Customer questions and answers for samsung HL-T6176S
Question
Unknown cable source.
When I turn on my Samsung HLT6176S the screen is directed to the Cable source. I do not have a component connected to this source, but it is still displayed with static. I have looked through the onscreen menu and the downloadable manual for a reason for this or for some way to 'disconnect' the Cable source, but cannot find any information.
If they are white dots on your screen then you must call samsung and they will provide you with the chip needed for the situation. also allow the expert they offer to come to your home and install it.

Question
Why the tiny white dots all over screen, How do I fix this ?
You can't because Samsung has no parts available anywhere in the USA. J&J is the authorized parts provider and they have told me that this part is on a nationwide back order. No ETA.
The tv contains a faulty dmd chip. Samsung is aware of the problem. If you call them they will do a one time replacement on parts and labor if that is what is causing the white dots. We just got ours fixed a week ago for free! It works just like new!! :) Good luck!

Question
How may I downgrade my firmware to factory firmware ?
I recently upfraded the firmware to 1024. It bricked the set. I am unable to power it off or use the function button on the set. I am able to connect satelite to it, but unable to use the factory remote now.
Very sorry to hear about your problem. Unfortunately, there is no way to downgrade with firmware. But the problem you're facing sounds like it may need servicing. Call 1-800-SAMSUNG, or if you want to come through a social media channel, we have a couple options for you:
If you have a Twitter account, go here or to this URL: http://twitter.com/#!/samsungsupport Having a transaction number or model number and serial number handy ahead of time will be helpful.
If you have Facebook, go here to this URL: http://www.facebook.com/SamsungSupport Click on the "Support Form" button.
There are videos available on youtube that show how. It's pretty easy and quick. Just be sure not to touch the bulb with your bare hands. The oils in your skin will cause the new bulb to fail prematurely.

Question
KidCo Anti-tip Saftey strap
I am needing to install the KidCo anti-tip safety strap. On the instructions it says I need to locate the VESA holes on the back of the tv. I am having trouble. Can someone please tell me how to mount the safety strap safely to the back of the tv?
Thank you for contacting Samsung. The VESA holes are referring to the VESA Flat Display Mounting Interface. As this TV isn't meant to be wall-mounted, it doesn't have any of those holes. Thank you for being a Samsung customer!
