That's how you have to register the product. I had the same problem and registered as HT-D550 and I was able to enter the rest of the information including the serial number.

Question

I recently bought a Home Theater system DT 550 and cannot get sound from the rear speakers while watching TV

I have audio from the TV going into the DVD player/receiver with an optical cord and have tried to click on the PROLOGIC button like the website says but I never get the display to read PROLOGIC. Is there something else I can do as this is the main reason I purchased these speakers? Thanks

The rear speakers do not work all the time. It will depend on what your watching. If you're watching a good movie, you'll hear it from time to time, but watching tv (certain shows) or playing video games, you will usually only hear the front speakers. In fact, even when you're playing music, the rear speakers will not work. Pretty much standard for home theater in a box, but we still love our system!

If you can't see prologic II on the front panel while pressing the PLII on the remote, look for matrix instead. After you set the home theater to matrix you'll be able to hear the sounds on all the speakers already.

Question

Why wont my left and right surround speakers play while I am watching a movie?

I have them connected correctly and I even ran the auto tune test for my speakers. When the test tone was sent to the speaker, I could hear the tone. However, when i try to play the radio or watch a movie no sound comes out of them. (This is also true for the front center speaker)

More than likely the movie is not outputing in 5.1. If you look at the Troubleshooting guide for the unit @ http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber/popup/pop_troubleshooting.jsp?ia_cd=N0000074&model_name=HT-D550 and navigate to Audio -> No Sound From The Rear Speakers to troubleshoot why you are not getting any sound.

Does the Digital Home Theater System work with the sound on the TV through basic cable?

We just bought the Digital Home Theater System (HT - C550/XAA) and cannot get the sound from the home theater to come through the TV (we have basic cable). We connected the DVD player to the TV using an HDMI cable, but the sound will not work. What do we do? Thanks!

Yes, if you have a cable box, you need buy an optical cable to run from the back of your cable box to your dvd player. Or in the case of no cable box, run it from back of dvd to television, if your tv supports an optical cable. I had the same problem and that's how I solved it. I recommend buying it from Amazon, as your local Radio Shack or Best Buy over charge, in my opinion.

Question

I have only activated the receiver to play the FM radio. Why does only three speakers give sound, or three channels are putting out amps.

When I discovered this, I did not attempt too test any other functions, until I know why there are only three channels working on the receiver. I'm thinking I may need too push a function control button on the remote, to start the other three channels working properly. Please enlighten me, or let me know there is a problem with the receiver, HOME ENTERTAINMENT CENTER.

Try using the Matrix, or other sound modes, when using stereo signals.

FM is left and right channel, so the left and right channel (plus bass) are used for those inputs. If you want to use the other speakers, the Home Theater system will have to process that signal using the different sound modes.

Fro all speakers to play there must be 5.1 info, which you don't have in a two channel FM signal. You might try the Dobly Pro Logic II mode, see page 38 of manual.

I’m sorry to hear that you're having this problem with your Blu-ray player.

I’d recommend trying to reset the unit by turning the unit on and making sure that the disc tray is empty. Then, press and hold the STOP button until the unit resets. Then, go through the initial setup and power down the unit. Then, try and restart the unit and you should have proper operation.

If you still continue to experience difficulty, I would recommend contacting the Samsung customer service center, and speaking to one of our chat agents at the following link:

Or you can also call them directly at 1-800-SAMSUNG.
