region-free so that they'll recognize and play discs from anywhere in the world, this process is not recommended by Samsung. The support team is not provided with this information. We must warn you to proceed with caution should you find a way to do this elsewhere online, as this is not considered an acceptable process under the 1-year warranty terms.

Question

Why won't the audio settings/speaker selection stay on TV?

When I want to listen to TV (or other source) at night, I prefer not to use the TV speakers as opposed to the home theater speakers. But if I change the audio setting/speaker selection to TV then exit to my HDMI input (TV), the speakers come on instead, ignoring my setting of TV output. Oddly, the only input that will use the TV speakers is CD. Why does it do this and how can I fix it to use the setting I select?

Question

How do I use the home theater speakers while watching TV or using Xbox?

I'm not sure of the correct way to hook up my system so that the home theater speakers can be used when watching regular TV or gaming as opposed to just watching a blu ray disc or other content through the blu ray player. I have an Xbox, cable box and this blu ray player all connected directly to my TV using HDMI cables. Do I have to go from the cable box to the blu ray player and then from the blu ray player to the TV? Same with the Xbox, do I have to go from the Xbox to the blu ray player to the TV with the HDMI cables? Please explain the correct way to connect my components so I can use the home theater speakers while gaming, or watching regular TV.

Question

NO MUSIC

When I first bought the HT-E5500W, I was fairly simple to set up and I had it streaming music and video from my Windows Home Server 2011 system almost instantly. As each firmware update comes along more things seem to stop working. Right now, the device can see videos and pictures on my Home Server but not the music. I believe this happened after going from version 9 to 11 of the firmware. I have Sony devices in the house that are streaming music from this source with no issues. For that matter, I have a Galaxy S III and I can play the music just fine to that device. What am I missing?
