My HL50A650 did this with a bad lamp. The funny thing is the lamp I removed works in my older hlr5067w dlp tv. My tv started doing this shortly after it was a year old.

Mine would shut off also and after I vacuumed it carefully, it seemed to work fine. The bulb did eventually go after 3 yrs. though, but probably reached its hourly life expectancy because my tv is always on. TV: 50"DLP model HL50A650C1F

The DLP I have was turning on and off every 30 seconds when the bulb went bad in it! I changed the bulb and it works perfect again!

Most TV's have a sticker on the back where the lamp goes that says "lamp code" and has the number and barcode.

When mine kept shutting off, I thought it was getting too hot. During our house renovation, I thought it might have too much dust in it so I carefully vacuumed it with a shop vac and after that it seemed to work fine. Bulb did burn out after 3 yrs of almost constantly being on. But I ordered a new bulb 2 months ago and here I am back to it shutting off and I guess the bulb needs replaced again. I vacuumed this time and it didn't help but it sure is dirty inside - I think the tv's are extremely sensitive. I was told this tv technology should have no problems.

Question

The power supply cycles on and off every three or four seconds

When I try to power on the TV the TV will come on for a few seconds and will run ok for maybe a minute or two but the picture will be very dark - too dark as if the lamp is running at 50% or something. Then the power supply begins to cycle on and off. Now I cannot get the system to stop cycling on and off unless I remove the power cord.

it could be a bad audio cable going to the tv. optical cables can break inside very easily but you can have the same problem with HDMI cables.

Why would my DLP have 100s of white pixels on the screen?

About 6 months ago we started noticing a few white pixels showing up on the TV screen. After a month or so it was dozens, and now it's literally hundreds of white pixels, and even some black ones, all over the TV screen, and it's getting worse...it's virtually unwatchable. Please help.

Screen goes black and I get Two Flashing Lights . . .

I was watching this set and the screen goes black and the Stand By/Temp & Lamp lights start flashing. Only the two. I immediately hit the manual to look for light codes, nothing. Next the Internet to find out what it could be. This took about 10-15 minutes. So after no answers I thought I would try to turn off the set with the front panel power button. I held it in for a couple seconds, the red light went out, the green light flashes and the set came back on. What happened?

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
