Make sure that what you are watching has 5.1 surround sound, depending on what you are streaming, it might not be outputting 5.1 hence no rear speakers.

I am having the same problem. I get rear speaker sound after the unit has been turned off, only if I unplug the rear speaker unit, replug it, pull out the tx card and reinsert it, then power it all up again. Doesn't seem like it should work that way, but it does. I have to pull the tx card and reinsert each time the system has been turned off, to get rear speakers going.
I have a Samsung Home Theater HT-D6500 and a Samsung SmartTV 40D6000 LED. I do not have cable TV and listen to TV via antenna. I cannot figure out how to listen to TV with the home theater speakers. I have 4 HDMI cables available.

If you have a cable box, connect the left and right audio outputs from the cable box, to the Aux inputs on the home theater system. Or, connect the output audio from the TV, to the Aux inputs of the home theater system. Then when watching TV, choose Aux as the source.

Or if your TV or cable/sat box has an optical audio output, use an optical cable (fiber optic) to connect them. It's a simple single connection, and provides the best quality audio.

Yes, I do have the same problem. I am assuming you are talking about Samsung wireless dongle. I have Samsung HT-D 6500 home theater system with wireless speakers and a connected TV with Samsung wireless dongle. My wireless speakers don't work if I use the dongle on my TV. I tried switching wifi channels with my router and all the technical stuff but it just doesn't work. I am using an ethernet cable now to get internet on my TV. No dongle, no wireless speaker problems.

There is a flip down door on the bottom right of the unit, just below the volume controls. The input is located in there next to the USB port.

I had the same issue for 2 days, and what I did was reset the the blu ray.I know you have stated that you have already did this, it took me three tries before getting netflix to work. Heres how I did it, I held the stop button on the player for 5 seconds and after the 5 seconds I still kept my finger on the stop button, in my opinion its more like 10 seconds than 5 but anyhow after keeping my finger on the stop button a screen popped up on the tv saying everything will be reset I then turned the power off and the back on then went thru the set up on the player again and after all was redone netflix was working.
i bought the htd6500w and cannot get it to stay on H in 1 source. What can I do.
It is paired with the UN55D7000 and when I try to just watch TV it keeps going back to D as a source and will not stay on H in 1 upon startup. It does start that way by almost immediately switches back. Any suggestions.

I called tech support for the same issue. They told me to disable the anynet feature (Press menu to get to the main screen go to settings>System>Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC)) and the input that it is left on when turned off will be the same input it stays on when it turns back on. It defeats the purpose of purchasing a Samsung HT system to pair with a Samsung TV for the use of the Anynet+ feature...
When watching TV (cable)there is an echo coming from the wireless rear speakers. Is there a way to correct this?

Certain home theater systems have presets to mimic various environments (ie opera, stadium, etc.) which may cause such an effect. Check to see if you inadvertently selected such a setting.
Occasionally, the audio will go silent for ~3 seconds. I have DirecTV (HDMI)-->HTS (HDMI)-->Samsung TV where all audio is handled by the HTS. I thought it was an issue with DirecTV, but the issue occurs when playing BDs/DVDs too. Any ideas?
This issue has been around 1+ year and HTS has latest firmware. Thanks.

In the menu settings Menu, networks you have to register you wireless network, I mean need to give user id and password. Hope if you already did that one still facing the problems. Check with wired network, if it is coming correctly then it is a problem of your Router.
Problem getting the HT-D6500wza wireless rear speakers to connect to the main unit.
I have followed the provided instructions and correctly connected my TX card. The wireless unit is plugged in and the blue "link" led flashes for approximately 30 seconds. In that time, I turn on the main unit. However, the wireless unit does not connect and instead goes to the red "standby" led. This caused the musical calibration test to fail and I was unable to enjoy surround sound features.
How do I correct this issue?

I would try and turn the unit off, unplug it from the outlet, wait a few seconds plug it back in, and see if the speakers connect after the unit is turned on.

The buttons are not working on the remote nor the receiver. I can turn it on and off on both the remote and receiver, but no other buttons work. I cannot control the volume or go to another input function. Also, I have no sound coming out of the speakers, but I do get a picture on the current input. Any thoughts? thanks, Mark
