Question

Camera won't turn on

I used the camera underwater (about 2 feet deep) for the first time today. After taking about 14 pics it stopped working. I took all the correct steps and neither the usb port door or the memory card door was open. Now it won't turn on at all. HELP

We recommend you try resetting the power to the device. This button is underneath the waterproof flap where the HDMI connector can be found. If the device does not power on after pressing and holding the reset button, you can try placing the device in a deep bowl of uncooked rice for a couple of days, as it will remove any excess moisture from the inside of the device without you even having to open it. Countless people have done this when they have accidentally washed their cell phones or other electronic devices that will no longer power on.

Question

What happens when I operate in "Underwater Mode"?

The manual says to use the "underwater mode" when using the camera underwater. However, it doesn't explain what happens when using that mode and what happens if I forget to choose it before putting the camera underwater.

The sound seems more muffled when in underwater mode; is this to be expected? What exactly happens when I choose that mode?

Given how new this product is, we have not been provided with any additional information on this product than what is currently available via the product support page online. After reviewing the first few pages in the product manual, we can only assume that the underwater mode adjusts the sound recording quality so that it doesn't record an excessive amount of water sound when moving about underwater. This may be explain why the sound may be more muffled, as recording underwater will never be fully audible.

We do recommend you follow the directions of making sure to clean the product after it has been used underwater (whether in a pool, lake or the ocean) to help keep it operable and make sure it lasts longer. You DO NOT want to use any soaps or chemicals to clean it. Just clean water will do. Make sure to let the product air out and dry before opening any of the port covers. The full process of cleaning is covered in the first few pages of the product manual.

Question

How to update the firmware, and/or check current firmware version?

The firmware is available in the downloads section as an .elf file. How do you update the firmware on the device with that file?

Also, is there a way to check the current firmware version information to see if it's in need of an update?
