Presuming your HT-D5300 is connected to your TV via HDMI, the easiest way to set this up is to program your cable remote to control your TV for on/off. The TV will automatically turn the HT-D5300 on/off with CEC commands.

If that doesn't work, read the manufacturer's instruction for the cable remote and they will provide you with a "try this until it works" routine for programming the remote.

You need to connect the Digital Optical Cable from the TV to the Optical In on the HT-5300. Then select D.IN when watching TV (if your TV supports ANYNet+ it will do it automatically). Audio from your TV to the HT-D5300 will only come though your HDMI connection if your TV supports ARC (Audio Return Channel)
Good Luck.

To connect to a wireless network, you do need to purchase additional hardware. The LinkStick Wireless USB adapter plugs into the USB port on the front of your DVD Player and allows you to connect to your wifi network. *Note that for the fastest and most reliable network connection, you should use an Ethernet cable from your router to the port on the back of your DVD Player. You can find the LinkStick here. http://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs-accessories/WIS09ABGNX/XAA-buy

As previously stated ethernet cable or wifi connector are the ways to go. Another solution is, if you already have an internet connection to your Samsung Smart TV, the newer HDMI 1.4 cables will carry an ethernet signal to the BluRay player. This smart technology allows the need for only one connection for all devices.

You get an optical audio cable and connect it from your TV to your Bluray Player digital optical input. When watching regular TV you would switch your inputs on your Blu ray to (D-in) to utilize the speakers for regular TV watching. When you watch DVD's you get the surround sound if its available. Hope this helps....

Absolutely. Just connect the video cable to the t.v. and the audio cables to the home theater system. This won't give you true surround sound however, if you upgrade the Xbox connection cable to an HD one it will have an optical cable you can plug into your home theater system for surround. You'd also have to change the settings on your Xbox (System/Console/Audio Setup) to output 5.1 channel audio, and make sure your home theater is set to "D.in". If using the basic cable, make sure it's on "AUX".

If your source is blu-ray, RGB cables aren't designed to play 1080p Blu-ray content. I would highly recommend an HDMI cable. Otherwise, go into the settings on your Blu-ray player and look under "Display" settings. You may want to change the resolution and color format to auto, or experiment with other settings and refer to your owners manual for different connection scenarios.

I think the way to get the best picture and sound is to use an HDMI cable from your cable box to your TV and then another HDMI from the HTd5300 to your TV. Then you get an optical audio cable and connect it from your TV to your Bluray Player. When watching regular TV you would switch your inputs on your Blu ray to D-in to utilize the speakers for regular TV watching. Hope this helps....

You need to have your system connected to the internet either with an Ethernet cable, or the optional USB wifi adapter. Then choose "Internet" from the main menu. Smarthub will open, and you can choose "Samsung Apps". Find Netflix, select it, download it, and then you need to sign in to your Netflix account.

The sub really doesn't matter where you put it, the surround sound speakers should be placed behind the listener for optimal surround effect.

I agree, these terms can be misleading. There isn't really a standard term for whether wifi is included or if a device is just capable of using wifi. There's wifi included, wifi capable, wifi built-in, etc. "Built-in Wireless" is another one that just refers to being capable of using wifi via a USB wireless adapter. For greatest reliability and speed, I recommend using a wired internet connection, otherwise you can find the adapter by typing "Linkstick" in the search box here at the Samsung website.

I had the same issue - you will likely need to update your device's firmware. Go to Settings > Support > Software Upgrade and follow the onscreen instructions to update your device's firmware.

Once the device has restarted, you will need to access the Netflix application, but also be logged in to your Netflix account on your computer. Go to your account information and find the section where you configure WATCHING INSTANTLY ON YOUR TV OR COMPUTER and chose "Activate a Netflix ready device".

When you selected the Netflix app, you should have been asked if you were a Netflix subscriber or not, if you selected "Yes" it will give you an activation code which can then enter via your Netflix account to sync your account to your device. If you follow the instructions onscreen, it's actually pretty easy to do.

Hope this helps!

Unless your cable includes some kind of HD programming upgrade, you won't get surround sound from your programming. If you simply want the sound to come out of your Samsung Blu-ray system's speakers you can connect the t.v. to your Blu-ray system using an optical cable, or simple audio composite cables. Find a menu setting on the t.v. for external audio instead of using the t.v.'s speakers and switch the source on the Blu-ray system to Digital In (D.in) [for the optical cable] or Auxiliary (AUX) [if you used composite]. If you do have HD programming, connect your cable box to your Samsung Blu-ray player directly. Refer to your owners manuals for more information.

With only WIS09ABGN Samsung LinkStick, only one device can be connected to the Internet.

You could use the same LinkStick for either device (or swap them on devices), but connecting both devices with one LinkStick is not possible.

If the receiver is a 5.1 or larger system, the best way to connect your Blu-ray player to your receiver would be with an optical cable for the audio, and continue to use the HDMI or component cable for the video directly from the Blu-ray player to the television.

We appreciate your support of Samsung products.
